Chapter 369 Awesome!
"Don't get on my nerves. You were the one behind me," Scott grumbled at Angela, this rude woman. She was way too close, and now she had the nerve to blame him.
Angela shot back, "I didn't expect you to suddenly back up! Shouldn't you check behind you before reversing? What if it was a person? You could've killed someone!"
Scott just kept quiet.
Angela was impossible to deal with; he couldn't get through to her.
Angela didn't want to waste any more breath on Scott. She pulled out her phone to make a call. Scott eyed her, "What are you doing?"
"Calling the cops, obviously. You're a foreigner; you don't understand Vesperian traffic laws." Angela snapped.
"Seriously? Over a tiny accident? You just want money, right? Fine, I'll pay you." Scott started writing a check.
"Who wants your money? How dare you!" Angela wasn't short on cash. Scott was being way too presumptuous.
"Then what do you want?" Scott asked, exasperated.
"I..." Angela was momentarily speechless. She hadn't wanted anything, other than for him to follow standard procedure – insurance or a private settlement.
Scott had backed into her, so it was his fault.
Now that Scott was offering money, it didn't seem like a big deal.
Angela felt deeply insulted by both Scott's words and actions.
Scott scribbled a bunch of zeros on the check and shoved it into Angela's hand, "This should be enough to buy ten of these junk cars."
Angela's car wasn't a luxury model, but it had still cost her a considerable sum. Scott’s dismissive tone rankled.
Scott said, "Anything else? If not, move your car. Don't block me; I need to reverse. And don't follow me again."
"You think I'm following you?" Angela felt like she was hearing a joke. She already found Scott annoying, and now he was utterly detestable.
"Isn't it obvious? Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence? You must've parked your car here on purpose, right behind mine," Scott huffed.
"What are you dreaming about? Do you think you're some big star? I would follow you? And I don't need your money." With that, Angela tore the check into pieces and threw it in Scott's face.
Seeing Scott's dark and angry face, Angela felt a sense of satisfaction.
Then, Angela took out her own checkbook, wrote a string of numbers, and threw it in Scott's face. "You're not the only one with money. This road wasn't built by you. If you can drive here, so can I. Just because someone is on the same road as you doesn't mean they're following you. If you go out to eat, does everyone in the same restaurant follow you? Ridiculous!"
After giving him a piece of her mind, Angela didn't give Scott a chance to respond. She got into her car, but instead of turning around, she stepped on the gas and drove straight into Scott's car.
Scott's car now had a bigger dent in the back and was pushed some distance. Angela did it on purpose.
Angela figured that since she had already paid, a minor collision wasn't a big deal. When she was driving over, she had no idea that Scott was in the car; she had come to see Grace and was not following him at all.
"You..." Scott was furious at her actions.
Scott could hardly believe that Angela had the audacity to insult him with money.
Scott watched as Angela reversed and drove away from the other side, tightly gripping the check.
Angela parked her car on the other side of the parking lot and then took the elevator upstairs to find Grace.
She knocked on the door, and it quickly opened.
"Angela?" Grace said.
"I'm so pissed off!" Angela walked in with an angry face.
Grace looked at her and quickly poured her a glass of water, "What's up, Angela? What got you so riled up?"
"I just ran into a jerk while parking who backed into me, but I gave him a piece of my mind. Felt pretty good," Angela said, not going into too much detail.
Grace knew Angela's fiery temper; she wouldn't let herself be pushed around.
"Who hit you? Didn't you call the cops?" Grace asked.
Angela replied, "Nah, it was one of the Coleman brothers."
"Scott?" Grace was surprised. Considering the timing, Scott had just dropped her off and probably ran into Angela.
"Maybe," Angela shrugged, not knowing his name.
"You two are really fated," Grace said with a chuckle.
"Fate? More like bad luck. But why is he here? To see you?" Angela was puzzled.
Grace nodded, "They're looking for their aunt and thought I looked like her, so we went to the hospital for a DNA test. Turns out we're not related. Coincidentally, when I was in Country E, I met their grandfather. He seemed to miss his daughter a lot and looked quite pitiful."
"That's normal. You couldn't be related. You grew up in Skigeth," Angela analyzed.
"So, you went to the hospital for tests," Angela continued, her eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Did you check…you know…am I going to be a godmother?"
Grace hesitated. Angela was her best friend, they shared everything.
But she wanted Xavier to be the first to know.
After telling Xavier, she would tell Angela!
"I got checked out," she said evasively. "Just a stomach bug. Something I ate."
"Oh, that's fine. You and Xavier are still young; you have plenty of chances!" Angela patted Grace's shoulder.
Grace was at a loss for words; she could sense that Angela was feeling a deep sense of regret.
Grace asked, "Angela, why did you come to see me?"
Angela said, "I was worried about you. Last time you went to see Patrick, you almost got into trouble. I just came to check on you."
"Angela, you're so sweet!" Grace held her hand. It was great to have such a good friend like Angela!
Oakworth.
The Park Group.
Joseph had just been discharged from the hospital but was already going to the office every day.
Tonight, Joseph had a dinner appointment with Xavier.
Stephanie walked into Joseph's office, "Grandpa, you have a dinner appointment with Xavier tonight, right?"
Joseph nodded, "Yeah, do you want to come?"
Stephanie responded, "No, I have plans tonight. I have a date with a friend, so I won't go. I was just thinking, Grandpa, after dinner, could you give Xavier a ride home?"
"Why?" Joseph found it strange.
Stephanie said, "Well, I just think if you're nice to Xavier, he'll be nice to me."
Joseph said with a mixture of concern, "Stephanie."
"I don't want to hear it. I know what you're going to say. Grandpa, if you really love me and want the best for me, you should let me be with Xavier. I don't want to hear it. I'm leaving, Grandpa!" With that, Stephanie quickly left Joseph's office.
Stephanie went to another office, that of a Park Group shareholder who also wanted Park Group shares and had conspired to poison Joseph.
When she walked in, she completely changed her demeanor. "Is everything ready for tonight?"
The shareholder smiled, "Don't worry. Everything will go as planned. But Stephanie, don't you feel guilty doing this? Joseph has been good to you."
Stephanie said, "Good? If he were really good to me, he would have let me be with Xavier long ago. I can't worry about that now. I just want to be with Xavier. You don't need to ask so many questions. As long as it succeeds, Park Group is yours. I won't compete with you."
