Chapter 414 Discovering Grace's Slightly Swollen Belly

"That's my number!" Grace exclaimed, totally shocked.

She double-checked each digit, and yep, it was definitely her number.

Something was stirring inside her. Why would Xavier label her as 'Wife'?

Wasn't he just with her for revenge? Didn't he have zero feelings for her?

Grace's eyes started to tear up again. She glanced at the pale-faced Xavier lying on the bed. She really wanted to ask him what this was all about.

Grace stood there, dazed for a bit, before dialing Mason's number.

"Mr. Montgomery." Mason was always on call, handling tons of stuff for Xavier, who always treated him well.

"It's Grace," she said. "Xavier fainted, he..."

Her voice cracked a little. She bit her lip hard to keep it together.

Grace asked, "The doctor said he's been overworked. Has he not been resting well?"

Mason was quiet for a moment. "Yeah, Mr. Montgomery's been super busy. Ever since Mr. Park died, he hasn't had a proper rest. Besides the DG Group's work, there's also the Park Group's."

Especially since the Park Group was in chaos, with major shareholders circling like vultures. If it weren't for Xavier, it would've been split up long ago, and Stephanie wouldn't have gotten any assets.

After all, it was Joseph's life's work, so Xavier did his best to protect it for him.

Maybe Stephanie couldn't handle the pressure and gave all her shares to some random minor shareholder.

"Who did you say died?" Grace was stunned.

Joseph was Stephanie's grandpa?

How did she not know about this? When did it happen?

Mason replied, "It's pretty confidential and hasn't been made public yet."

It seemed Stephanie's grandpa had died not long ago. However, the last few times she saw Stephanie, she acted like nothing had happened and was still showing off.

She remembered that Stephanie's grandpa treated Stephanie really well. Online, people said Joseph doted on Stephanie. How could Stephanie not show any signs of sadness after his death?

"And Xavier..." Grace wanted to ask something but didn't know what.

Her situation with Xavier shouldn't have anything to do with the Park family, so asking would be pointless. Grace said, "He needs someone to take care of him here. Can you send a few people over? It's at the vacation villa. I'll send you the address."

Mason said, "It's really late now, and it might not be convenient. Others should be resting. Ms. Lewis, how about you help take care of Mr. Montgomery?"

Mason added, "Mr. Montgomery's been super busy and tired lately, with almost no time to rest. I'm afraid he'll end up in the hospital. My worst fear has come true. I'm in Oakworth and can't come over. Ms. Lewis, please help look after him for the night."

"But I..." Grace wanted to refuse, but it felt impossible to turn it down.

Mason continued, "Mr. Montgomery is so pitiful. He's fallen ill, and there's no one by his side. If you really don't want to, just leave him there. He'll leave by himself when he wakes up."

Mason added, "Mr. Montgomery lost his mom when he was just a kid and got kicked out by the Montgomery family. He's been on his own for a long time. When he fainted as a child, he'd wake up and crawl back to bed by himself. Even when he was sick, no one was there to take care of him."

Mason sighed heavily. "He's used to all this."

Mason's words hit Grace hard. Every time she heard stuff like this, she couldn't help but feel sorry for Xavier.

Xavier definitely had a rough life, probably from childhood all the way to now.

But then again, with just one call from Xavier, Stephanie or any other woman would come running.

Still, Grace felt a pang of sadness. She thought of her baby. When the baby was born, she would protect him well and never let him suffer like his father did.

Xavier had endured all the hardships in this world. She didn't want her child to go through the same.

Whether it was a boy or a girl, Grace would love them dearly.

In the end, Grace didn't leave and stayed to watch over Xavier.

As the night went on, Grace wanted to put on an extra garment but found her hand tightly held.

Grace had to keep sitting, yawning.

Sleepiness took over, and she couldn't hold on. She lay on the bedside, resting her head on Xavier's hand, and fell into a deep sleep.

When Xavier woke up, he found his hand numb from being pressed.

The room wasn't too bright, with only a bedside lamp on. As Xavier opened his eyes, he saw Grace by the bed.

Grace was holding his hand, resting her head on it. Xavier didn't dare to breathe, afraid his breath would wake her up.

A wave of immense joy and excitement surged through his heart.

He thought Grace had left, but when he opened his eyes, she was right there.

Xavier moved slightly. He didn't know if this was a dream. It must be a dream; otherwise, how could he see Grace?

But why could he feel her warmth if it was just a dream?

It was winter, and although the room was warm, Xavier wondered if Grace would be cold. He gently lifted her onto the bed.

She was sleeping soundly. She seemed real, with warmth and breath.

Her lips were still swollen, and there were kiss marks he had left on her body.

The bed wasn't small. As Grace and Xavier lay on it, Xavier looked at her up close, not wanting to blink.

He remembered some of what happened last night. These past few days, he had been so jealous, seeing one man after another appear around Grace, all of them having feelings for and longing for his Grace!

He had clearly rejected Grace, but he was afraid she would really start dating these men.

Only recently did he realize how deep his love for Grace was.

Though he thought he could let go and forget, he couldn't; his possessiveness for her only grew stronger.

He really wanted to make Grace his own, to hide her away so only he could see her.

Xavier had never longed for anything in his life as much as he longed for Grace.

He restrained himself from holding Grace too tightly, afraid of waking her.

His hand rested on Grace's waist, gently stroking. Then he noticed, had Grace gained a little weight?

There was no judgment, just an observation that her belly seemed slightly rounded.
