Chapter 154 Letting Grace Be the Model
The news of Ryan taking wedding photos quickly reached Xavier's ears.
Looking at the photos of Ryan and Kelly, Mason thought Xavier would curse a bit, but to his surprise, Xavier only commented, "Quite fitting."
However, Xavier just glanced at it and then put aside the phone, as the sight was too eyesoring for him to bear.
"Mr. Montgomery, here is your updated schedule. Tomorrow morning, you have a meeting with partners to sign some agreements. There's a luncheon at noon, and in the evening, Mr. Lee, who has been trying to meet you for a long time, has an appointment."
Xavier's schedule was packed not just tomorrow but the day after tomorrow and even next week.
"Mr. Montgomery, you also need to go back to Oakworth for a fashion show next week. It was arranged earlier, and you are invited to attend."
"Alright," Xavier agreed.
Endless work had become a habit for him. He was even busier when he often traveled all over the world, the most absurd time being when he visited five countries in a single day.
Now that the company had stabilized, he didn't need to travel nationwide. More often, people came to him, giving him some free time.
He had been in Skigeth for a while, and it was indeed time to visit the headquarters.
"Did you get the perfume I asked you to order from Grace last time?"Xavier asked.
"No, Miss. Lewis refused." Mason had to say truthfully.
Mason had contacted Grace many times, but she just wouldn't agree, and he didn't understand why.
"Refused? Not enough money?"
Other than that, Xavier couldn't think of any reason why Grace would refuse.
"Probably not. Miss. Lewis didn't give a specific reason. I'll keep following up," Mason replied.
"No need. If she doesn't agree, just forget it. You can go now."
"Yes, Mr. Montgomery."
Angela had been busy lately. This fashion show was a big exhibition, and not every studio had the chance to participate, but she was invited!
Angela loved watching models walk the runway in her clothes and seeing them perfectly showcased by others.
This time, it was also a competition. If she won, many companies would seek to collaborate. Angela's studio wasn't lacking in popularity, but she aimed to expand internationally.
Therefore, Angela took this fashion show very seriously. She made the clothes herself and personally selected the models.
Finding a satisfactory model wasn't easy. The top models had long been booked by other well-known companies, and it was even harder for ordinary models to bring out the desired aura in the clothes.
Angela was busy to the point of exhaustion, and Grace knew it. So, these days she frequently brought meals to Angela, as otherwise, she might be too caught up to eat.
Angela treated her well, so she naturally treated her well in return.
When Angela came back busy, Grace wiped her sweat. "Eat something first."
Angela quickly took a few bites and then asked, "Ryan and Kelly didn't bother you later, did they?"
Grace smiled. "You're so busy, yet you still find time to worry about my affairs?"
"Of course, your business is my business. I just don't want to see them so arrogant," Angela answered.
"They can't do anything to me. Patrick forced Ryan to apologize to me, but I ignored him."
"Don't pay attention to him. Ryan is no good," Angela said, taking a few more bites of food.
"I know. Take it slowly."
"Your dad said you should get married next month. What are you planning to do?" Angela asked.
Grace shook her head. "I don't know. If I don't go, will he kidnap me?"
"I'll help you run away, or you could go abroad," Angela suggested.
Grace said, "We'll see when the time comes. There will always be a way."
Grace was worried that, given Patrick's methods, he would definitely use some tactics to threaten her. She was just afraid she wouldn't be able to escape.
After Angela finished eating, she went back to her busy work.
Grace sat there thinking about how to make the Montgomery family give up on this marriage alliance.
The mirror reflected Grace's image, her face made up to look ordinary and plain, so unremarkable that she wouldn't stand out in a crowd.
What exactly did Patrick see in her? Grace couldn't understand.
What did her mother see in Ryan when arranging this marriage back then? Why did it have to be Ryan?
Grace still came home very late every day, feeling a bit exhausted. She planned to relax on the couch for a while before washing up, but she fell into a deep sleep and didn't wake up until the next day.
After washing up, she went to the office and checked her emails first.
As soon as Grace opened her email, she found out that she had won the government bid the previous time. Such good news early in the morning made her particularly happy.
She hadn't expected to win the bid. Her studio had just started and wasn't the strongest, but she had been the most sincere that day.
She had indeed put a lot of effort into it, meticulously thinking everything through.
Although Daniel had made a hint to the government to choose the Lewis Group, they decided to give Iris a chance after weighing their options.
The project wasn't particularly large, requiring only a small amount of fragrance and aromatherapy, and the quality requirements were high so that it wouldn't make much money. But Grace was very pleased.
Madison was furious. She thought that even if the government project weren't hers, it certainly wouldn't go to Grace. Who would have guessed that this time, Grace would gain the upper hand!
But it didn't matter. It was just one project and not profitable. If Grace got it, so be it. Madison had many other projects to collaborate on.
Moreover, Madison was currently focused on the international fragrance competition and had no time to worry about these minor issues.
Things were going smoothly for Grace, but not so much for Angela.
With the fashion show approaching, one of her models suddenly missed a step while going downstairs and sprained her ankle.
They were supposed to go to Oakworth tonight, and Angela had no idea where to find a suitable model on such short notice.
This drove Angela crazy. Even after searching for a suitable model for a long time, she couldn't find one.
While talking to Grace on the phone about this, Angela suddenly had a flash of inspiration. "Grace, why don't you be my model?"
"I can't do it," Grace said. She had never walked a runway or been a model.
She knew how important this fashion show was to Angela. If she messed it up, it would be terrible.
Angela said in a coquettish tone, "I believe in you, Grace. I think you're the most suitable. You look beautiful in my dresses. Don't worry, you won't be recognized. Just do me this favor, okay? Please, Grace, you're my only hope."
Grace, feeling soft-hearted and unable to resist Angela's pleading, reluctantly agreed, "But I can't promise I won't cause trouble. After all, I don't know how to walk the runway."
"It's okay, it's very simple. I'll come to pick you up, and we'll go to the airport!"
"Right now? But I haven't learned anything."Grace was surprised.
"You don't need to learn. Just walk casually."
Although Angela said this, Grace still felt uncertain.
When she finally arrived at the fashion show venue, Grace deeply regretted it. If she had known she would run into Xavier, she would never have agreed to Angela's proposal to be a model!
