Chapter 402 I Regret It
Angela was pacing outside, totally clueless about what was going on inside.
She was super nervous, and it was all because of that jerk, Xavier.
Angela just couldn't wrap her head around why women always get the raw end of the deal. The pain, the emotional baggage – all dumped on them. Men just skipped off scot-free.
She kept mentally cursing Xavier, but Grace was still defending him. Angela thought Grace was being way too nice.
Standing there was making Angela feel even worse, especially knowing Grace was going through hell inside.
She decided to take a walk downstairs and, surprise, surprise, bumped into that self-absorbed guy, Scott!
She had zero interest in saying hi and was about to walk away when Scott opened his mouth first. "What are you doing here, stalking me?"
"Get lost, I was here first, okay? Are you stalking me?" Angela snapped back.
"Why would I stalk you?" Scott shot back, finding Angela more and more unreasonable.
"Yeah, why would I? What have you got to offer? Your age? Your ego?" Angela fired back.
"You..." Scott was at a loss for words.
"Why are you at the hospital?" Scott asked, knowing Angela was Grace's bestie.
"None of your business, go away!" Angela shouted.
Scott went quiet.
Angela was hopeless; he didn't want to deal with her at all.
Scott was at the hospital to dig into some stuff. Patrick's medical fraud had big consequences, and the hospital director, Luca, was already in cuffs.
But Luca wasn't spilling anything or ratting out Patrick. No one knew what tricks Patrick had up his sleeve.
Scott quickly moved on, and after a few laps, Angela saw Grace coming down.
"Grace!" Angela rushed over.
The abortion was shockingly quick; it took less than twenty minutes from start to finish.
Angela couldn't believe Grace managed to come down on her own. She'd heard it was traumatic, that you needed to rest.
"Is it done already? What did the doctor say?" Angela asked, worried.
Grace shook her head, "I still want to keep the baby."
"What? Are you nuts, Grace? That jerk treated you like crap, and you still want to raise his kid!" Angela was fuming.
Grace had gone into the operating room but had second thoughts before the anesthesia kicked in.
The doctor said the baby was already three months old and could hear the heartbeat, then showed her on the monitor.
She saw that tiny life moving, like it was waving at her.
The thought of the baby's innocence made her feel like a monster. She remembered the cute little boy Sam and his mom she saw downstairs, thinking about how many people desperately want a child but can't have one.
Grace also thought of Evelyn, who, despite everything, decided to have her. She couldn't go through with the surgery and bailed at the last minute.
Grace nodded, "I've thought it through. I want to have this baby, no matter who the father is."
Grace had really thought this through; it wasn't some spur-of-the-moment decision.
She went back to see the doctor, who gave her a ton of advice, told her to come in for regular check-ups, and reminded her to avoid cosmetics and their harmful chemicals.
So, no makeup for a while.
But that was cool; she could handle it.
As for the baby, she'd figure out the right time to break the news to the Coleman family.
"If you've really thought it through, I'm behind you all the way!" Angela said with a smile, giving Grace a big hug.
"Thanks, Angela!" Grace said, tearing up.
"Thank me for what? I didn't do anything. Just don't expect me to help with diaper duty. I'm not changing any diapers!" Angela joked, pretending to be mad.
Grace knew Angela was kidding but felt really happy.
Even though it was her first time being a mom, Grace felt confident she could do a good job.
"Let's head home," Angela said, linking arms with her.
"Wait, I have one more thing to do." Grace went to find out the full name of the kid she bumped into earlier, then headed to the payment counter and deposited two million dollars into Sam's account.
She didn't know if the money would be enough to save Sam, but meeting him had solidified her decision to keep her baby.
Grace thought Sam was adorable and hoped he could beat his illness and live a good life. If he had to stop treatment and leave this world because of money, it would be heartbreaking for his loving parents.
So Grace felt she had to help if she could.
Just as she finished making the payment, Scott wrapped up his business and was about to leave.
Seeing Grace, Scott was surprised, "Grace, what are you doing here?"
"I..." Grace hesitated, not sure how to explain.
She hadn't expected to run into Scott, so she asked first, "Scott, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here for some business. Why are you here?" Scott replied.
“I'm here with Angela!” Grace wasn't ready to share her pregnancy news with the Coleman family just yet. She needed time to figure out how to tell them and find the right moment. For now, she'd use Angela as her cover.
Scott didn't think much of it, "By the way, Grace, Grandpa heard about this popular resort here. He doesn't want to stay in a hotel, so he booked a place there and wants to stay for a while. Grace, come with us."
Grace was taken aback.
She suddenly remembered that the resort was Xavier's vacation spot!
"What's wrong, Grace?" Scott noticed her odd expression.
Grace shook her head, "Nothing, have Grandpa and the others already gone?"
Scott nodded, "Yeah, they're getting ready to go."
Sure enough, not long after, Grace's phone rang. It was Chase, inviting her to the resort.
Having just reunited with her family, Chase really wanted to spend more time with Grace. She couldn't say no and had to agree.
Then Grace looked at Angela, "Angela, do you want to come with us?"
Angela shook her head, "It's your family reunion. Why would I tag along? Plus, I'm swamped with work at the end of the year. Have fun!"
Meanwhile, at Oakworth Airport, Stephanie boarded a flight to Skigeth.
Xavier also got the message: [Mr. Montgomery, Ms. Park just boarded a flight to Skigeth.]
"Skigeth?" Xavier frowned, puzzled by Stephanie's move.
