Chapter 366 Grace Discovers the Secret of the Crystal

After finishing her meal, Grace mulled over what Angela had said. She really should get a check-up.

It seemed like her period had been MIA for a while.

Grace was unsure; if something was up, she wouldn't have a clue what to do.

The next day, Grace got up early and headed to the Montgomery Group.

She had an appointment with Patrick and went straight to his company.

Despite the awkwardness last time, Grace showed up with two bodyguards this time, looking all tough and ready.

In the office, besides Patrick, Ryan was there too.

This was the first time Grace had seen Ryan since the resort trip. He looked more mature but also more worn out. Marriage seemed to be rough on him.

When Ryan saw Grace, he couldn't stop staring.

Grace was rocking a turtleneck sweater, a coat, and an A-line skirt, looking super stylish. Her long wavy hair made her look even more elegant.

Even though she still had her "ugly" disguise on, Ryan thought she looked radiant.

He even thought Grace was glowing, so stunning that he couldn't look away.

Grace walked in with someone beside her, and her bodyguards stood behind her, looking all intimidating.

Grace said, "Last time there was an incident, so I'm being more careful this time. Let's get down to business."

She kept it strictly professional, totally ignoring Ryan.

Ryan felt like everything had changed. He'd been daydreaming about what life would be like if he hadn't messed up at the engagement party and had married Grace.

He wouldn't be stuck in this miserable life, dreading going home to see Kelly.

He still liked Grace. Seeing her now made his heart race.

He used to look down on Grace, but now he realized she was way out of his league.

Ryan's lips moved like he wanted to say something to Grace but couldn't find the words.

Patrick, on the other hand, pulled out a contract and said, "Here's the share transfer agreement. Take a look."

Grace handed it to her legal advisor to review. After getting the all-clear, she signed it.

Since Patrick had already paid a deposit and the contract was solid, she wasn't worried about him backing out.

After signing, with nothing else to do, Grace didn't rush to leave though.

Grace crossed her legs and folded her arms, leaning casually against the sofa, but her relaxed posture still gave off a strong vibe. "Given the long-standing relationship between the Lewis and Montgomery families, I'll still call you Mr. Montgomery. I have a question. Does my mother have a crystal in your possession?"

"Yes," Patrick admitted without hesitation.

Grace had thought Patrick wouldn't admit it, but Ryan, who was clueless, asked, "Dad, what crystal?"

Grace said, "Since it's my mother's, Mr. Montgomery, can you return it to me?"

Patrick instantly replied, "Impossible, Grace. Don't even think about getting it back!"

"Why? That crystal belonged to my mom. Shouldn't I get it back? Or is there something special about it?" Grace stared him down.

Patrick, with his years in the business world, had a gaze that could make most people squirm.

Grace used to be one of those people, but not anymore. She met his eyes without flinching, which threw Patrick off. Her stare was intense.

Patrick could sense the strength of Xavier in her.

After a moment of silence, Patrick laughed loudly, "You've been with Xavier for so long, hasn't he told you?"

"What do you mean?" Grace frowned.

Patrick said, "Marrying you, having your marriage certificate and that crystal, can be exchanged for a ton of money, an unimaginable amount of wealth."

"What?" Both Grace and Ryan were floored.

Ryan was completely clueless about what Patrick was saying.

"Are you serious?" Grace didn't know if she could trust Patrick.

Patrick responded, "Yeah. This is the wealth your mother left for you. If you don't believe me, I can give you an address. You can ask at the notary office. I always wanted you to marry Ryan to get that money, but you and Ryan were never meant to be."

Grace finally got it; no wonder she had been so confused. Back then, she had nothing, yet Patrick had insisted on marrying her and even used Evelyn's ashes to pressure her. Now, it all made sense.

Patrick wanted to keep the money for himself.

"Xavier knows about this too," Patrick said bluntly.

Xavier was too smart to miss it. Maybe he knew Grace's secret from the moment he came to Skigeth. Otherwise, why would he approach Grace?

Grace frowned deeply. 'Does Xavier know about this too?'

Patrick's words couldn't be fully trusted. If this were true, she would have to go back and ask Xavier properly.

Patrick sneered and continued, "Do you think Xavier is with you for nothing? Do you really think he likes you?"

"Don't try to stir things up," Grace said calmly. "The DG Group is huge; Xavier doesn't need money."

"Xavier might not need money, but there are other things he might want," Patrick continued to provoke.

Even if he couldn't get it, he wouldn't let Xavier have it.

He wanted to see Xavier and Grace completely fall out.

"What's that?" Grace asked.

Patrick shrugged. "I don't know. But there's definitely something Xavier wants. I've said it before, don't think too highly of Xavier. He's not a good person. He's a master of deception, never showing any flaws. He has no sincerity. He's very good at pretending. You're no match for him, and neither am I. But it seems his methods are very successful. You trust him a lot, don't you? Grace, don't be foolish. I'm the one looking out for you now."

Patrick intended to plant a seed of doubt in Grace's heart. Even though Grace trusted Xavier now, the future was uncertain.

“I don't care what his motives are. Since you're looking out for me, shouldn't the crystal be returned to me?” Grace ignored Patrick's attempts at sowing discord; she was solely focused on reclaiming Evelyn's possessions.

Patrick smiled, "What's the rush? I'll keep it safe for you. When you come to your senses, you'll thank me."
