Chapter 011 Sleeping with a Man Like That, No Loss

"You pulled off my towel, and touched my abs. Isn't that seduction?" Xavier queried.

"When did I ever pull off your towel or touch your abs?" Grace paused, and as Xavier spoke, her face turned even redder.

This time, it wasn't because she was suffocating, but simply out of shyness. Xavier’s suggestive words might make some assume she’d really done the deed.

"Didn't you? Then how did my towel come loose?" Xavier lifted the blanket, and sure enough, his towel had come undone.

If he stood up now, he would be completely bare.

"Mr. Montgomery, I... I truly didn't realize it, and I swear I had no intention of seducing you!" Grace placed her hand solemnly over her heart.

"Saying that with a flushed face doesn't make it very convincing," Xavier teased.

"This isn't me blushing. I just haven't caught my breath from the lack of oxygen." Grace covered her eyes with her hands and then turned her back. "I swear I won't look."

Xavier observed her actions, a stoic expression on his face, yet he couldn’t help but laugh.

Patrick had invited him to stay over and naturally had provided fresh clothes for him.
Xavier picked up his shirt and started to get dressed.

Grace did turn around. However, the reflection of Xavier's silhouette was visible on the glass opposite her. To be honest, his physique was mesmerizingly attractive.

His muscles were perfectly defined without being bulky, it was firm and powerful. It exuded a sense of formidable strength that was both stable and intimidating. Grace had felt those muscles just last night, and they were indeed impressive to the touch.

And Xavier's appearance was truly the best, on a completely different caliber compared to Ryan. Next to Xavier, Ryan seemed significantly unimpressive.

Having been with a man like Xavier, Grace felt like she did not lose anything.

Xavier started to put on his pants, and at this point, Grace couldn't bear to look anymore. She covered her eyes tightly.

It wasn't until Xavier was fully dressed that Grace released her hands and turned around, her cheeks even more flushed than before.

Now Xavier didn't look as lascivious; instead, he seemed more restrained, as if he had regained his lofty demeanor. Under the light, the hand chain around his wrist reflected a gleam.

"Mr. Montgomery, please," Grace said, even opening the door for Xavier, and then hiding behind it.

He gave her a detached glance, a look that seemed profound.

Sure enough, Patrick was waiting outside. Seeing Xavier emerge fully dressed, he hurriedly said, "Xavier, I've already reprimanded Wendy and Ryan. I apologize on their behalf. Please forgive us..."

"Mr. Montgomery, the car is ready," Mason stepped forward. Without a word, Xavier headed straight for the grand entrance of the Montgomery Manor.

Patrick hurried after him. "Xavier, Xavier, don't be angry. We're all family," he called out.

Everyone in the Montgomery family knew they had offended Xavier. Everyone was observing, intently.

Grace took the opportunity to slip out of Xavier's room and then made her way downstairs, avoiding other people's gazes, and blending into the crowd.

As she reached the entrance of Montgomery Manor, Xavier was getting into the car. He glanced at the crowd and caught sight of Grace for the last time.

Just like when Xavier arrived, Grace stood at the back, making herself less noticeable. Yet, she stood out the most.

Their eyes met, and Grace silently mouthed, "Thank you, Mr. Montgomery."

Xavier scoffed and then got into the car. The driver quickly pulled away.

Patrick couldn't hold on to Xavier, and now he wore a glower on his face, making everyone around also feel uneasy.

"Grace! Where did you come from? Were you hiding in Xavier's room just now? What's the relationship between you two?" Ryan was livid. Now that he saw Grace, all he wanted to do was to end her.

"Ryan, don't talk nonsense. I was just in the restroom. Do you have any proof I was in Mr. Montgomery's room?" Grace retorted.

"How dare you argue back! I'll knock some sense into you!" Ryan advanced toward Grace as if to strike.

"Ryan!" Patrick shouted. "Isn't this enough commotion for you? Grace is supposed to be your future wife!"

"She’s not. I won’t marry that jinx!" Ryan spat out, and right then, his phone rang. It was Kelly calling.

On the phone, Ryan spoke tenderly and affectionately, "Kelly, it's late. Haven’t you gone to bed?"

"Ryan, I miss you. Can you come over and be with me?" Kelly’s voice on the other end was crying.

She had learned that the Montgomery family had arranged for Ryan to spend the night with Grace. Kelly didn’t want Grace to get her way, so she called Ryan.

"Kelly, I can't leave right now," he said, disappointingly.

"I understand, Ryan. I should be sensible. I won’t trouble you. Stay with Grace; I’ll be fine. I can just quietly miss you. I'll hang up now," Kelly said, a tone so pitiful that would make anyone feel guilty.

After she hung up, Ryan felt terrible. He believed that Kelly was so understanding; he wished he could fly to her side right then and embrace her to offer some comfort.

"Mom, I have to step out for a bit," Ryan said, not caring about the consequences.

Then he turned to Grace, his voice fierce, "You just wait. This isn’t over!"

Ignoring whatever Patrick was trying to say, Ryan went straight to his car and drove to the hospital.

Grace was unfazed by Ryan's words. His departure was a relief; she didn’t want to stay there either.

"Mr. Montgomery, Mrs. Montgomery, I didn’t expect such a misunderstanding. I apologize. Maybe I should head back home today," Grace said, excusing herself.

"Grace, you're a sensible girl. Don’t mind all this. Married men tend to behave better. Don’t worry. I’ll make sure your wedding date is set soon," Patrick insisted.

"Mr. Montgomery, I really don’t think Ryan and I are suitable for each other," Grace remarked.

"You and Ryan have been engaged since you were kids. It was a promise made by your mother. Don't overthink it; just prepare to be a bride," Patrick said, patting Grace’s shoulder with a smile that wasn’t sincere, even somewhat calculating.

The sense of powerlessness surged up once again, like an invisible hand clutching at Grace's heart. She knew she could never marry Ryan. She would have to think of some other way out.

Grace suggested it was time to leave, and Patrick didn't try to keep her there; he even arranged for a driver to take her home. It wasn't until she had left Montgomery Manor that she felt like she had revived.

She thought to herself, ‘Why did Mommy set up this marriage agreement for me? If she saw what I'm going through now, would she still have arranged this marriage?’
