Chapter 525 Xavier is Going on a Business Trip

After briefly talking about Edith, Angela asked, "Grace, do you remember Caden?"

"Caden? The guy who used to follow you around wanting to be your leader?"

Angela had some impression of him. It seemed they went to middle school together, and then Caden transferred schools with his family in high school. After that, there was no news of him.

"Caden is no longer chubby; he's grown into a handsome guy. I saw him today and we chatted a lot. I added him on Facebook. Let me show you his profile."

Scott came out of the kitchen with a dish and saw Grace and Angela huddled together, seemingly looking at something.

"Is this Caden?" Grace found it unbelievable.

She remembered that Caden was really chubby in middle school.

"Right? Hasn't he become handsome? If he stood in front of you, would you recognize him?"

Scott realized they were discussing that man.

Grace shook her head, "Definitely wouldn't recognize him."

"Right? He also told me about some other classmates. For example, Ingrid, I heard she had plastic surgery." Angela started chattering again.

Scott cleared his throat, "Dinner's ready."

"Let's go eat first," Grace said.

"Okay, wait a moment." Angela went over, grabbed something, and then quickly came out of the kitchen with a cup, placing it in front of Scott.

"Aren't you having a cold? Drink this quickly. If you need to see a doctor, go see one. Constant coughing is not good."

Angela made Scott a cup of cold medicine.

Grace was surprised, "Scott, you have a cold?"

"No, I don't." Scott wasn't actually sick; he coughed to remind Angela.

Angela, this woman, just couldn't get the hint.

Even though he wasn't sick, Scott still drank the medicine Angela made for him as a precaution.

After lunch, Scott quietly asked Grace, "Do you know Caden too?"

"Yes, he was our classmate. Scott, why are you asking about him?"

"Nothing, just saw him today. I think he's pretty average, not as handsome as Angela said. Her taste is really questionable."

Grace chuckled and teased Scott, "Really? Scott, you care so much. Could it be that you like Angela?"

"How could that be? She's the one who likes me! She always takes advantage of me, it's so annoying!"

Angela overheard, "What? Who likes you? Who takes advantage of you? Don't talk nonsense! We're just in an agreement, and we'll separate when it's over, understand?"

Angela denied it quickly; she didn't have those feelings for Scott.

Scott said with a stern face, "No need to remind me. I'm more eager for the agreement to end than you are. Can you be a bit gentler and not act like an evil witch every day?"

"I'm not gentle, and I am an evil witch. So what? Go find a gentle woman then. Grace, you don't know, today Scott saw a woman and acted like a sheep in a wolf's den. He didn't dare move at all. It was so funny. You should have seen it. Someone being so scared of women."

"You're exaggerating. I wasn't scared of them. They had ulterior motives towards me!"

"You're so narcissistic. Do you really think they fancy you? They just see you dressed nicely and want your money. If I said you were broke, do you think anyone would pay attention to you?"

Scott really couldn't win an argument with Angela. A fierce and unreasonable woman like Angela was definitely not someone anyone would like.

After he divorced Angela, he would find a gentle woman who spoke softly!

"Why do you two start arguing as soon as you meet? You're a couple, be more tolerant of each other," Grace tried to mediate.

"Who's a couple with him? It's all fake!"

Scott also said, "Do you think I want this?"

They started arguing again as they left, and Grace, helpless, decided not to intervene.

After lunch, Angela had her own things to do and left with Scott.

Grace and Xavier stayed at home. In the afternoon, Xavier took Grace for a walk.

The weather was getting warmer, and summer came early in Skigeth.

They walked around the neighborhood, with Grace keeping a low profile by pulling her hat brim down.

It was still a bit chilly in the evening, so Xavier draped his coat over Grace, "Wear more, be careful not to catch a cold."

Grace obediently put on the coat and let Xavier hold her hand as they walked.

"When I was a kid, this place was a park. Later, it was bought, but the developer didn't do anything, and it all became abandoned buildings," Grace said, looking at the area.

She remembered many people fought for their rights back then because the location was good, and the houses were expensive, which ended up hurting a lot of people.

Xavier vaguely remembered passing by this place with his mother, Donna. It wasn't much of a park, just a place where many elderly people exercised.

Rebuilding the houses here would be very costly and might not be profitable, so no one took on the project.

"Did you come here often as a kid?" Xavier asked.

"Yes," Grace nodded. "Mom would bring me here. I bought a house nearby partly because of that."

When she was a child, Elizabeth often brought her here. There was a small playground with a slide, which was long gone now.

"What was it like when you were a kid?" Xavier asked.

Grace tried to recall, but her memory wasn't very clear, only remembering bits and pieces.

What Grace didn't know was that Xavier remembered all of this.

As they were about to head back, Xavier said, "After your prenatal checkup, I might have to go on a business trip for a while."

"Back to Oakworth?"

"No, there's a project abroad with some issues that need my attention."

Grace nodded, "Work is important."

"Why don't you come with me? Relax and unwind abroad."

"Better not. You're going for work, not for fun. Besides, I have work too. There will be plenty of opportunities to travel abroad in the future."

Grace worried that if she went along, Xavier might be too busy taking care of her to focus on work. If she didn't adapt to the weather or the time difference, it could be more troublesome.

"Then wait for me to come back."

"Okay."

She nodded, planning to wait for Xavier in Skigeth.
