Chapter 259 A Stupid Teammate
Xavier sneered, "So, Mr. Turner believes in 'first come, first served'? By that logic, hasn't Ryan known her longer? Doesn't that mean you're out of luck?"
Omari replied, "Grace and Ryan are done."
"Are they?" Xavier glanced at Grace.
Grace felt Xavier was just causing trouble. "I never really had anything with Ryan."
Xavier felt uneasy. What did Grace mean by that? He was defending her, and now she was distancing herself.
Did she actually like Omari?
"Then who are you involved with?" Xavier asked bluntly.
Grace didn't get why Xavier was being so pushy. She wondered, 'Weren't we over? Why was he so nosy now?'
"Anyway, it's none of your business!" Grace snapped.
"None of my business? Fine!" Xavier stood up, shot a look at Grace and Omari, and walked off quickly.
Yeah, whatever Grace did now was none of his concern.
"Xavier!" Victor hurried after him. "We haven't even finished eating. Aren't you going to eat?"
Victor thought, if it were him, he wouldn't leave.
If he left, wouldn't he just be letting his girl be alone with another guy?
Plus, Omari had just confessed. What if Grace impulsively agreed?
Wouldn't that be pushing Grace into Omari's arms?
How could Xavier be so smart yet so clueless about his own feelings for Grace?
Xavier and Victor left, and Grace lost her appetite too. She stood up. "Sorry, Omari, I might have to go too."
"Grace," Omari called out. "I really mean it! I really like you, and I've liked you for a long time."
"I thought I didn't have a chance when you were with Xavier, but now it seems I might still have a shot, right?"
"Why not give me a chance?" Omari looked at her gently.
Grace said, "Thanks for liking me, but I don't feel the same. Don't waste your time on me. I like someone else."
"I've always seen you as a brother. You're the best brother to Angela and to me. I saw you that way before, and I still do. If my words hurt and you think it's awkward to stay friends after I've turned you down, you don't have to keep in touch. No need to feel embarrassed." Grace said.
Grace was always direct when rejecting someone, leaving no room for doubt.
She liked to be straightforward, just like she was with Xavier.
"Grace." Omari watched her walk away, regretting his timing.
He knew Grace didn't like him. Once he confessed, she'd likely distance herself.
He had been too impulsive in front of Xavier, but he didn't regret letting Grace know.
Grace said she liked someone. Was it Xavier?
Omari didn't want to lose to Xavier, especially since Xavier didn't seem like someone who'd treat Grace well.
Look at Xavier's attitude just now, as if everyone owed him something. Omari disliked Xavier just by looking at him.
He still needed to show Grace Xavier's true colors, so she wouldn't be so foolish as to believe everything Xavier said.
"Xavier, if we just leave like this, aren't we letting Omari win? He's probably laughing at us," Victor said.
"What if Grace agrees to Omari? Then wouldn't that be..."
"Shut up!" Xavier's eyes flashed with restrained anger. "Whatever they do has nothing to do with me!"
Victor stayed silent. It sure didn't look like it had nothing to do with Xavier.
"Omari is so shameless. Why don't you just admit you like Grace? You have the advantage over him," Victor said.
"Who said I like her!" Xavier denied.
Even though he didn't know why he got so mad about Grace, he definitely didn't feel the same way Omari did.
Victor shook his head. Xavier didn't even realize he liked Grace and wouldn't admit he was jealous.
"So what now? Taking you home?" Victor asked.
"Call Isaac out. Let's drink," Xavier said.
"Alright." Victor quickly messaged Isaac, telling him to come out fast.
Their usual spot was a bar owned by Victor.
Isaac hurried over, not knowing what had happened, only to see several empty bottles on the table.
"Wow, Victor, you're drinking a lot today. Have you already had so much? Don't tell me you're getting drunk just as I arrive?" Isaac asked.
Victor said, "I haven't had a sip. The one drinking is over there."
Isaac was surprised. "No way, Xavier drank that much?"
"Yeah," Victor responded.
"What happened? Xavier is usually more rational than us. He usually drinks in moderation," Isaac said. Now Xavier was drinking one glass after another, like he was trying to get himself drunk.
"Someone's trying to steal his girl," Victor whispered.
"What?" Isaac was more confused.
"Even if I told you, you wouldn't understand. Let's just drink with him tonight," Victor said.
Victor raised a glass and clinked it with Xavier's. "It's okay, Xavier. I have another plan, but we need to drink first."
After a while, Victor asked, "Weren't you and Grace doing fine before? What happened all of a sudden?"
Isaac had also figured out a bit. It was related to Grace.
Isaac asked, "Did you do something to make Grace unhappy?"
"No," Xavier answered coldly.
"Then what exactly happened? Tell us so we can help you figure it out," Victor said, always good with relationship stuff.
Xavier pressed his lips tightly, showing no intention of speaking.
Victor continued, "Don't worry. Even if you're like a stupid teammate, we can definitely save you."
Xavier's icy stare silenced Victor, who quickly amended his words, "I mean, we can definitely help you win Grace back."
Xavier finally said, "I don't know."
Isaac asked, "Didn't you take Grace to a party a few days ago? Weren't things fine then?"
Mentioning that party, Xavier's eyes darkened.
"You understand women, right?" Xavier looked at Victor. He had already drunk a lot and wasn't very rational now.
If Xavier were his usual rational self, he would never drink that much.
Victor nodded. "When it comes to understanding women, if I say I'm second, neither of you can claim to be first."
Xavier drank another glass before saying, "At the party, there was a small auction. I bid on two items to give to her."
Xavier briefly explained the situation. Victor slapped his thigh, saying, "Alright, I think I know where the problem is."
