Chapter 033 Unable to Watch Himself Sink Soberly

When Grace stepped out of the bathroom more than an hour later, she was alone, with no idea how much longer Xavier would wait.

Based on the last two times, she knew once would certainly not be enough for him. He proved once again that not only was he not getting older, but he was also full of vigor.

Grace was exhausted; not only were her knees nearly numb, but her lips were swollen too. Xavier complained about her performance, telling her to practice more in the future.

She thought, ‘Practice more? What does that mean? I surely can't practice alone—is Mr. Montgomery planning on seeing me more often? Can I date him, or do I have to break off my engagement with Ryan?’

Grace planned to find another opportunity to talk to Xavier about this matter. If he was willing to help her, Patrick certainly wouldn't make things difficult for her.

She thought to herself, ‘Xavier is probably most agreeable in bed. Had I known, I would have threatened him right there in the bathroom earlier. If he didn't agree, I would bite it off and make sure he could never be a man again. But I missed that chance, so I can only wait until he comes out to bring it up.’

However, as she was about to fall asleep, Xavier hadn't come out yet.

Afterward, she felt the blanket being moved and a cold body lying down, Grace realized Xavier had taken a cold shower.

It was very late, and she could hardly keep her eyes open. She snuggled closer to Xavier to give him some warmth.

Xavier felt her closeness, but he couldn't stay awake any longer and continue this way.

Reminding himself that Grace was Ryan's fiancée and the daughter of his enemy. He silently resolved that there would be no next time!

When Grace woke up the next day, Xavier was gone. After she went into the bathroom, she noticed her lips were still swollen!

Once she finished getting ready, she saw breakfast set on the table, complete with a hot cup of coffee. Grace sat down, cradling the warm coffee in her hands.

She wanted to tell Xavier that she was leaving the hotel, but realized she didn't have his contact information!

She thought to herself, ‘Next time we meet, I'm surely getting his contact info!’
Grace bought a mask and wore it back to the office.

On her way to work, Angela called.

"Grace, tell me how last night went. Or I'm coming to the office to find out. Was it intense? Was he any good? Was he the rich, handsome guy from last night's party? Do I know him? Is it the guy who brought you water that one time?" she barraged Grace with her questions filled with curiosity.

"I can't tell you, nothing happened last night," Grace answered.

"Why not?" Angela questioned.

Grace replied, "Because I got my period."

Angela immediately understood and said regretfully, "So you're still a virgin."

Grace pinched the bridge of her nose, stressed, but didn't respond.

"Grace, Ryan has been asking me all morning who that beautiful woman was last night. He insists on knowing who she is and says he fell for you at first sight, and that he's deeply in love with you," Angela informed.

"What do you think would happen if he knew the truth, that the person he likes is his least favorite person? Would he want to slap himself?" Angela rationalized.

"He's just talking; he probably says similar things to a lot of women. He keeps saying he likes Kelly," Grace said, not really caring about Ryan's words.

"Yeah, what are the Montgomerys thinking? They insist that Ryan should marry you. Why is that? Could it be that you have royal blood, or is there a treasure only you can unlock? Is that why Patrick is so set on you marrying Ryan?" Angela wondered aloud.

Grace shook her head with a resigned smile. "Do you think my life is like a TV series, you love to make wild guesses like that? Why don't you become a screenwriter, instead?"

"I can't think of any other reason, so I had to let my imagination run into fiction territory," Angela replied, still puzzled about why Grace absolutely had to marry Ryan. It was something that Grace herself had never been able to understand.

Grace replied, "I've got to go, Angela, I'm about to reach the office."

"All right, all right, focus on your work. My brother said he's going to take us out to dinner in a few days," Angela informed.

Omari was the only person in the Turner family who had a decent relationship with Angela.

Grace parked her car at the entrance of the Lewis Group headquarters. The company’s growth was significant, now boasting over five thousand staff members, placing it firmly among the larger corporations.

Stepping out of her car, Grace was surprised to see someone waiting for her at the entrance. There was still ten minutes before work began, and it was the first time she had seen Madison at the company this early.

Nearby stood the head of the Human Resources department. Madison sat at the entrance, catching the eyes of passersby.

Disregarding the onlookers, Madison’s focus was solely on Grace, and she shouted, "Stop right there!"

Grace walked right past her without hesitating.

"Did you go deaf when I told you to stop?" Madison bellowed.

"Are you talking to me?" Grace stopped and turned to Madison. "It's so early in the morning, and I thought someone’s dog was barking. Oh, my mistake, it's just you being noisy."

"How dare you call me a dog!" Madison was furious.

Grace shrugged, "Did I insult you? Did you hear me say your name?"

Madison couldn't out-argue Grace but always seemed to find a way to try to cause her trouble. "Grace, you're late; you're fired!"

"The company rules state work starts at nine, and it's still eight minutes until the shift starts. And may I ask, what's your current position here?"

Madison finally felt she had reclaimed her pride and smugly sat back down, then gestured for the HR manager to speak to Grace.

The HR manager, not wanting to anger the chairman's daughter, spoke up. "Madison is now a supervisor, overseeing several departments. She is now your boss. You need to follow her orders. She moved the start time to eight o'clock, so you are late!"

Grace was stunned. Madison a supervisor? She had always believed that high-ranking roles should match high competence. People had worked their whole lives without reaching such positions, and here Madison was, presumably catapulted to supervisor by merely fluttering her eyelashes.

Some people are born at a finish line that others could never reach. But Grace couldn’t help wondering, did Madison really deserve to sit in that seat?

Grace didn't feel it was unfair to herself; she believed Madison's actions trampled over the efforts of others, draining hope from many who had been striving tirelessly.

"Grace, I'm your boss, you have to listen to me!" Madison gloated as she watched Grace's look of helpless resignation.

She enjoyed seeing Grace squirm, but Grace's next words stunned Madison, her eyes widening in surprise.
