Chapter 271 You Also Know the Woman Beside Xavier
"Ryan?" Stephanie looked at the number, surprised that Ryan would call her.
"It's me. Haven't you always wanted to know who the woman by Xavier's side is?" Ryan asked, trying to suppress his anger.
Stephanie was confined by her grandfather in Oakworth, unable to go anywhere. Yet she constantly yearned to journey to Skigeth.
But in Skigeth, she knew no one. Even Grace was unwilling to help her.
When Stephanie heard Ryan's words, her heart skipped a beat. "Who is it?"
Ryan said, "You know her too."
Stephanie suddenly had a bad feeling.
That night, Grace called Kelly.
"Let's meet," Grace said coldly.
"Sure," Kelly replied, her voice was full of joy. She was very happy now that everything was going her way.
In moments of happiness, Grace felt an invincible sense of fearlessness.
"You decide the time and place," Kelly said. She harbored no fear of what Grace might do to her, for the Montgomery family was now her shield.
"Tomorrow noon at the café next to the high school," Grace said.
"Alright," Kelly agreed, unable to contain the smile that spread across her face.
She believed Grace must be furious now; Grace had never wanted to lose to her since they were kids.
Kelly also visited the bridal boutique once more and tried on the same wedding dress she had tried with Ryan last time.
Despite the dress originally being intended for Grace and Ryan, Kelly had worn it before, and now she adorned it once again.
It showed that it was fate, her fate with this wedding dress.
Kelly even took many photos and sent them to Ryan. "Ryan, do you remember the last time we went to try on wedding dresses? That one fit me perfectly."
"I thought I was pregnant with our baby, and it wouldn't fit as well. I even thought about altering it before the wedding, but it fits perfectly."
"It must be because the baby cares for me, growing slowly. Ryan, let's try it again when you get out of the hospital."
However, Kelly received no reply from Ryan.
Despite Ryan's silence, Kelly remained undeterred and continued to send voice messages. Her tone was sweet and cloying as she spoke, attempting to evoke a sense of connection. "Ryan, why are you ignoring me? The baby just kicked my belly, perhaps because he missed hearing his daddy's voice."
"Ryan, we're getting married soon. Should I start calling you honey? I'll have to call you that eventually, so why not start now?"
"Honey, I love you the most!"
Hearing Kelly's voice messages, Ryan angrily smashed his phone.
Whenever he saw Kelly now, he became enraged. Hearing her voice even made his stomach churn as if he was about to vomit.
For the first time, Ryan felt so disgusted. For the first time, he hated Kelly so much.
Ryan thought, 'Why doesn't that bitch Kelly just die!'
'When Kelly gives birth, he will make her life a living hell!'
The next morning, Grace first went to the office. She hadn't been there for days, and Lily was almost frantic.
"Boss, how's the cooperation with Mr. Turner going? Why did you disappear in the middle of it?" Lily asked.
Grace shook her head. "We're not cooperating with the Turner Group for now. Go back to work."
"What?" Lily was shocked. The Turner Group was supposed to bring a big order. Why cancel the cooperation?
"Reduce my workload for the next few days. Cancel all meetings, negotiations, and business dinners," Grace said.
"Yes," Lily agreed but found it very strange.
Grace was always a workaholic. It was the first time she asked to reduce her workload.
She went into her office, handled some important accumulated work, and then left the company.
At noon, Grace arrived at the agreed café. Kelly was already there.
Kelly sat by the window.
Grace sat directly opposite Kelly. Kelly's hand was on her belly, as if afraid Grace didn't know she was pregnant.
In front of Kelly was a cup of fruit tea. Seeing Grace, Kelly said, "I'm not like before; I can't drink coffee now. What do you want to drink? It's on me."
"No, thanks. I don't want to treat you either. Let's just pay for our own," Grace said indifferently, not wanting to have any connection with someone like Kelly.
Kelly said, "You've always been this way, unbearably arrogant."
Kelly's hand continued to caress her belly. "Don't blame me. I've always yearned for a wealthy life. You know about my childhood. Ryan liked me first, so I'm not really stealing your boyfriend."
"Grace, when Ryan and I get married, you must come to our wedding. You know the date; it's set on the day Ryan was originally going to marry you," Kelly said, showing a victorious smile.
Soon, the coffee Grace ordered arrived.
She stirred it and took a sip. This café had changed ownership multiple times over the years. The taste was no longer reminiscent of her high school days.
Grace felt no stir of emotion within her.
She had a reason for meeting Kelly today.
"I don't care when you and Ryan get married. I asked you out today because I want to entrust you with a task." "
"What is it?" Kelly was curious about what Grace wanted her to do.
And why did Grace think she would help her? Kelly had no intention of helping Grace. She was just curious about what it was.
Grace calmly said, "The Montgomery family took my mother's ashes. I want you to get them back for me."
Since the Montgomery family couldn't touch Kelly, she was the best person for the job.
Kelly laughed as if she had heard a joke. "Grace, are you dreaming? Why do you think I would help you?"
Grace calmly drank her coffee. "I said you would, so you will."
"Do you think calling me here would make me remember our past friendship? Let me tell you; Grace, since childhood, I have harbored a deep aversion towards you. Your condescending gestures, masquerading as kindness, and the affronts to my dignity are etched in my memory. I can never bring myself to assist you."
The Montgomery family must have had their reasons for taking Grace's mother's ashes.
Now Kelly just wanted to prepare to be Ryan's wife. She didn't want the Montgomery family to dislike her anymore. She wouldn't get involved in this.
Grace must be out of her mind, coming to her in desperation.
Kelly's face was perpetually adorned with a confident and triumphant smile, her chin held high as if she were superior. However, Grace's subsequent words caused Kelly's eyes to widen in shock, her smile freezing in place.
