Chapter 114 Is Grace inviting Him?

The next morning, Grace deliberately arrived late at the restaurant to avoid running into acquaintances.
What charm does this resort have to attract so many familiar faces to come and play here?

It was already half past ten, as the restaurant was almost empty when Grace went for breakfast.
She ordered half a bowl of oatmeal porridge and a small pastry.

With her phone in hand, she was reading today's financial news and didn't notice the two people walking towards her from behind.
Jessica signaled to Edith, who nodded and then walked toward Grace.

"Grace!" Edith called out Grace's name directly, then forcefully shook Grace's hand holding the phone.
Grace didn't expect the sudden attack, dropping the phone on the ground, as she was about to pick it up when Edith grabbed her.

"Come with me, I have something to ask you!" Edith pulled Grace, looking very fierce.

Meanwhile, Jessica picked up Grace's phone from the ground, with the screen was still on. Jessica quickly dialed a few numbers she got from Ryan yesterday to find Xavier's number.
Jessica saw the contact name as "Big Bad Wolf." She was puzzled but didn't dwell on it. Instead, she quickly opened the messaging app and sent a message.

Grace: [Xavier, are you coming to the Peak Pavilion tonight? I heard the stars are especially beautiful tonight.]
Jessica sent the message quickly and then deleted it from the records.
She smirked, thinking, 'If she couldn't make plans with Xavier, at least Grace could.'

Xavier had attended at the opening of Grace's brand last time, as well as had breakfast together yesterday, as Edith mentioned.
Since Grace wouldn't agree to help, Jessica had to resort to this method, even though Xavier rejected her, she didn't give up.

"Let go of me!" Grace shook off Edith. "What do you want?"
"Did you deliberately say those things in front of Omari yesterday?" Edith asked.
"Do you have paranoia?" Grace looked at Edith as if she were foolish.
"You!" Edith, naturally upset at being scolded.

Seeing Jessica had put the phone back on the ground and gestured okay to her, Edith said, "Grace, don't think you can make advantage for Angela. She can't please her parents on her own!"

"Jessica, I don't feel like eating anymore. Bad luck to see her. Let's go!" After saying that, Edith pulled Jessica away.
Edith asked outside the restaurant, "Jessica, how was my acting just now?"
"Good, not bad," Jessica praised half-heartedly.
"Jessica, will you be my friend from now on?" Edith really hoped to have a friend like Jessica.

When Jessica asked for her help this morning, she was quite happy.

"Sure," Jessica casually agreed, not really paying attention to what Edith was saying.
She needed to hurry back, pick out an outfit, and put on makeup in case Xavier really showed up tonight.

Meanwhile, Xavier was busy dealing with work, showing no signs of taking a break even if being at the resort. He came to the resort just to check things out and could have left the next day.
As to why he was still staying at the resort, Xavier couldn't quite explain it. Perhaps the office environment here was better.
While going through the pile of emails in his inbox, Xavier's phone suddenly rang.
It was a message from Grace, inviting him to stargaze together tonight. What was Grace up to? Wasn't this kind of romantic date more suitable for Ryan?

Xavier was busy today, with a regular workload and an international meeting in the evening that would likely last a long time, thinking it would disappoint Grace if he didn't show up, then made a call to Mason.

"Mr. Montgomery," Mason's voice quickly came through the phone.
"I won't be attending the meeting tonight," Xavier simply put forward.
"Mr. Montgomery, this..."

The meeting had been arranged well in advance, and other shareholders were also expected to attend. It wasn't a regular meeting, with Xavier's presence was crucial.

"What's the problem? It's just a meeting. Can't it proceed without me?" Xavier questioned.
Mason replied, "No, I'll inform them."

Xavier hung up without replying to Grace but couldn't help but smile slightly.

Grace found Edith's behavior inexplicable as well as Jessica's appearance.
She picked up her phone as nothing damaged. However, she noticed something odd when she turned on the screen, which should have displayed the news page upon reopening, instead of on the home screen, even though she was interrupted by Edith while reading the news.

Grace tapped on the phone but didn't notice anything unusual, feeling a bit uneasy, checking the surveillance footage above.
She approached the staff, claiming she had lost something and requested to view the restaurant's surveillance footage. Soon, she saw the segment where Jessica touched her phone.
Grace immediately confronted Jessica, who was currently selecting clothes, thinking about what to wear for her evening date with Xavier.

Hearing a knock on the door, Jessica opened it to find Grace standing there.

"Grace, what are you doing here?"
"Did you touch my phone?" Grace asked directly.
Jessica's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't expected Grace to find out.
"When did I touch your phone? I've only seen you twice in the past two days, not even for five minutes in total!" Jessica denied.

However, Grace directly played the surveillance video, clearly showing Jessica picking up her phone after Edith pulled her away.
Jessica fell silent. She hadn't anticipated Grace's cleverness in checking the surveillance.
With solid evidence against her, Jessica had no room for denial.
Grace's expression was cold, as Jessica couldn't help but notice the similarity between Grace's demeanor and Xavier's from the previous night.

"So, what did you do to my phone?" Grace inquired.
"I didn't do anything. I just picked up your phone and glanced at it when you dropped it," Jessica denied.

She couldn't afford to lose the opportunity she had worked so hard to gain.

"Did it take you that long to pick up the phone?" Grace asked.

It was obvious that Jessica had scrolled on the phone, although the surveillance footage was somewhat blurry.

Jessica couldn't come up with a response.

"Since you picked it up, why did you deny touching my phone in the first place?" Grace's logic was unexceptionable, leaving Jessica speechless.
