Chapter 253 The Snarky Xavier
Grace's words made Ryan's face darken, and he glared at Amy.
Amy was momentarily speechless. Was her voice too loud?
"If it wasn't you, then who?" Amy asked again.
Grace replied, "How would I know? Ask Ryan who he pissed off to make someone hate him this much."
"Who else but you? You hold a grudge against Ryan!" Amy insisted. She turned to Patrick, "Honey, are you just going to let Grace walk all over Ryan?"
"You should ask Ryan if he provoked someone he shouldn't have. This has nothing to do with me!" Grace said.
Patrick's eyes were dark and menacing. "Grace, did you do this to Ryan?"
His tone was equally terrifying. "If you admit it, I can go easy on you. But if you lie, the Montgomery family will never let you go. There are many ways to make you desperate."
Patrick's words were full of threats. He usually seemed kind, but that was just a facade. When he got serious, his expression was terrifying.
Anyone timid would have been scared by Patrick's demeanor.
No matter what Patrick said, this had nothing to do with Grace.
Just as Grace was about to speak, a voice came from outside.
"Patrick, isn't it a bit inappropriate to pin the blame on a girl like this?"
A familiar voice, followed by a familiar figure.
Even though Grace had just seen him last night, seeing him again made her heart skip a beat.
Xavier had also arrived. Now the entire Montgomery family was here. The injured Ryan was his nephew, so it made sense for Xavier to come.
Grace looked at Xavier, but Xavier's eyes were on Patrick.
The two brothers locked eyes, and Xavier showed no fear; in fact, his presence was even more imposing.
"What do you mean that admitting is the truth; denying is lying? Even the police don't use such harsh interrogation methods." Xavier's words clearly defended Grace.
Grace's emotions were in turmoil. He was still so good, even though he had said they were done, he still stood up for her.
Xavier stepped between Grace and Patrick, shielding Grace from Patrick's view.
Grace looked at Xavier's tall figure. Just by standing there, he exuded a different kind of aura.
For some reason, with Xavier's appearance, she felt a strong sense of security. It was as if she suddenly had nothing to fear.
Suddenly, Xavier turned around and glanced at Grace. Their eyes met.
Xavier's eyes were still as cold and sharp as ever, devoid of any warmth. Looking at her, it was as if he was looking at a stranger.
She had many things she wanted to say but didn't know where to start.
After a long hesitation, Grace finally opened her mouth and managed to say, "Xavier, why are you here too?"
She still called him Xavier, a habit she hadn't changed.
Xavier's voice was chillingly cold. "To see if Ryan is dead."
"Xavier, do you really wish for my death? Did you do this?" Ryan's eyes were red as he looked at Grace and Xavier.
If it wasn't Grace, then it had to be Xavier!
Xavier said, "If I had done it, you'd be in a coffin right now."
He was in a foul mood, snapping at anyone who spoke to him.
His sharp words made Ryan want to hit him, but he knew he couldn't.
"If it wasn't you two, then who? You two..." Ryan trailed off, feeling Xavier's intense, knife-like gaze. He didn't dare continue.
Ryan's tone softened. "It must be you two."
Xavier sneered. "You're hopelessly stupid. It's a wonder Patrick hasn't died of anger yet."
The Montgomery family stayed silent.
What was up with Xavier today? He was unapproachable, mocking anyone who came near.
Grace chimed in, "Instead of guessing, think about who you might have offended. Who benefits from your situation?"
Ryan thought it over and still believed it was Grace. After she latched onto Xavier, she didn't want to marry him, so she resorted to this.
"Who else but you!" Ryan's fierce gaze turned to Grace.
Grace's lips curled into a mocking smile. "You're so stupid you deserve to be schemed against. But I think I know who it is."
"Who?" Ryan asked.
Everyone except Xavier looked at Grace.
Grace said, "You don't need to look for her. She'll show up soon enough."
Ryan was frustrated. If he could never enjoy sex again, he'd go crazy.
Ryan had always been promiscuous, and if others found out he was impotent, he would be a joke.
Ryan clenched his fists. Once he found out who did this, he wouldn't let them off.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before Patrick got a phone call.
Patrick's face grew even darker. He commanded, "Bring her here!"
After the call, Patrick knew who was behind this.
The call was from one of his subordinates.
Ever since the live broadcast incident caused a citywide uproar, the Montgomery family's reputation had plummeted, all because of Kelly.
Since then, Kelly had disappeared, and Patrick's men had been searching for her.
But Kelly had vanished without a trace, and his men couldn't find her.
Just now, they reported finding Kelly's whereabouts.
Kelly had been hiding, and now she had reappeared. This incident was undoubtedly connected to her.
Patrick wasn't stupid. He quickly realized that Kelly, pregnant with a Montgomery child, now had leverage since Ryan was infertile. This meant Kelly's child could be the Montgomery family's only heir.
That's why Kelly dared to show up so openly now. It was clear who was behind this.
Patrick's eyes narrowed. Kelly was ruthless, and he had underestimated her before.
If he had dealt with Kelly the first time he caught her, there wouldn't be so much trouble now.
Patrick also knew that Kelly's bold appearance indicated a sense of impunity.
And for now, he couldn't do anything to her.
