Chapter 329 Xavier's Interest

"Who's the liar here?" Xavier's voice had this playful edge to it.

Grace shot back, "I didn't lie."

Xavier smirked, "Who said they'd thank me?"

Grace tried to get up, but Xavier pulled her back down. "I meant it literally. I did say thank you."

Xavier's thumb brushed her lips, his eyes dark and intense. "But when I say thank you, I mean something a bit more... hands-on."

"No way, I'm exhausted. I need sleep," Grace protested.

Last night was already a rollercoaster; she couldn't handle another round. But Xavier seemed ready for more. Under the same blanket, she could feel his intentions.

Xavier knew he had stuff to do today. If he got tangled up with Grace now, nothing would get done.

"I'll let it slide for now, but there will be interest," Xavier said.

Grace blinked. "Interest? What kind of interest?"

Xavier answered with a kiss, showing exactly what he meant.

Though he held back from going further, the kiss kept them in bed longer than planned.

Finally, Grace scrambled up. "No, I have things to do today."

She still had to verify Evelyn's ashes and check out a store she had an appointment to see.

Grace suddenly remembered. "That box, is it still outside?"

Xavier replied, "I already brought it in."

Good. Last night, she had forgotten about it and just put the bottle away. Her gut told her the glass bottle might have Evelyn's ashes.

Xavier had clothes sent over. He put on a shirt, buttoning it up, hiding his muscles under the fabric.

Grace blushed and looked away. Soon, Xavier was dressed in a suit, looking sharp. No one would guess how wild he was last night.

"How about I go with you for the verification tomorrow?" Xavier asked while putting on his suit.

He really couldn't skip work today; otherwise, he'd have gone with Grace.

"No need, I can handle it. Besides, you've already set everything up. I can go alone," Grace said.

She needed to be independent. Even though she was with Xavier, she didn't want to rely on him for everything. She wanted to be like him, not someone who always needed help.

"Yeah, Dominic's a good doctor," Xavier said.

Dominic Neville worked at the hospital and was top-notch.

Grace headed straight to the hospital, arriving just before Dominic's lunch break.

When she knocked on the door, a tall guy opened it.

He was wearing a mask, so only his eyes were visible. Grace felt like she knew him, like she'd seen him before. Then it hit her. Wasn't he the movie star Lucius Grey? She often saw him on TV and in the news! Lucius had even come to the opening of Iris, bringing her a lot of business. So, was Lucius sick?

"Come in," a voice called from inside, and Grace walked in.

"Mr. Neville, hello. I'm Xavier's friend. We have an appointment," Grace said.

Dominic was wearing a mask and a white coat. He looked young, with a shirt and tie under his coat, looking very professional.

Dominic's eyes landed on Grace, but it didn't make her feel weird or anything.

He was curious about her connection with Xavier; after all, this was the first time Xavier had asked him for a favor.

"Yeah, he told me. You want to verify some ashes, right?" Dominic asked.

"Yes, I want Mr. Neville to help verify if these are my mom's ashes," Grace replied.

She wasn't sure if Kelly was telling the truth, so she had to check. The ashes were so burnt that regular labs couldn't do much. But a specialized place like Dominic's might be able to.

"Alright, leave some of your samples along with your mom's ashes. I'll let you know if we find anything," Dominic said.

Grace left some saliva samples. "Okay, thanks, Mr. Neville."

As headed downstairs, she spotted someone acting all sneaky. He was wearing a mask and looked familiar.

Wasn't that Tristan Grey, the spokesperson for Iris-her brand? What was he doing here?

Grace walked over and tapped his shoulder. "What are you up to?"

Tristan saw it was Grace and relaxed.

"What's going on? Someone following you?" Grace asked.

"No," Tristan said. He was the one doing the following. He had seen Lucius come this way.

The Iris brand was killing it, and that boosted Tristan's popularity too. People were starting to notice how awesome he was.

Recently, Tristan had two TV shows airing. Even though he was just the third and fourth male lead, his acting was on point, and he was gaining fans.

Last time Grace talked to Tristan, he mentioned he had landed a movie role with Lucius.

"Are you sick too? It's almost fall, but it's not like you all should be getting sick. Do actors usually exercise less, so you all come to the hospital?" Grace teased.

"Who else did you see at the hospital?" Tristan asked.

"I'm not sure, but I think I saw Lucius," Grace said.

Tristan was shocked. "Where did he go?"

Grace shrugged. "Not sure. Why? You looking for him?"

"No, no," Tristan shook his head quickly.

"How did that movie you mentioned turn out? Partnering with Lucius must be awesome, right?" Grace continued.

Tristan's mood dropped. "No, he turned down the movie."

"What? Why?" Grace asked.

Tristan shook his head. "I don't know."

He said he didn't know, but he actually knew Lucius turned it down because he was in it.

Grace patted his shoulder. "It's okay. More opportunities will come. I told you before, you'll definitely make it big."

"Thanks, Ms. Lewis," Tristan said.

"We're friends, no need to be so formal. Let's grab a meal sometime," Grace suggested.

"Sure," Tristan agreed.

Grace waved goodbye and got ready to leave. She had other stuff to do.

Just as she got into her car, her phone rang. It was Xavier.

She had only talked to Tristan for a few minutes. Xavier couldn't be that possessive, right? Did he put a tracker on her?

"Hello, Mr. Montgomery," Grace answered.

On the other end, Xavier delivered news that made Grace's blood run cold. She was in disbelief, feeling a chill all over. How could this be?
