Chapter 452 Put the hand chain back on her wrist
Grace had completely forgotten about this matter. She started, "Xavier, you."
"It's so late. Have you eaten? Are you tired from playing all day? Let me give you a massage."
As he spoke, Xavier had Grace sit on the sofa, then he stood behind her and massaged her shoulders.
Every time Grace brought up settling accounts, Xavier would find another excuse to interrupt, like asking if she was thirsty or cold.
He poured water for Grace and brought her a blanket, massaging her shoulders and arms, more attentive than a server.
She had dinner with Angela before coming back, and she was just feeling a bit tired.
Whether it was Xavier's excellent massage skills or Grace's exhaustion, she fell asleep just like that.
When Grace woke up, the room was pitch dark. She picked up her phone and saw it was 2 AM.
The room was empty; Xavier must have left.
And she was in the bedroom, not on the sofa, meaning Xavier had carried her in.
Grace couldn't sleep, so she got up to work.
It would be time for her prenatal checkup in a few days. Given how often Xavier was around, he might come along.
Grace didn't want Xavier to go.
She thought for a moment and sent a message to Mason, asking when Xavier would return to Oakworth.
In the morning, Mason replied that Xavier might go back to Oakworth soon.
Grace checked the time and decided to schedule her prenatal checkup for that day!
Besides being around Grace, Xavier was actually very busy with many things every day.
The day before he was to return to Oakworth, he sat next to Grace, watching her sleep.
"I have to go to Oakworth in a couple of days to take care of some things. I won't be around for the next few days."
"Okay." Grace nodded, unable to hide her smile, looking quite happy.
"You're this happy when I'm not around?" Xavier looked at Grace's amused expression but wasn't really angry.
"Just go already," Grace pushed him softly, "It's better if you don't come back."
"Do you really wish I wouldn't come back?"
Grace hesitated, "What matters to me if you come back or not?"
"I knew it; you can't bear to see me go."
"I don't miss you at all!"
How did Xavier get that impression? Clearly, she couldn't shake him off.
"But I can't bear to leave you." Xavier suddenly took Grace's hand and kissed it lightly.
"I'll be back as soon as I can," Xavier said.
Grace pulled her hand back, "What does that have to do with me?"
During this time together, she realized Xavier had become very clingy, liking to watch her sleep. Once she woke up, he would leave, only to reappear the next morning.
Maybe it was because of the pregnancy, but Grace had been feeling sleepy these past few days.
So, even with Xavier around, she could fall asleep quickly and sleep well.
As she was about to drift off, Grace felt something cold on her wrist.
But her eyelids were heavy, and she didn't open them.
Xavier had put the hand chain back on Grace's wrist. He had restrung it after it broke last time.
If he gave it to Grace directly, she would definitely refuse, so he had to do it secretly.
The hand chain wrapped around her wrist, fitting perfectly with her slender wrist.
Xavier reluctantly held Grace's hand. He did not want to go back to Oakworth; he wanted to stay where she was.
Looking at Grace's sleeping face, he couldn't resist and kissed her lips.
The next day, Xavier really didn't show up. Grace had scheduled her prenatal checkup for today. After getting up and washing, she noticed something was off.
Seeing the hand chain, Grace's breath caught.
Wasn't this Xavier's mother's keepsake? She had returned it to Xavier, so why had he put it back on her?
With Xavier gone for a few days, she had no way to return it to him.
What was Xavier thinking, secretly putting it on her, not daring to do it openly?
Grace decided to keep it on for now and return it the next time Xavier showed up.
After a quick wash, Grace went to the hospital.
Grace didn't expect to run into someone else at the OB-GYN.
She couldn't understand her connection with Kelly. Why did she always run into Kelly whenever something happened?
She even suspected Kelly had done something wrong, making her Kelly's nemesis.
Kelly appeared at the OB-GYN, holding a paper and looking excited.
As she turned around, she bumped into Grace. Kelly's smile froze in surprise.
"What are you doing here?" Kelly asked, flustered.
Grace looked at her paper, "Why so excited? Pregnant again?"
Kelly didn't expect Grace to guess, "I'm not!"
"Really or not? Kelly, your acting is terrible when you lie. The baby is Patrick's, right?"
"Grace, stop talking nonsense!" Kelly panicked. She knew Grace's status had changed; she was now a Coleman family member, protected by her family.
Sometimes, she was jealous of Grace's good fortune.
Grace never had to fight for anything, yet she had everything. But Kelly was different; she had to rely on herself.
And Grace had seen her coming out of Patrick's room last time. Now, Grace saw her at the checkup. What had she done to offend Grace?
"If it's not Patrick's baby, your husband Ryan can't have children anymore. So whose baby is it?"
"I..." Kelly was speechless.
"I'm not pregnant. I'm here to see my child. I just recovered recently. Don't talk nonsense!" Kelly denied it, refusing to admit it.
"Many people get pregnant soon after recovering. Given your personality, you could definitely do such a thing," Grace said calmly.
"Grace, I beg you, don't tell anyone about this for the sake of our past friendship!"
Though she had just found out she was pregnant, the baby was still very small.
She had been secretly coming to the hospital for checkups. As long as it was a week or ten days after conception, it could be detected.
She couldn't wait, so she came for a checkup, and today, she finally got the good news.
"Grace, I know I've wronged you before, but I also helped you, didn't I? If it weren't for me, you would have married Ryan, and you wouldn't be with Xavier. And I never fought with you over Xavier, did I?"
