Chapter 281 The Only Keepsake from My Mom

Upon seeing Grace come out, Madison was annoyed. "Grace, I can't believe that you made me wait so long."

Grace said, "I didn't make you wait. What do you need?"

Madison asked, "Where have you been these past few days? I couldn't find you anywhere." This wasn't the first time Madison had come looking for Grace.

As a result, Grace's whereabouts had been unknown for the past two days, and Madison hadn't seen her at all.

Grace asked, "What do you need?"

"The rankings for the preliminary rounds of the fragrance competition have been announced, and now it's time for the finals. I have been shortlisted." Madison looked proud. After all, making it to the finals of the perfume competition was no easy feat.

"Really? Congratulations," Grace said calmly.

She didn't think Madison came over just to share this good news, assuming he probably had another motive.

Grace walked towards her office, and Madison followed her.

Madison said, "You said that you could give me the formula to help me place in the competition. When will I get that?"

"I also said it would be an equal exchange. Where's what I asked for?" Grace asked, extending her hand.

"You know I haven't even seen Zach," Madison said deliberately.

Actually, she had gone to see Zach, but Zach was unwilling to hand it over.

Grace continued with her work. "That's your issue."

Madison said, "Grace, I've come to see you for three days in a row. That shows my sincerity. Don't..." Realizing that word might offend Grac, Madison quickly changed her phrasing, "Don't refuse the opportunity I'm giving you."

Grace said, "I am not fond of the opportunity you have provided. Give my mother's keepsake, and I'll give you the formula. Otherwise, you can leave."

She then looked at her and continued, " There's not much time left before the finals to submit the perfume and formula. So you don't have much time to think about it."

Madison replied, "Could you change the terms? If necessary, I can concede on two projects."

However, Grace didn't have time to waste on Madison. She called out, "Lily, see her out."

Madison was thrown out as Grace seemed was unwilling to listen to any further arguments.. Grace had always been this annoying since she was a child; she hadn't changed a bit.

It seemed Madison could only ask Daniel for help in to get Zach to hand over Grace's mother's keepsake. What exactly was Grace's mother's keepsake that she valued so much? Grace actually had agreed to marry Ryan for those items.

In order to keep her promise to Victor and hang out tomorrow, Grace proactively attended to some work in advance.

That night, she worked overtime until midnight.

Although she didn't see Xavier, Grace and Xavier were still in touch.

Amidst her busy evening, Grace forgot to message Xavier Unexpectedly, Xavier took the initiative to send a message, which was a photo about dinner.

Grace sent a thumbs-up emoji. [Today's Xavier deserves praise.]

Xavier saw Grace's message and chuckled.

The next day, Grace arrived at the place she had agreed to meet Victor and the others for fun.

Since it was a day out, Grace dressed very casually. She had her hair tied up in a bun, looking youthful and sunny. People could easily believe she was a student.

Grace initially planned to drive herself to the racing base, but when she went downstairs, she ran into Xavier.

"You..." Before Grace could finish speaking, Xavier interrupted her, "Get in the car."

Xavier was driving, and Grace got into the passenger seat.

"Here's your breakfast." Xavier handed over breakfast.

Gracetook the breakfast from him.

Grace asked, "You didn't even ask if I had breakfast before bringing it. What if I had already eaten?"

Xavier said, "Kieran asked me to bring it for you."

Grace looked at him."Did Kieran also ask you to pick me up?"

Xavier just looked out the window without speaking.

"Where are we meeting Mr. Hastings and the others?" Grace asked while eating breakfast.

The breakfast was delicious, definitely made by Xavier's home chef, much better than store-bought breakfast.

Because she was so thin that Grace's cheeks didn't have much flesh. The breakfast puffed up her cheeks, making her look incredibly cute.

"Go to the racetrack." Xavier watched Grace through the rearview mirror, his subtle smile never faltering.

Before the car started moving, Grace seized the moment to press a piece of bread against Xavier's lips. "You should eat as well," she urged.

Xavier opened his mouth and ate the bread Grace offered.

If Xavier's friends from Oakworth saw this, they would be dumbfouned. They had tried the same thing before, but Xavier had slapped their hands away.

Not only did he not eat, but Xavier also even complained that they hadn't washed their hands.

Xavier had already had breakfast, but since Grace offered it, he ate it all.

After finishing breakfast, Xavier started the car.

As usual, Xavier was dressed in a shirt and suit, impeccably neat.

His shirt sleeves were rolled up to his wrists, revealing his strong forearms.

Xavier's hands were exceptionally beautiful, with fingers that resembled those drawn in manga. They appeared even more striking when he gripped the steering wheel.

His hands were slender, with visible veins on the back, and his forearm muscles were well-defined.

Adorning his wrist was the watch that Grace had gifted him. Grace thought he would have taken it off after their last argument, but Xavier had kept wearing it.

Along with the watch, there was also the hand chain.

Grace knew Xavier always wore that hand chain. The surface of the hand chain was no longer smooth, indicating it had been worn for many years.

Curious, she asked, "Xavier, does this hand chain have a special meaning for you?"

Otherwise, why would Xavier always wear it?

Xavier replied in a calm tone, "My mom gave it to me. It's pretty much her only keepsake."

Grace was surprised by this revelation.

"I'm sorry." She hadn't expected it to be Xavier's mother's keepsake.

No wonder Xavier always wore it and rarely took it off. The hand chain held immense significance for him.

In comparison, she wondered if she was luckier because her mother had left many things behind.

Some were with her, and some had been taken by Zach at the time.

However, she rarely heard Xavier mention his mother.

Perhaps it was off-limitsto Xavier. Despite not having knowledge of Xavier's mother,, she could imagine she must have been gentle, beautiful and loving. Otherwise, how could she have given birth to such a wonderful child as Xavier?
