Chapter 272 Grace Has Leverage
"Is this child really Ryan's?" Grace asked nonchalantly.
Kelly's face immediately turned sour. "What do you mean?"
Grace continued sipping her coffee. "Just what it sounds like."
A flash of surprise crossed Kelly's eyes. 'This was absolutely impossible. How could Grace know about this?' she thought.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Kelly refused to admit.
Grace continued, "Last time, I saw you with another man at the hospital for a prenatal checkup."
"I told you not to faint. Actually, I said that intentionally. I wanted you to tell the media about your pregnancy so I could break off my engagement with Ryan."
Kelly was even more shocked. She hadn't expected that all of this was manipulatedby Grace.
"What... what exactly do you want?" Kelly had always thought she was the one scheming, but now it seemed Grace was the truly cunning one.
Initially, she had perceived Grace as simple and naive, but to her surprise, Grace was so smart.
Grace said, "I don't want anything. I don't like Ryan and won't compete with you for him. I just want my mother's ashes back. Kelly, you're smart; you should be able to manage that, right?"
Grace only knew that Kelly would stop at nothing to marry Ryan, and Ryan had brought this upon himself. But Grace hadn't expected Kelly to be so ruthless.
So now, using Kelly to get her mother's ashes back was also part of Grace's plan.
Kelly replied, "I won't help you. I don't understand what you're talking about, and I'm about to marry Ryan."
She thought Grace might just want to sow discord and just testing her. Kelly told herself that she couldn't panic or expose herself now.
Grace said, "If I tell the Montgomery family that the child in your belly isn't Ryan's, do you think Ryan will still marry you? After what you've done to Ryan, do you think Patrick will let you off?"
Seeing Kelly's expression, Grace knew she was right.
It seemed Kelly's child really wasn't Ryan's.
"You know as long as I tell them, what your fate will be. I remember that DNA testing can be done before the baby is born. Unless you can really produce a child of Ryan's now, which doesn't seem likely," Grace said.
"Grace Lewis!" Kelly clenched her fists tightly.
"I'm not a meddlesome person. As long as you help me get what I want, I'll pretend I don't know about this. You can continue to marry Ryan and become the wife of the Montgomery family heir," Grace continued.
"Of course, don't think about trying anything against me. I've already written an email about this. If anything happens to me, the email will be sent directly to Patrick's inbox. Then you won't have a good ending either."
"You will become the wife of the future heir to the Montgomery family, and a life of endless luxury and prosperity awaits you. Kelly, I trust you know how to make the right choice, don't you?"
Kelly's face twisted. She never expected Grace to be so terrifying.
She had really underestimated Grace. She hadn't expected Grace to be so cunning.
However, she couldn't admit to this, nor could she take the risk.
As Grace said, if the Montgomery family found out, Kelly definitely wouldn't have a good ending. Her happy life was still ahead of her; she couldn't afford any mistakes now.
Seeing Kelly tightly pressing her lips together, Grace knew she had achieved her goal.
"One week. I want to see my mother's ashes in one week, or I'll tell the Montgomery family directly." With that, Grace stood up, went to the counter to pay, and then left.
Grace felt very relieved, and even the sunlight outside seemed brighter.
She wasn't concerned about the difficulty Kelly might face in obtaining something from Patrick.
Now the pressure was on Kelly. Kelly clenched her fists.
Despite her meticulousness, Grace still found something to use against her. Now, she had to go and fetched Grace's ashes!
Fortunately, she had the child in her belly as leverage. Maybe she could get Grace's mother's ashes from Patrick.
However, since the ashes were so important to Grace, maybe she could hold onto them. If Grace ever dared to reveal her secret, Grace would never get her mother's ashes!
After leaving the café, Kelly went straight to the Montgomery Group.
The Montgomery Group was the largest company in Skigeth, occupying an entire building.
Just looking at it from the outside, Kelly felt it was incredibly grand. Imagining herself as the future mistress of this company filled her with immense joy and anticipation.
This made her even more determined to marry into the Montgomery family.
Kelly entered with joy. Without an employee card, she couldn't get in and was stopped at the front desk. "Excuse me, miss, who are you here to see?"
The receptionist, recognizing Kelly from before, cast a cautious gaze towards her and made sure not to neglect her in any way.
If another fiancée of Ryan or a company shareholder appeared, she couldn't bear the responsibility.
"My name is Kelly Simmons. I'm the fiancée of your general manager, Ryan, and the daughter-in-law of Patrick." Kelly introduced herself.
The receptionist looked at Kelly, shocked that she had the nerve to say that.
"Mr. Ryan Montgomery's fiancée is Grace Lewis. I've seen her," said the receptionist.
"It's already changed. Don't you know? Now I'm the only fiancée of Mr. Ryan Montgomery. You'd better let me up quickly, or you won't be able to bear the consequences!" Kelly said.
The receptionist looked at Kelly. How could she be Ryan's fiancée? Was she crazy?
But the receptionist still said, "I'm sorry, miss. How about I call and ask?"
"Hurry up!" Kelly urged.
The receptionist called the president's office, and the secretary answered. The receptionist said someone named Kelly Simmons was looking for Patrick. Soon, there was a response.
"Okay, got it."
After hanging up, the receptionist opened the door for Kelly. "Ms. Simmons, this way, please."
Kelly went upstairs. Although it wasn't her first time here, she loved this place.
Previously, Kelly had come to see Ryan, and Ryan would take her upstairs, but it was always in secret.
Now, she was here openly and might become the mistress of the building in the future.
The president's office upstairs was even more luxuriously decorated. Although Skigeth didn't quite match up to Oakworth, it was still considered a major city, where every inch of land was incredibly valuable.
As soon as she got out of the elevator, Patrick's secretary was already waiting.
"Ms. Simmons, Mr. Patrick Montgomery asked you to go directly to his office."
"Lead the way, and then prepare a glass of juice for me. I want it freshly squeezed, a bit sour," Kelly ordered.
