Chapter 423 He Is My Boyfriend

"Why are you here?" Angela asked, staring at the woman standing at her door.

"If I didn't show up, would you even remember you have a mother?" It was Angela's mom, Ainsley Phillips, with Edith by her side.

Ainsley started her usual scolding, "You don't come home in the middle of the night. Were you out messing around? And you even brought a guy back!"

"Mom, calm down. Your health isn't great. Don't get worked up over Angela," Edith said as she supported Ainsley.

Even though Angela was her real daughter, Ainsley just couldn't warm up to her. Angela was rough around the edges, rebellious, and rude, picking up all the bad habits from the streets. Edith, on the other hand, was different. Raised by Ainsley since she was little, she was always so thoughtful.

"Have you ever treated me like your daughter?" Angela shot back.

"You..." Ainsley got even more furious. "Why didn't you go to the blind dates I set up for you? Do you know the status of those men? You're lucky they even consider you, and you dare not go!"

Angela almost laughed out of frustration. They had set her up with so many blind dates, but all the guys were jerks. The latest one, though rich, was already thirty-nine, more than ten years older than her.

Angela didn't show up, so Ainsley came to confront her directly.

"So what if I didn't go? Stop setting me up on blind dates. Why don't you set Edith up instead?" Angela asked.

"Edith isn't in a hurry," Ainsley replied.

"Just because she's not in a hurry, does that mean I am? Do you think I can't get married?"

"I don't care. No matter what, you must go to the blind date tomorrow."

"I'm not going." Angela knew if she didn't put an end to this, her family wouldn't leave her alone.

Angela blurted out, "I have a boyfriend."

Then she looked at Scott standing next to her. "He's my boyfriend!"

Scott looked confused.

Ainsley eyed Scott. He looked quite handsome, tall, and very young.

Ainsley asked bluntly, "Do you have money? Our family's standards are high. The family fortune must be at least a billion dollars."

Scott stayed silent.

Only a billion dollars? That was nothing. He had hundreds of billions in his account.

Before he could say anything, Angela said, "He has no money. He's poor. But he loves me, and I like him. So forget about the blind dates. I won't go."

"How dare he cling to you without money? Angela, as your mother, would I harm you? I'm telling you, he's just after our family's money and your status as the Turner family heir!"

"I'm the Turner family heir, so what is she? You never treated me as part of the Turner family. You want me to marry just so those men can bring you benefits. You don't care about my happiness. Otherwise, why don't you let Edith go on blind dates?"

Angela got even angrier as she spoke. She grabbed Scott and shouted at Ainsley, "Move!"

Then she unlocked the door and went inside, leaving Ainsley and Edith outside.

From outside, there was still the sound of knocking. "Angela, come out! Who allowed you to speak to me like that? Are you trying to piss me off?"

"Why can't you be as obedient as Edith? Why did I end up with a daughter like you? I wish I had a daughter like Edith instead."

Edith said, "Mom, saying that will make Angela even angrier. No matter if I'm your biological daughter or not, I'm still your daughter. She just doesn't understand your intentions. She's been like this since she was a child, always going against you. I think she's too much."

Ainsley looked at Edith with pity. "Edith, you're so understanding. If only she were half as understanding as you."

Angela pretended not to hear. She'd heard this same spiel too many times over the years.

Edith always played the good girl, using every chance to badmouth her while pretending to be helpful, and Ainsley just ate it up.

Angela poured Scott a glass of water. "Sorry for dragging you into this. She's just too much sometimes."

Being constantly pushed to go on blind dates was driving Angela nuts.

"Was it really unintentional, or do you have some hidden agenda?" Scott asked, eyeing Angela.

Countless women had tried to seduce him before, but Angela's approach was the boldest yet—claiming he was her boyfriend right in front of her mom.

"Hidden agenda? Me?" Angela laughed like she'd heard the funniest joke ever.

Did he really think she was plotting something? She didn't like Scott, and how could she have known Ainsley and Edith would show up?

Angela said, "Has anyone ever told you that narcissism might be a disease? Maybe you should see a doctor?"

Scott replied, "Better not."

Angela shot back, "Of course, no one would!"

She wished she could kick Scott out right then. If Ainsley and Edith weren't still at the door, she wouldn't have let him in at all!

After a while, the noise outside stopped. Angela checked and saw that Ainsley and Edith had left.

Angela opened the door. "You can leave now. If you run into my mom downstairs, don't talk to her."

Scott stood up. "Goodbye."

Angela stayed silent.

Scott was polite enough, but she hoped they'd never cross paths again!

Scott left, and Angela couldn't wait to call Grace. "Grace, I'm so mad. You have no idea how narcissistic your brother is. He acts like he's the only exceptional man in the world. He..."

Angela ranted about Scott for a good half hour, and Grace just listened, laughing the whole time.

She'd never seen Angela so worked up over a guy before. Grace said, "Maybe it's fate."

"Fate with him? I just can't stand him!"

Angela had a lot to say about Scott.

Grace and Angela chatted a bit longer before saying goodnight.

Grace slept in until almost noon. She hadn't slept well, and she picked up her phone to find a message from Robert.

Last time in Country E, Grace had made a perfume for Princess Jane, who loved it and invited Grace to visit again.

Grace thought she might indeed go to Country E soon. After all, the Coleman family's roots were in Country E, and she might go back with Chase for a couple of days.

She wasn't sure yet but agreed to the invitation.

The Montgomery family had been having a tough time lately. Although the Montgomery Group hadn't gone bankrupt, it was being suppressed by the Coleman family and was in big trouble.

Kelly had returned home to recuperate and was recovering well.

However, her baby, born prematurely, was still in the incubator and in a critical period, requiring daily careful attention.

Ryan was extremely busy, running between the hospital and the company. Wendy found the house too depressing and went to stay with a friend, while Amy had returned to her hometown.

In short, Kelly was the only one at home.

Patrick had a social engagement and came back drunk. Kelly smiled and quickly went to support him. "Dad, why did you drink so much?"

She knew her opportunity had come.

Although it was winter, she was dressed lightly in a camisole dress that barely covered her hips, revealing her long legs.

Having just given birth, her breasts were still full. Without a bra, the thin dress stretched tightly across her chest.
