Chapter 035 Everyone's Blaming Grace
Madison tweeted, "I'm as shocked as everyone about this news. Although I managed the company's perfume department, I had no actual power, and just a few days ago, my half-sister Grace Lewis took my position. I'm completely unaware of any so-called plagiarism or excess chemicals. Once I investigate, I will explain everything."
And so, many people started to believe Madison, turning their ire towards Grace.

[I told you Madison couldn't have done something like this. She's a genius. Why would she need to do that?]
[Grace, do you believe you can let Madison take the fall for you? Has your conscience been eaten by a dog?]
[Seeing that Madison is being bullied breaks my heart. It's a shame I'm not by her side. Otherwise, I'd make Grace pay dearly!]
Madison has a lot of followers on Twitter, and she regularly posts photos sharing her life. Everyone knows what she looks like. Many people think she's beautiful and was always looking out for her.
Under one of Madison's Twitter posts, someone had commented.
[So, Madison, this whole mess has nothing to do with you. Could it be your sister Grace trying to set you up?]
Madison replied to the comment.
[I don't know. Although Grace has disliked me since we were kids, I've always treated her like my own sister.]
After Madison replied, even more people started lashing out at Grace.
Madison added…
[This is just how it is in my family. My mom remarried and brought me along, while my so-called sister bullied me every day. I have no status at home.]
Others reacted through the comments.
[Poor Madison. It turns out she's been treated so unfairly.]
Angela was so angry she nearly pounded the table. "That's infuriating! She's so shameless!" She continued, "How could she say such a thing? Did she consider you her real sister? Then why did she take over your room as soon as she got to your house, making you sleep in the servant's quarters?
"And when they went out for fun and gave their staff time off, they locked you in the house for days without food, claiming they just 'accidentally' forgot you! If she were in front of me, I'd give her a piece of my mind!"
Grace tried to calm her down, "Angela, getting angry over this isn't worth it. The more we let it get to us, the happier Madison becomes."
"But I can't just stand idly while watching her cover up the truth," Angela said righteously.
In response to Madison's slander, Grace got in touch with a lawyer directly. She had only been at the perfume department for a few days; how could she have stirred up such trouble?
Moreover, when she was the perfume department manager at Lewis Group, she went through the archives and found that each perfume release had Madison's signature on it. If Madison claimed ignorance, what about those signatures?
Madison explained that she was too busy and didn't look closely at the documents her subordinates gave her. She then shifted the blame onto them.
Regarding the accusations of plagiarism, Madison flatly denied them, claiming the designs came from her inspiration. Her words all suggested, how could someone as famous as her ever need to plagiarize.
In addition to this, Madison mocked Grace, saying she conspired to frame her, and that Grace didn't understand perfume crafting and was unqualified to manage the department.
Madison even went as far as to hire someone to pretend to leak a story claiming that Grace managed to collaborate with Reed Group because she had a relationship with the boss of Reed Group, Tom. The leak also mentioned that the two didn't just meet at hotels but also frequented bars and pointed out that Tom was already married.
Kelly was thrilled to see these rumors and went on to post from another account, saying Grace was engaged and that her actions amounted to infidelity.
Infidelity, mistresses, and extramarital affairs are viewed with disdain by most.
Instantly, countless insults were hurled toward Grace.
Kelly deliberately showed those comments to Ryan. These past few days, Ryan had been frantically searching for that woman as if he were under a curse.
Initially, Kelly was very worried, but after realizing Ryan couldn't find the woman, she felt slightly relieved. Yet, she still thought the woman was chaos.
"Ryan, look at Grace. She's caused such an uproar, impacting the Montgomery family's reputation," Kelly whispered in Ryan's ear.
Ryan grew irritated whenever he saw Grace. "Don't talk to me about her. She deserves all the hate!"
Grace was now utterly alone. She tried to clear things up on Twitter, but no one believed her. They only trusted what they thought was the fact.
Beyond the online criticisms, both Ryan and Zach had called her countless times. In front of the media, Zach even declared he didn't have such a daughter.
Xavier wasn't online and was clueless about the online saga.
It was Victor who called to inform him. "Xavier, how's your little girlfriend doing?"
"Little girlfriend?" Xavier was puzzled.
"Ryan's fiancée. I saw so many people slandering her online. The netizens are quite cruel. Is she okay?" he asked Xavier.
Victor quickly called Xavier after seeing the news.
The insults were brutal and disgusting. As a man, he could hardly bear them, let alone Grace being a young woman. This was cyberbullying. If Grace were fragile, it might have driven her to suicide.
"What happened?" Xavier's voice suddenly turned cold.
Victor was surprised Xavier didn't know and quickly recounted the events.
Whether it was the bar or the hotel, the stories about Grace and Tom were false. Victor was there and knew that their interaction was strictly business.
"Grace must be heartbroken right now. If she can't handle this, that would be terrible. If she gets depressed or... or worse..." Victor's words were cut off as Xavier abruptly hung up the phone.
Xavier thought, ‘What did Victor just mention? Twitter?’
At the cutting edge of their field, the DG Group was always a step ahead in the industry. However, Xavier was decidedly the one person in the company who wasn’t tech-savvy. He only kept up with financial news but had never bothered with other types of coverage.
He wasn't much for surfing the internet, and his phone lacked the app that Victor had mentioned.
Prompted by curiosity, Xavier downloaded Twitter and searched for Grace's name. Instantly, he was bombarded with a torrent of abuse and malice from all corners of the world. The more he read, the deeper his frown became.
