Chapter 341 Xavier Finds Out About Playing Cards with Sterling
Amara didn't take off her clothes, which made those men disappointed.
Although there was no shortage of women to watch, such a spectacle was rare, and many onlookers began to see Grace in a different light.
The fact that Grace could beat Amara at pool alone was enough to make many people look at her with new respect.
Grace sent a message to Xavier: [How about it? Your student didn't embarrass you, right?]
Xavier typed: [Indeed.]
Grace replied with a smile: [It seems you're even better than that pool expert, to have taught me to be so skilled.]
Xavier smirked. At this moment, Colin returned. "Amazing. Xavier, this Grace is really something, and she's quite strategic."
Grace not only faced these people without fear but also managed to outsmart both Amara and Stephanie. If he hadn't been there to witness it, he wouldn't have believed it.
No wonder Xavier wasn't worried at all.
Colin had been worried about the potential disgrace if Amara had actually stripped. Even though Grace won, others might have called her ruthless.
But Grace cleverly pitted Amara against Stephanie, preserving Amara's dignity while sowing discord between the two, and came out on top.
"Brilliant, truly brilliant!" Colin couldn't help but admire Grace, even though it was their first meeting.
Even though it was their first meeting, Colin couldn't help but admire Grace. She was indeed awesome.
With Colin praising Grace like this, Xavier looked very proud. "Well done."
After all, Grace was his girlfriend.
"But Grace has made some enemies again. I'm more worried now." Colin said with worry.
Xavier looked at him, his eyes narrowing. "What are you worried about?"
Colin chuckled, "I'm worried for you."
Xavier looked over at Grace. Despite being out of place among this crowd, not dressed as glamorously or as beautiful as the others, she was the most dazzling person there. Wherever she was, it seemed like the center of the stage.
She had an undeniable presence that was captivating.
Amara and Stephanie had finished fighting. Both were disheveled, with Stephanie's face swollen from Amara's slaps, and Amara scratched by Stephanie.
Once they calmed down, Grace asked, "Do you still want to continue?"
Amara yearned to restore her dignity, but in her present condition, how could she manage it? She needed to find a place to refresh her makeup. Still, she had to visit the hospital first. What if a scar marred her face?
Amara shook her head and ran out of the bar.
Grace glanced at the others: "Anyone else want to play? If not, I'll be leaving."
Everyone shook their heads in unison. Since Amara had lost, they didn't want to embarrass themselves.
However, some didn't believe Grace was good at other games and suggested she play cards.
Playing cards was indeed Grace's weak point, but she didn't show it.
Grace looked at the person who suggested it. Despite her plain appearance, her eyes were very intimidating. "Are you sure you want to play cards with me?"
"What do you mean?" The others were confused. Could Grace be a card expert, too?
Grace remained calm, "Do you know Sterling?"
Everyone nodded in unison. Who didn't know Sterling? Not just in Oakworth, but worldwide, he was a renowned figure, almost as famous as Xavier.
Grace's voice wasn't loud, but everyone heard it clearly. "Last time, Sterling played cards with me, and he lost."
Xavier's eyes darkened at this.
Why did Xavier not know about this?
"What?" The others were even more incredulous.
Everyone knew Sterling loved gambling and was very skilled at it. Almost no one could win.
That Grace could win against Sterling showed she was a master.
"If you don't believe me, you can ask him." Since Grace said this, it must be true.
Most of the people here were from Xavier's circle and not particularly close to Sterling. Given Sterling's unpredictable nature, no one dared to ask him for confirmation.
Grace said, "If you want to play, how about we add some stakes?"
Seeing how badly Amara lost and that Grace had beaten Sterling, they felt they would lose easily.
If they added stakes, they might as well admit defeat.
It seemed Xavier had a reason for choosing Grace. They had underestimated her.
No one dared to challenge Grace to any more games.
With their silence, Grace quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Luckily, they backed down. If they had insisted on playing cards, she might not have won.
Winning against Sterling last time was a miracle. Either God was on her side, or Sterling went easy on her.
"If no one wants to play, I'll be leaving."
No one dared to challenge Grace, so she returned to Xavier's side.
Even Colin gave her a thumbs up.
Even Colin gave her a thumbs up and praised, "Amazing, Grace. Are you really that good at cards? Did you actually beat Sterling? Do you even know him?"
Grace shook her head, "It's just luck. I don't actually know how to play."
But as soon as she said that, Xavier wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace.
In a deliberately low voice, Xavier said, "When do you play with Sterling? How come I don't know about this?"
Grace sensed the danger emanating from Xavier. "Xavier, you didn't know?"
Xavier looked at them and said, "Go play somewhere else. We need to talk privately."
So everyone got up, leaving the booth to Grace and Xavier.
Grace had forgotten she hadn't told Xavier about this. Was it so late to explain now?
Xavier lifted Grace onto his lap with one hand.
"Do you have fun playing with Sterling?" Xavier's tone was clearly jealous.
Grace said, "I'm so scared. How could I have had fun?"
"How about giving me a chance to explain?" Grace wrapped one arm around Xavier's neck and cupped his face with her other cold hand.
Xavier nodded, "Go ahead, let's hear your story."
"It's not a story, it's the truth. He has threatened me with Angela. It's the day you left Oakworth because of Stephanie." Grace explained.
Xavier frowned, "I didn't leave because of her."
"How could it not be because of Stephanie? You have rushed back because of her grandfather. Don't worry, I'm not jealous."
Grace acted very magnanimous, but Xavier was not satisfied. He pinched her waist, "Why aren't you jealous?"
Grace was silent.
Xavier's jealousy was one matter, but was she not capable of being magnanimous and free from envy?
