Chapter 93 Suddenly Miss Him
Around two or three in the morning, only one light was left on in the Iris Studio, shining from Grace's office.
Everyone else had already gone back, leaving only Grace sitting at her desk, contemplating the solutions she needed to work on.
This was their issue, and they couldn't let the customers foot the bill. So, Grace wrote a notice stating that they would give a small gift to each customer who placed an order. Lily had already selected the gifts and sent them out. It was their gesture to make up for keeping everyone waiting for so long.
It might be necessary to extend the delivery time by another week. If the customer no longer wished to proceed, Iris could provide a full refund, and the small gift would still be sent. If the customer chose to wait, she would offer a full-sized bottle as a bonus, essentially a buy one get one free deal.
This time, what Iris did needed improvement, but she will definitely not disappoint them.
Grace had written the announcement and sent it over to Lily, asking Lily to post it on Twitter first thing tomorrow morning. Grace would take responsibility for the consequences, regardless of how the customers choose.
Since choosing to create a brand, customers had always been the most important. They were willing to trust Iris, and Grace would not let them down.
After Grace had finished writing the announcement, it was very late. She hadn't gone home or rested yet. Instead, she began planning how to establish a factory in the shortest amount of time.
It was definitely too late to buy a machine on her own, so Grace started screening relevant factories to see if anyone was willing to transfer ownership. It would be even better if there were ready-made ones available. Even if they weren't specifically for making perfume, as long as the machines were functional, it would suffice.
Grace felt like maybe fate was on her side, and indeed, she found a place. She immediately contacted the other party and managed to get in touch with them during the day.
As the other party's factory was in Oakworth, Grace was definitely going to go there for an actual inspection. When the conversation with the other party was almost over, Grace immediately bought the nearest plane ticket and rushed to Oakworth.
She just took a short nap on the plane to catch up on sleep. After getting off the plane, she immediately plunged into the busyness.
Talking with the other party about Grace inspecting the machines in the factory and the current staffing arrangements, I found that everything was fine. Only after that did Grace sign the contract with the other party.
She would also personally stay here for two days. Although she was in a hurry, quality must be ensured, leaving no room for mistakes.
After Lily posted the announcement, Grace saw the comments below, as well as many remarks on the official website backend. Most of them were supportive of her and willing to wait.
Grace was deeply moved, so she felt even more determined not to betray this trust.
After she rested for a few hours on the plane that day, she didn't close her eyes much.
After enduring two days, Grace finally succumbed to fatigue and retreated to her hotel. Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, she gazed out at the city aglow with lights even in the wee hours of the morning.
Oakworth was a bustling city, the hub of domestic commerce. Grace visited it for the first time and felt an indescribable affection for it as if it should have been very familiar.
The pace of this city was much faster than Skigeth. Everyone seemed to be busy, never stopping their footsteps.
It took a lot of work to establish oneself in this city. The shopping malls were like battlefields, filled with fierce competition. Though there was no gun smoke, it's full of cutthroat rivalry, with some individuals even more dangerous than even the most cunning of predators.
She didn’t know how Xavier managed to make a name for himself here and build his own business empire.
Thinking of Xavier, the image of him gradually became clear in Grace's mind.
Xavier was cold and aloof. In her impression, it seemed like she had never seen him smile much.
Likewise, he definitely had it tougher than I did back then. Compared to him, Grace felt that whatever she had encountered probably wasn't all that difficult.
Grace had long been aware of the formidable influence of DG Group, with their operations spanning across Skigeth. It was only after coming to Oakworth that Grace realized it was even more terrifying here.
Everywhere was filled with their products and services, covering every aspect of people's lives.
Delving into realms of future technology and even aerospace, DG Group had pioneered numerous systems and inventions. Across various sectors, including real estate, dining, hospitality, apparel, and jewelry, DG Group stands at the helm. This man's creation of such a commercial kingdom was undoubtedly a formidable feat. Perhaps during the early stages of entrepreneurship, Xavier scarcely allowed himself more than a couple of nights of rest each month.
Out of the blue, I suddenly started to miss him a little.
She picked up her phone, her fingers resting on the contacts list. She didn't have Xavier's WhatsApp. The only thing she had was this number.
This number seemed to have inexplicably given Grace some kind of power.
'What Xavier is engaged in at this hour? It is already the wee hours of the morning. Perhaps he has already succumbed to slumber.'
Grace looked at the number in a daze. Her fingers were quicker than her brain, and she pressed the number. Surprisingly, the call went through.
Grace's heart leaped, and she quickly fumbled to hang up.
It should be that it hasn't connected yet. Grace hung up quickly; Xavier may not have seen it at all.
It seemed she really needed to rest; her mind couldn't keep up anymore.
Grace planned to have a good night's sleep, anticipating more things to do tomorrow.
Before she even turned around, her phone started vibrating. When she saw the number, Grace was almost scared enough to throw her phone away.
Grace answered the phone with her voice trembling slightly, "Hello, Xavier."
"Having trouble?" came Xavier's voice over the phone, quiet and deep.
Because the phone was right next to her ear, the sound seemed like it was speaking right next to her ear.
She rarely talked on the phone with Xavier, only a couple of times, but now, hearing his voice, Grace's heart raced, and her face involuntarily flushed with warmth.
She remembered the last time she parted ways with Xavier, he said, "If you encounter something you can't solve, you can give me a call."
The statement was the first time someone had extended such a gesture of support to her.
"No, there isn't any trouble at all!" Grace never even thought about asking for help from Xavier. This time, she called Xavier, which was purely a subconscious action.
She can handle her own affairs.
"Are you still awake at this late hour?" Grace asked, noting the current time, which was two o'clock.
"No," responded Xavier, immersed in his tasks within the confines of his study.
He already had sleep disorders and difficulty falling asleep, and recently, in Skigeth, many tasks have become more troublesome to handle, but the workload has not decreased at all.
Instead of lying in bed unable to sleep, it's better to get up and work.
Just as his phone flickered briefly before dimming, he unlocked it to discover a missed call from Grace, the ringing lasting only a fleeting second.
Iris's affairs were all known to Xavier, and they were also within Xavier's expectations.
If Grace really called him for help, he wouldn't just ignore it.
As for the last time, Grace took him out to dinner.
