Chapter 441 I Won't Marry You
"So you're admitting it, the shooting is related to you, it was your arrangement, and you also caused Joseph's death?"
Xavier directly extracted the key information and said it in front of Stephanie, exposing the truth Stephanie most wanted to avoid, forcing her to face it.
Stephanie cried and shook her head, "It wasn't me; I didn't do it."
"Is there any point in denying it now? You can fool others, but don't fool yourself."
Stephanie wiped her tears. "Does it matter? It doesn't matter, Xavier. In front of my grandfather, do you think you're being fair to me?"
"Do you know what kind of life I'm living now? You clearly promised my grandfather to take good care of me, but I was treated like that by those people, and you didn't even come to see me. Are you being fair to my grandfather?"
Stephanie still blamed everything on Xavier, thinking it was the world's fault, not hers.
"Adults should pay for their actions. You are not the center of the world, and the world will not revolve around you. What you are experiencing now is what you deserve."
Xavier had no sympathy for Stephanie; she deserved it.
"No, my grandfather said I was born a princess, and my status should have everything."
"But you killed your grandfather for your ridiculous and selfish desires."
"No, it's not like that." Stephanie still wanted to argue, but her words were weak and unconvincing.
"Since everything is clear now, let's talk about our matters in front of Joseph. I promised Joseph to take care of you and marry you because I thought you were really helpless and that Joseph died because of me. But you handed over the company Joseph left you to someone else."
"I never liked you, nor had any feelings for you. I can't lie to myself, nor can I marry you."
"My promise to marry you is now officially void. In return, I will compensate you with money. You can ask for as much as you want, but if you dare to trouble Grace again, don't blame me for being rude."
"Xavier, don't." Stephanie tried to hug Xavier, but he stepped back, and she missed.
"Don't treat me like this. I only have you; I really only have you."
However, Xavier felt no pity. Stephanie's current situation was her own doing. God once favored her, but she ruined it herself.
"Repent here." Xavier didn't want to see Stephanie at all.
He couldn't imagine how evil a person had to be to kill their grandfather.
He wanted Stephanie to spend the rest of her life in regret and pain.
Stephanie tried to chase after him, but Mason and others restrained her, "Ms. Park, Mr. Montgomery said you should repent here. Stay here."
"Let go of me, don't stop me. Xavier, you can't do this to me. If you do, I won't let Grace go!" Stephanie screamed like a madwoman.
Mason said, "Ms. Park, you should take care of yourself first."
Joseph's tombstone was with Stephanie's parents' tombstones. Xavier buried Joseph with his son and daughter-in-law, reuniting the family.
Stephanie still didn't think she was wrong. What was wrong with liking Xavier?
Until the evening, she felt the place was desolate and scary. When the wind blew, it sounded like ghosts were wailing.
Stephanie was terrified, but Xavier's men were watching her, not letting her escape.
In the middle of the night, Stephanie saw a white figure in the air. It was...
"Grandfather." Stephanie looked at the figure in horror, rubbing her eyes, thinking she was seeing things.
"Stephanie, I loved you so much; why did you kill me?" Joseph's voice came.
Stephanie quickly knelt, "Grandfather, I was wrong. I really know I was wrong. Can you not haunt me? I am your most beloved granddaughter."
"Why did you arrange the shooting? Why?" Joseph's voice continued.
Stephanie was scared out of her wits, "It wasn't me, it was Aiden."
"Then why did you poison me?"
"I didn't mean to, grandfather. I just wanted Xavier to come back. I didn't intend for anything to happen to you. You kept opposing Xavier and me being together. I had no choice, grandfather. Please don't worry about me. I will visit you more often."
Stephanie, scared, confessed everything. The truth was clear.
Not far away, Xavier and Mason were watching.
"Did you record everything?" Xavier asked.
There was a hidden camera, recording everything clearly.
Joseph's ghost was a projection created by Xavier using technology. Only Stephanie, with a guilty conscience, would be so scared.
"Very clear, Ms. Park admitted everything."
Stephanie was still kneeling, confessing, and begging Joseph to forgive her.
Xavier nodded, "This is the evidence. Proceed with the lawsuit against Aiden for attempted murder."
"What about Ms. Park?" Mason asked.
"Let her kneel here for three days, then send her back to the Park Mansion. Have someone watch her; don't let her leave the house."
This was Xavier's last act of mercy towards Stephanie, for Joseph's sake.
Xavier looked at Mason, "Give me your phone."
Mason didn't know what Xavier wanted to do but handed him the phone.
Xavier opened Mason's Facebook and found Grace, then opened Grace's Facebook.
Grace hadn't posted anything new; stillshe was on her last post.
Mason remained silent, thinking Xavier was going to do something, but he was looking at Grace's Facebook.
Xavier returned to the car, took out his phone, and opened Grace's photo.
In the photo, Grace was smiling brightly. Her smile seemed to have a magical power, sweeping away Xavier's fatigue.
He gently touched the screen, as if touching Grace.
He wondered what Grace was doing now. It should be daytime in Country E.
Did Grace go out today, and with whom?
Xavier lit a cigarette and started smoking. Recently, his smoking habit had increased. Xavier only smoked when he was stressed or upset.
But this time was different. Now, it was the most relaxed moment he had in a long time.
