Chapter 148 You Are Into Me

Chapter 148 You Are Into Me

"I won't eat anymore!" Stephanie exclaimed angrily, throwing down her fork.

She grabbed her bag, started to throw a tantrum, and walked out.

"Miss. Park," Omari spoke up.

Xavier stood up, casting a deep look at Grace. "Excuse me, this is on me." With that, he exited the table, following the direction Stephanie had taken.

Stephanie had done it on purpose; she was angry, knowing Xavier would follow her. She waited at the door.

Sure enough, it wasn't long before she saw Xavier coming out.

Stephanie smiled as Xavier had indeed come after her.

"Xavier, I'm not mad at you," Stephanie tried to explain. "It's just that those people were too much. Look at Angela and Omari, especially Angela; she's really over the top. People from small towns are just rude and uneducated. Xavier, you mustn't associate with them too much."

"If you look down on people from small towns, then don't talk to me anymore. I'm from Skigeth, too," Xavier countered.

He coldly continued, "I don't think they're uneducated. It's you who will suffer with that attitude in the future."

Stephanie's face turned pale. "I didn't mean it that way. You're different from them, of course."

"What's different?" Xavier thought he wasn't different from anyone else.

In fact, Skigeth was a beautiful city. Although Xavier disliked it, he also had a fondness for it.

Before Stephanie could explain, a car pulled up in front of Xavier. The driver called out, "Mr. Montgomery."

Xavier opened the car door and pushed Stephanie inside, then instructed the driver, "Take Miss. Park to the airport. Call me if there's any issue."

"Yes, Mr. Montgomery," the driver replied.

"Xavier, I don't want to go to the airport. Don't send me back; we haven't even had dinner!" Stephanie shouted from inside the car. But the door was already locked, and she couldn't open it.

She could only watch helplessly as the car started, taking her farther away from Xavier.

Stephanie's visit to Skigeth had lasted less than two hours with Xavier.

'Did my words make him angry? That wasn't my intention; she just didn't like those people. 'Stephanie reflected.

After sending Stephanie away, Xavier called Joseph and then sent the text message.

Xavier:[Come out.]

Grace received the message while she was still dining. She consumed the food Xavier had placed on her plate.

Angela and Omari were still discussing Stephanie. Angela really disliked Stephanie, finding her extremely rude and arrogant, much worse than Jessica.

Omari didn't say much, as it didn't concern him much.

Grace's phone buzzed. She picked it up and saw a message from Xavier, just two words, telling her to come out.

'Hadn't he gone after Stephanie? Why was he asking me to come out?'Grace was confused.

She pretended not to see it, but Xavier's second message came through: [If I can't get you out, do I need to call Ryan?]

Grace fell silent.

"Angela, I suddenly have some work to deal with at the company. I need to go," she said.

"Is it that urgent? Why not finish eating first?" Angela asked.

"Don't mind me. I gotta go."Grace replied.

Omari stood up. "I'll walk you out."

"Thank you, Mr. Turner, but there's no need. I drove here," Grace said as she walked out.

As she stepped outside, she saw the familiar Maybach. The car window was rolled down, and she immediately saw Xavier in the back seat.

"Get in." Xavier's voice brooked no refusal.

Grace opened the back door. "Xavier, didn't you go after Miss. Park?"

"Why should I go after her?"

"Didn't she leave in a huff?" Grace was puzzled.

Xavier replied, "She stormed off, so I should chase her? Then why haven't I seen you come after me when I'm angry?"

Grace was taken aback. This wasn't something that could be compared.

"Are you angry?"Grace asked.

"What do you think?"

Grace replied inwardly, 'How am I supposed to know? I'm not a mind reader.'

So Xavier hadn't left to chase Stephanie but had used it as an excuse to leave and also called Grace out.

"Where's Miss. Park?" Grace asked.

Xavier's gaze fixed on her. "Are you very concerned about Stephanie?"

He wondered, 'Is she jealous?'

However, when Grace lifted her eyes, they were still as clear and beautiful as ever, without a trace of jealousy. "No, I was just asking."

"Where are you taking me?"She looked out the window.

"To sell you," Xavier said.

"Really? Then make sure to split the money with me," Grace chuckled.

Grace sat beside Xavier. Although the back seat of the car was particularly spacious, they were still sitting side by side, their legs touching.

She pondered how Xavier had subtly brushed his leg against hers under the table earlier.

She was wearing shorts today, her fair legs exposed, while Xavier was dressed in a dark suit. The suit encased his long legs, making them look even longer as they sat together.

Who would have thought that the seemingly dispassionate Xavier would brush his leg against hers under the table?

"By the way, I need to clarify three things," Grace remarked.

"What?"

"At the racetrack, did you hear everything I said to Angela? That wasn't what I meant." Grace just wanted to keep her relationship with Xavier a secret from Angela, to prevent any trouble for him.

She didn't mind, but she was concerned that Xavier might not want to be associated with her.

"Then what did you mean?"Xavier asked.

His eyes held a hint of amusement. "If you don't dislike me, does that mean you like me?"

Grace tried to explain it, but realized he had heard everything.

"That's not what I meant. I respect you like an elder. You're someone I admire greatly, and there's absolutely nothing else. I have no feelings for you!"

"Are you explaining this to me on purpose?"

"Sort of."

Grace wanted to move past this topic quickly. She continued, "Secondly, I came to dinner with Angela. I didn't expect Omari to be here. This wasn't me meeting him alone, so don't misunderstand."

Xavier said, "If you don't like me, why are you afraid of me misunderstanding?"

"I just don't want you to overthink it. Omari and I are completely innocent, with nothing inappropriate between us," Grace explained.

"Innocent? Then why is he so attentive to you?" Xavier could see right through Omari.

Grace met his gaze. "Didn't you also get food for me?"

She and Xavier—well, their relationship was far from innocent.

"In your eyes, can we still be considered innocent after sleeping together? Or have you and Omari done the same?"Xavier interrogated.
