Chapter 336 Dad, You're Hurting Me
The box was small, and the fact that it could fit in such a hidden compartment indicated that there must be something important inside.
Kelly took it out and, upon opening it, found a crystal split into two halves.
The crystal had a cold, delicate appearance, almost as if it was glowing, clearly very valuable.
If it was just a piece of crystal, why hide it so mysteriously in this secret compartment?
Kelly's intuition told her that this crystal was not simple.
She didn't know the function of crystal and didn't dare to take it easily. If Patrick found out, it would be a bad idea.
Kelly took out her phone and took a picture of the crystal. She might be able to find out what it was for.
With this, Kelly quickly put it back with more observation, finding nothing else, and arranged the books back in their original positions as per the photos she had taken earlier.
At that moment, she heard some noise downstairs. After quickly finishing up, she left the study.
Patrick had returned.
Patrick drank a lot, perhaps celebrating something.
It was already autumn, but Kelly was still wearing a short silk nightgown. She was pregnant as her belly had grown, but she still maintained a slender figure.
Kieran and the other servants helped Patrick upstairs and went to prepare some hangover soup for him.
Kelly pretended to be woken up by the noise and told Kieran and the others to leave after they were done.
The hangover soup was placed nearby, and Patrick leaned against the bed. Kelly knocked on the door and then walked into the room.
"Dad, why did you drink so much?" she asked, feigning concern as she sat beside him.
Wearing a short skirt, Kelly deliberately lifted it a bit, exposing her thighs.
She was still so fair-skinned. Because of the pregnancy, she felt her chest had grown larger, so she proudly pushed out her chest.
Pretending to pull the blanket over Patrick, most of her body was pressed against him, and she deliberately bent down, letting her chest brush against Patrick's arm. From Patrick's angle, he could see Kelly's entire body.
Patrick, who had his eyes closed, suddenly opened them and grabbed Kelly's wrist: "Get out!"
His face showed exceptionally disgust, but Kelly didn't care.
Kelly's hand hooked Patrick's arm. "Dad, you're hurting me."
"I saw you were drunk, and since no one else was home, I thought I'd look after you. Why are you being so mean?" she continued.
Patrick then let go of Kelly: "Get out!"
"Dad, let me do something. Otherwise, when Ryan comes back, he'll say I'm heartless."
Kelly's voice was low, using her usual coquettish tone.
Her chest rubbed against Patrick, and her skirt was pulled higher and higher, almost revealing her lace underwear.
Patrick's eyes flickered. Whether it was because he was drunk or because he hadn't sex with a woman for a long time, he actually felt something for his daughter-in-law Kelly at that moment.
It seemed he needed to relieve his desires.
This Kelly was no good. Even though Patrick was drunk, he still maintained his last bit of rationality and shouted, "Get out!"
Feeling Patrick's stiff arm, Kelly knew he felt something.
She had observed long ago that although Amy and Patrick seemed like a loving couple, Patrick didn't really like Amy.
He was always busy, and Amy often complained that he didn't love her enough.
She needed to take it slow. She firmly believed that with her skills and charm, she could control Patrick.
In the blink of an eye, Grace had been in Oakworth for several days.
Grace had given most of the necessary instructions, and Lily was getting the hang of things, quickly hiring staff. The Oakworth branch was beginning to take shape.
Xavier was still very busy, and it was only in Oakworth that Grace saw how busy he was.
If Grace weren't also in Oakworth, Xavier probably wouldn't come back to their place at night.
After several busy days, Xavier finally had some free time.
The next day, Grace noticed that Xavier didn't leave early in the morning and asked, "Don't you have to work today?"
She had been staying with Xavier for the past few days. The hotel she had originally booked had long been canceled by Xavier. Although she didn't want to rely on Xavier, he insisted they stay together.
Xavier said, "Remember I told you about a small gathering? I'm taking you to meet my friends."
Grace remembered, but this gathering seemed to be an intimate affair, and she felt a bit nervous.
Grace felt like she was being introduced to his friends.
"Do I need to prepare anything? Should I wear a dress?" Grace asked.
"No need, it's just a casual gathering with a few friends. Just wear your usual clothes."
Grace nodded. Although Xavier said it was casual, she still felt she should pay attention, at least not to embarrass Xavier.
In Oakworth, Stephanie knew almost everyone in Xavier's circle. After all, to pursue Xavier, she had to cut into his circle, even if some didn't like her.
Today's gathering didn't invite Stephanie. But when she heard about it, she insisted on joining.
What was supposed to be a small party turned into a large gathering under Stephanie's arrangements.
Stephanie even invited her friends, telling them to dress up and give Grace a hard time, to embarrass her in every way.
Grace, a poor girl from a small town, had no right to attend a party with the wealthy girls of Oakworth.
Stephanie also invited some friends who secretly thought he was a hypocrite and often badmouthed him behind his back. She even had a plan to humiliate Grace tonight, so she'd never be able to show her face in front of them again.
Xavier cared about his reputation. If Grace was embarrassed, it would reflect badly on him. Let's see if he still cared about Grace when things got out of hand.
"Tonight, you're all targeting her. Whoever does the best job, the Park Group will prioritize working with your company next year," Stephanie instructed.
In the afternoon, Grace got ready and prepared to leave with Xavier.
She asked Xavier if she needed to put on makeup or just go as she was. Xavier said she looked fine as she usually did.
He knew Grace had her reasons for disguising herself and didn't want her to change just to please him.
Moreover, the fewer individuals aware of Grace's true visage, the better.
