Chapter 565 Grace Meets the Princess
"A bunch of useless idiots!" Jared yelled, smashing things around his house when he found out Jane was still alive and had been taken by someone.
The guy delivering the news barely dared to breathe, terrified Jared might turn his fury on him.
"So many of you, and you couldn't even kill one woman? And you just let someone take her right out from under your noses! What the hell are you all doing?"
The worst part was, they had no clue who had taken her or where she was now.
The guy reporting said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Peterson. We had to use outsiders to avoid suspicion falling on us."
These outsiders were naturally not as skilled as their own people, and they hadn't expected someone to find a flaw, leading to this mess.
"You're still making excuses?" Jared's anger was boiling over.
If Jane wasn't dead, it would ruin his plans!
"No excuses, it's all our fault. We'll take any punishment."
"Get out!" Jared grabbed an ashtray and hurled it at the man's head.
The man didn't dare to dodge, taking the hit directly. The heavy ashtray caused his head to bleed instantly, and his head buzzed, but he didn't dare say anything.
He could only cover his head and leave quickly.
Jared sparing his life was already a mercy.
A shrewd look flashed in Jared's eyes. Now that Jane was in Skigeth, he couldn't let her meet Grace.
Or maybe he should find Grace first and uncover the secrets Elizabeth had hidden. Once he had those, Grace would be of no use to him.
Elizabeth's research from twenty years ago was still groundbreaking today.
And if it weren't for Elizabeth, Dorian would never have become king.
Elizabeth had been a treasure, but unfortunately, she hadn't worked for him.
Jared had been hanging around Grace recently. He sent her a message again: [Grace, do you have time? I'd like to have dinner with you.]
Jared always referred to himself as "Dad" when messaging Grace.
He needed Grace to get used to it, to know he was her father, so she would trust him.
Jared had searched through all of Elizabeth's belongings and found nothing. He was sure Elizabeth wouldn't have left this world with such important things, so they must still be with Grace.
But Grace didn't know about them, so he had to find them himself.
"Sorry, Mr. Peterson, I'm busy. And I've told you before, don't call yourself that. My mom wouldn't like it."
"Sorry, my mistake. I was just thinking about your mom and wanted to have dinner with you. Today is our twenty-sixth anniversary, and I miss her. I have a lot to talk to you about."
Grace frowned at the mention of the anniversary.
Could Jared really be so sentimental, remembering an anniversary?
But so what? It was too late to say these things now. Where was he back then?
"Sorry, don't message me again." Grace didn't trust Jared.
Jared clenched his fist at Grace's refusal.
Grace was just as difficult as Elizabeth had been!
Almost all of Elizabeth's belongings were with Grace now. He had to find a way to search Grace's place.
Meanwhile, Jane had fainted from fear and slept for several hours before waking up.
When Jane saw Robert, she was so emotional she almost cried.
"Robert, Robert!"
"It's me, Jane. It's okay now. Everything's okay."
"Those people tried to kill me and locked me up. I want to find them all and make them pay!" Now that Jane was safe, her ruthless side emerged again.
How dare they kidnap her? Didn't they know who she was?
Anyone who crossed her had to die.
"Calm down. We're already investigating. But why did you suddenly come to Skigeth?"
Jane's eyes flickered. "No reason, just heard the scenery was nice and wanted to check it out."
Robert didn't suspect anything because he didn't know Jane had other motives.
"By the way, we owe a lot to Xavier and Grace. We should find a way to thank them. If it weren't for their help, you might have been in real trouble."
"Grace?" Jane's eyes flashed with something. So it was this person who saved her.
But she didn't like Grace's eyes, which resembled Elizabeth's. They made her uncomfortable and annoyed.
And she absolutely despised this place, Vesperia. She would never come here again!
But since Grace had saved her, she could reluctantly agree to meet her.
"Fine, arrange for Grace to come over."
"Jane, it's only proper to visit Grace and thank her in person," Robert said.
"You want me to go thank her? Do you know who I am? She doesn't deserve it."
Robert felt like Jane had changed, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He remembered Jane as kind and gentle.
Maybe it was the shock she had experienced. Robert said, "I'll contact her."
Grace received Robert's call and was relieved to hear Jane was okay.
"That's good to hear. No need to thank us."
"We must. You and Xavier should come over. I'm at the hotel, too shaken to go out. Let's have dinner to thank you."
"Alright, I'll talk to Xavier."
Grace told Xavier, and he had no objections.
Jane got ready and touched up her makeup.
Robert booked a restaurant in the hotel.
Grace and Xavier arrived quickly, and Robert went down to greet them.
He waited at the entrance. Skigeth had many foreigners, but tall, handsome, blonde, blue-eyed women were rare.
Grace had always appeared ordinary when Robert saw her before. This was the first time she met him with her true appearance.
Xavier went to park the car, and Grace walked up to Robert. He looked at her several times but didn't recognize her.
He even messaged Grace: [There are so many beautiful women in Skigeth. I just saw one, and she's stunning.]
Grace stayed silent.
[Is the person you saw still in front of you?]
Robert replied: [Yes! I think she's waiting for someone.]
[How do you know? Are you here?] Robert looked around.
Grace replied: [Guess who she's messaging?]
[How would I know?] Robert thought Grace was telling him to flirt.
Grace waved her phone and said, "Of course, she's messaging you, dummy!"
Robert was stunned. "You're Grace?"
"The one and only!"
"How did you change so much? We just saw each other in Aetheria a few months ago. How did you get so beautiful?" Robert couldn't believe it.
If Jane saw Grace looking this beautiful, she would be shocked too.
