Chapter 198 Kelly's Pregnancy, Grace's Counterplot

Grace has been burning the midnight oil lately, either working or reading.

Mason brought over the book he mentioned, and Grace tore through it during her late nights.

'Did Mason make these notes? They're so clear and insightful,' Grace thought as she read.

With some cash on hand, Grace decided to dive into the world of investing.

Even as a newbie, she quickly believed that real-world experience and learning from failures  would be far more valuable than just theoretical understanding.

But soon after, Grace started feeling dizzy and developed a persistent sore throat. She suspected she had caught a cold.

Even after taking medicine, she didn't get better and seemed to have a slight fever, so she went to the hospital.

After getting an IV and a bunch of meds from the doctor, Grace was ready to leave.

She saw a familiar figure chatting and laughing with another man on the stairs.

Wasn't that Kelly? Even with a mask and hat, Grace recognized her.

The guy with Kelly definitely wasn't Ryan; he looked tall and tough. How had Grace not known about this guy in Kelly's life? They seemed pretty close, almost as if they had a history together.

'Is Kelly not feeling well? She doesn't look sick at all,' Grace thought as she followed them to the obstetrics and gynecology department.

Did Ryan know about this? Kelly having another man with her at the OB-GYN must mean he's important to her.

Kelly picked up a report and then screamed, "I'm pregnant, I'm pregnant!"

She was thrilled to finally be pregnant!

James hugged Kelly's shoulders, almost holding her in his arms. "Congrats."

Kelly wrapped her arms around James's neck and kissed him passionately.

Grace, not far away, saw this and gasped, covering her mouth in shock.

'Didn't Kelly say she liked Ryan? And now she's kissing another guy. Is Kelly's baby Ryan's?' Grace wondered.

In the OB-GYN department, where many came with their spouses, onlookers just assumed James was Kelly's husband, given her excitement. No one suspected anything unusual.

Kelly was on the verge of tears. Her efforts had paid off; she was finally pregnant. This baby felt like a divine blessing, arriving at the perfect time.

With this news, she felt a surge of triumph, wondering how Grace would now manage to marry Ryan. She couldn't wait to share the news Ryan.

But she had to be careful. What if the Montgomery family found out and didn't accept the baby, especially with Patrick's tricks? What if he caused her to miscarry?

She needed to wait for the right moment to share the news. The last thing she wanted was for her unborn child to face any harm.

Grace watched Kelly and James go downstairs and immediately went the other way.

Discovering Kelly's secret was unintentional for Grace. Now it seemed Kelly was trying to use this baby to marry Ryan.

'Why not take advantage of this opportunity?' She mused.

A cunning plan formed in Grace's mind. Since Kelly was so eager to marry Ryan, she could definitely help speed things uphad to help push things along.

It didn't matter to her if Kelly had other men or if the baby was Ryan's. Ryan wasn't a good guy either; he had plenty of mistresses.

Kelly and Ryan were truly a perfect match in their scheming ways.

Plus, they'd schemed against Grace so many times. She was merely helping Kelly fulfill her dream of marrying Ryan,  which absolved her of any guilt.

As Kelly came downstairs, Grace, looking weak, walked over. "Kelly? What are you doing here?" she exclaimed.

Kelly was surprised to see Grace. "What are you doing here?"

"The hospital isn't owned by you. Why do you care why I'm here?" Grace's voice was hoarse, and it hurt to speak.

Kelly bit her lip. Grace's words still stung, but she didn't want to argue.

Hearing Grace's voice, it sounded like she had a cold. Kelly noticed the medicine and the bandage on Grace's hand. She must have come to the hospital because of a cold. It seemed like a coincidence, not that Grace was following her.

"Kelly, you set me up last time, didn't you? You even had someone take me to a hotel. You're so stupid," Grace accused.

When Grace mentioned this, Kelly got angry. She didn't know why Grace wasn't there and why the room was empty.

"I don't understand what you're talking about," Kelly replied.

"It doesn't matter if you don't understand. Kelly, I demand a public apology—before the media, in front of the whole world. Otherwise, I'll marry Ryan tomorrow, and you'll be doomed to remain his mistress for the rest of your life, never having a legitimate claim to him," Grace said.

"You!" Kelly looked at Grace with resentment. "Don't go too far!"

"Am I going too far, or are you? Compared to what you've done, this is a mere trifle. I hope to see your apology online tomorrow." Grace's eyes had a sharp glint.

"By the way, make sure your apology sounds sincere. Don't play the victim or pretend to faint. But since you're already at the hospital, you shouldn't be that weak, right? You better hold on and not faint in front of the media, or I'll look down on you," Grace added.

Then, Grace walked away quickly.

Grace's ultimatum sparked a realization in Kelly's mind about fainting in front of the media. She suddenly realized she could announce her pregnancy publicly, ensuring the Montgomery family would lose their leverage over her.

Not too far off, Grace hid and watched Kelly's subtle smile. With a flicker of hope, she sensed her words had struck a chord. Grace silently prayed Kelly wouldn't let her down.

After returning home, Grace took some medicine but still felt weak and sleepy. She collapsed onto her bed and drifted into a restless sleep until the phone's shrill ring jolted her awake.

In a half-asleep daze, Grace grabbed the phone. Seeing Mason's number, she mumbled, "Hey, Mason." Her voice was still off, and she wasn't fully awake.

"Ms. Lewis, are you feeling unwell?" Mason immediately noticed.

"No, what's up?" Grace sat up, hugging the blanket, trying to sound normal.

"Just wanted to let you know the stock transfer is almost done," Mason responded.

"Okay, thank you. Let's grab a cup of coffee sometime!"

"You're welcome."

Mason quickly hung up. Unbeknownst to Grace, the phone had been on speaker, and Xavier had overheard the entire exchange.

"Is she sick?" Xavier frowned, hearing Grace's off voice.

Mason said, "It sounds like it."

"I just called Ms. Lewis's company. Her assistant said she didn't come to work today. I wonder how she's doing now." Mason observed Xavier's expression as he spoke.
