Chapter 611 It Was Brittany Who Replaced Grace Back Then
Jared had arranged for someone to keep an eye on things, but just before Xavier could make his next move, he cut off the surveillance feed.
When Brittany approached Xavier, his face darkened, and his expression turned cold and ruthless.
His brows furrowed as he tried to push Brittany away, but she wouldn't budge. In the next moment, he pulled out a gun and pressed it against her forehead.
"Let go!" Xavier's voice was filled with irritation.
Having been touched by Brittany, he felt as if some virus had contaminated him and didn't even want his clothes anymore.
Brittany sensed something was wrong and immediately let go, her body stiffening in fear. She didn't plan to risk her life for Jared's scheme.
Jared's plan had involved removing all his other men, leaving Brittany with no chance to escape if Xavier decided to kill her.
Brittany's face turned pale. "Xavier, calm down. I know you came to save me. I was just so happy, I thought I was going to die. Seeing you, Xavier, I'm really happy."
Xavier looked at Brittany with a cold, indifferent gaze. Her expression was full of fear but also calculation.
"I came here today to ask you something."
Xavier sat down, his authoritative posture making Brittany's heart skip a beat.
What did Xavier want to ask?
"Go ahead..."
"Do you know what happens to people who lie to me? I don't like ending someone's life quickly. I prefer to watch them suffer and regret it slowly."
Brittany's face turned even paler. What did Xavier mean by this?
"Have you heard of Stephanie Park?"
Brittany had heard of the famous Park Group, which had mysteriously disappeared after its manager died.
Xavier continued, "She tried to deceive me once. Now she's insane, trapped in her worst nightmare."
Brittany shuddered, thinking of Madison, who had also gone mad and was now pitifully confined in a villa.
"I'll give you one chance. Answer me: was it you who brought me food back then? Think carefully before you answer."
Brittany took a step back, her eyes filled with fear. "Xavier, why are you asking this all of a sudden? If it wasn't me, who else could it be?"
"Is that your final answer?" Xavier's gaze was icy, making him terrifying to look at.
"I..." Brittany wasn't sure what Xavier knew. Was he trying to trick her?
But the dark barrel of the gun was truly frightening, capable of ending her life in an instant.
"Xavier, did Grace tell you something?" Brittany asked cautiously.
Xavier replied, "She didn't say anything. She doesn't know about this."
Hearing this, Brittany breathed a sigh of relief. She had thought Grace had told Xavier something.
If Grace didn't know and hadn't said anything, then Xavier knew nothing.
Brittany suddenly felt much calmer. "Xavier, all your crystals are with me. Doesn't that prove anything? I was the one who brought you food every day. Maybe it was fate that brought us together. If I hadn't been abroad all these years, maybe we could have had more of a connection."
"I know you're happy with Grace now, and I don't mean anything by it. I think, if I had met you earlier and hadn't gone abroad, would things have been different?"
Brittany feigned deep emotion. Men abroad couldn't resist her gaze.
However, Xavier still looked at her indifferently, making Brittany feel uncertain.
"You brought me food every day."
Xavier chuckled and continued, "What did you make for me when we were kids?"
Brittany's heart skipped a beat. "It's been so long, I don't remember. It's been years."
"Really? I still miss the taste of that food. How about you make me something now, Ms. Lewis?"
Brittany's hands were delicate and well-manicured, not the hands of someone who cooked.
"That's not convenient. There's no kitchen or anything here."
"That's easy. I'll have someone bring it over."
Fearing Xavier would make her cook, Brittany quickly said, "No need. I haven't cooked in a long time. I can't recreate the taste from back then."
"Is it that you don't want to cook, or you can't?"
Xavier's gaze was terrifying, leaving Brittany with nowhere to hide.
Brittany was speechless, not knowing what to say. Xavier spoke again, "Or should I call Grace? Do you think she knows what was in the food you brought me back then?"
Brittany's pupils dilated. "No, no."
The answer was clear.
Xavier couldn't believe Brittany had the audacity to deceive him.
The girl who brought him food back then wasn't Brittany; it was Grace.
Maybe Brittany had taken Grace's place. Although he didn't know how Brittany got the crystal without Grace knowing, he was sure it was Grace who brought him food.
"If you don't remember what you made, then when did you bring me food?"
"Of course, it was at noon," Brittany said.
Xavier laughed coldly. "The girl who brought me food came every afternoon."
She had said she couldn't leave at noon and had to sneak out in the afternoon when the servants were asleep.
"I must have remembered wrong. It's been so many years, who can remember?" Brittany's face was pale as she made excuses.
"Brittany, even if you did me a favor, you already used that to get me to save your mother. This time, we'll settle the score separately."
Brittany was truly bold to deceive him like this. Did she really think he wouldn't mention it to Grace?
No wonder Brittany had insisted he not tell Grace.
He had thought Brittany didn't want Grace to know. It turned out she was afraid it would expose her lie.
"No, let me explain. I really did bring you food back then."
The day she got the crystal, she had brought a meal, but Ryan and others had released Xavier. Xavier wasn't there, leaving only a lunchbox with the crystal. Otherwise, Xavier would have eaten her food. She wasn't exactly lying.
