Chapter 96 Are You so Persistent Because You Like Me?

"What resort?" Grace had no idea at all.
When did she agree? She didn’t have any recollection of that.
"You don't have to pretend. I told you last time when we were eating that my dad wants us to go to a vacation resort in the mountains, and you agreed to come along."
Grace thought hard for a moment, wondering if it was true. The last time they were eating, she was actually thinking about Madison and didn't pay attention to what Ryan was saying.
"I'm very busy, no time." She couldn't possibly go to a vacation resort with Ryan. It's just more torturous than working overnight for several days.
'I was willing to go on vacation with Grace. Such a great opportunity, and it landed on Grace, but Grace still didn't agree?' Ryan wondered furiously.
"Do you really think you're the boss just because you opened a small studio? Do you believe that Montgomery Group couldn't shut down your studio in minutes? When that happens, I'll make you come begging to me on your knees!"
"Ryan, are you so persistent because you like me?"
"You're talking nonsense!" Ryan stepped back. "Take a look at yourself. Like you? Ridiculous. Even if all the women in the world perished, I still wouldn't like you!"
He looked at her with disgust in his eyes. Every time he saw Grace, he felt like she was trash.
"Not fond of me but still taking me to the vacation resort, do you have masochistic tendencies?"
"Fine, it's your loss for not coming along. Wait for me!" Ryan left in a huff. Grace, not particularly bothered by his departure, resumed her activities.
Shortly after, her phone rang - it was Patrick calling.
Grace hesitated briefly, then answered, biting her lip. "Mr. Patrick Montgomery."
"Grace, I hope I'm not interrupting you?"
Patrick's mature voice came through the phone. He had spent decades in the mall, encountering all sorts of people and situations. Patrick's commanding presence and composure were completely different from Ryan's.
Upon hearing Patrick's voice, Grace felt a tightness in her heart.
"Not at all," Grace answered.
Ryan has told you about the trip to the vacation resort, right? Since you and Ryan are engaged, it would be best for you two to develop your feelings and get married quickly.
"Mr. Patrick Montgomery, when it comes to marriage, it's important to think it through carefully. I feel like Ryan and I are not quite compatible."
"So, this was the opportunity to nurture your feelings, and this engagement was arranged back when your mother was still around. Grace, Ryan may have been a bit of a jerk, but I have always considered you as part of the Montgomery family. Or do you look down on the Montgomery family?"
Towards the end, Patrick's voice had turned cold, filled with a sense of oppression.
"I didn't mean that."
Grace knew that she couldn't afford to offend the Montgomery family now.
Patrick appeared to be smiling, but in reality, he was a ruthless person.
If Patrick didn't agree to cancel the engagement, there were a thousand ways to force her to marry Ryan.
"I knew it; good girl. Over at the vacation resort, I've already arranged everything. You and Ryan will have a great time." Patrick continued.
"Mr. Patrick Montgomery, I have been quite busy recently and may not be able to make it," Grace persisted.
"I know you recently opened a studio, which was quite challenging. If you ever find yourself overwhelmed, I can have someone from the company help you out. After all, once you and Ryan are married, you'll be a full-time housewife."
In Patrick's few words, there were threats.
Arranging for someone from Montgomery Group to go over and assist Grace meant that they were planning to acquire Grace's studio and brought it into Montgomery Group.
And it was not her turn to choose.
After all, as the most prominent family in Skigeth, the Montgomery family, Patrick Montgomery naturally had the power. Both Ryan and Wendy dared not defy him.
Grace thought about what Xavier said, realizing that she could only make herself untouchable by standing at a certain height where others couldn't touch her.
"I got it, Mr. Patrick Montgomery; I will go."
Grace agreed to come down. Luckily, most of the work that needed to be done was almost finished, and Lily and the others could handle the rest.
This time, I went to relax and pretend that there was no Ryan.
Grace went home and tidied up before driving to the vacation resort.
Consider this an opportunity to relax and unwind as if Ryan doesn't exist.
Grace went home to pack up a few things before driving to the vacation resort.
This vacation resort was located in the suburbs. A developer contracted and developed the entire mountain and the adjacent coastline, offering a wide range of recreational activities.
It was a soft opening, not fully open to the public yet, so those who came early to play were all characters that Skigeth could call by name.
Just when Grace arrived at the foot of the mountain, someone came and greeted her, "Ms. Lewis, right? Please follow me."
The waiter led Grace to her room. "This is your room and Mr. Ryan Montgomery's room."
Grace saw the layout of the room. Apart from rose petals scattered on the bed, there were vases filled with roses everywhere. It was clearly a suite designed for couples.
Is this about her staying in the same room as Ryan Montgomery?
"Are there any other rooms?"
"I'm sorry, Ms. Lewis, that's just how Mr. Patrick Montgomery arranged it."
Grace frowned, thinking that Ryan might not come. Even if he did, he probably wouldn't want to stay with her, so she decided to put her things down first.
Grace didn't go out to play either. Instead, she took out her computer and continued working.
Until evening, Grace took a bath. In the bathroom, she heard a sound coming from outside.
Oh dear, it might be Ryan coming.
Grace quickly put on her clothes, touched up her makeup, checked her reflection in the mirror for any mistakes, and then finally emerged.
Ryan sat on a chair outside with a woman sitting on his lap, feeding him grapes.
"Mr. Ryan Montgomery, eat this."
Ryan opened his mouth and ate the grapes from his female companion's hand. However, his mouth landed on her hand, and he kissed it.
"Mr. Ryan Montgomery, do you think these grapes are sweet, or am I sweet?"
Ryan Montgomery's peripheral vision caught sight of Grace emerging from the bathroom, the woman wrapped up snugly even in her nightwear. He showed no interest in her physique, deeming it quite unremarkable. Aware of Grace's whereabouts, Ryan deliberately uttered, "All sweet."
"Ugh." the woman in his arms extended her petite fist to pound his chest playfully.
And beside him, there was another woman with both hands resting on the glass table, and she was also striking a pose with her hips cocked.
These two young ladies appeared incredibly youthful and beautiful, attired in outfits best described as exceptionally breezy. One donned a tiny strap top and a super short skirt.
The skirt barely contained the hips, with the panties peeking through subtly.
If Ryan so desired, there was no necessity to remove anything in order to engage in certain activities.
Grace quickly averted her gaze, completely ignoring Ryan.
Ryan smirked coldly, thinking, 'Jealous, aren't you? Grace is definitely feeling envious again.'
The woman in Ryan's arms was arrogant. "Mr. Ryan Montgomery, who is this? Wasn't it supposed to be just the three of us? When did your taste become so peculiar?"
