Chapter 317 Sowing Discord

Sterling shot over a text: [Lunched with your girl. Didn't think she'd be so easy to get out.]

Xavier saw the message and just rolled his eyes at Sterling's bait.

Sterling kept going: [You really think she's that loyal? I got a vibe she ain't. She seemed pretty tempted by my offer. Think she might be playing you?]

Xavier frowned at Sterling's follow-up and shot back: [If she really agreed to you, you wouldn't be texting me.]

Sterling scratched his head, wondering if Xavier really trusted Grace that much, thinking she wouldn't stab him in the back.

Sterling said, "Xavier, since when do you trust a chick? Aren't they just for fun? You actually into her?"

Everyone knew that falling in love made you vulnerable.

Xavier had made a ton of enemies over the years. Was he really not worried someone might go after Grace? But if Xavier was genuinely good to Grace, Sterling would find it fishy.

Xavier asked, "Why should I tell you?"

The more Xavier said this, the more Sterling felt something was off.

Maybe Xavier wasn't that into Grace either, just using her to throw people off. If he were Xavier and really liked someone, he'd keep it on the down-low. Plus, with Stephanie around Xavier—if she knew Xavier liked Grace, she'd probably go all out against Grace.

If Xavier liked Grace, he wouldn't put her in the spotlight. So, Sterling figured Xavier was just faking it! Only Grace might be dumb enough to buy it. He knew Xavier too well.

Plus, he called Grace out today, and she might tell Xavier about it. Xavier didn't discuss anything with Grace. Xavier was sharp and cunning; the simpler the matter, the less he'd buy it. In the end, Xavier might think Grace was hiding something. This way, there might be drama between Xavier and Grace.

With Xavier out of Skigeth, Sterling planned to invite Grace out for more meals and give her some gifts, making it hard for others not to overthink. His plan might just mess up the relationship between Xavier and Grace.

Sterling didn't know that even if Grace said nothing, Xavier would trust her completely.

After getting Sterling's message, Xavier texted Grace: [How was lunch?]

Grace replied: [That place was pretty good. The food was bomb, and the steak was on point.]

Xavier: [So, was lunch with Sterling better, or with Omari?]

Grace went quiet. Why did she feel like this question wasn't as simple as it seemed?

[No other options?] Grace replied with a smile. [Like adding Mr. Montgomery?]

Xavier: [Ryan?]

Grace replied: [Doing this on purpose, right?]

She couldn't enjoy a meal with Ryan; it was a miracle she didn't throw up.

Grace: [If Mr. Montgomery doesn't want to dine with me, then I won't eat with you anymore!]

As soon as Grace sent the message, Xavier's call came in.

Xavier said, "If you don't dine with me, who do you want to dine with?"

"So, Mr. Montgomery, after dining with so many women, who did you enjoy the most?" Grace threw Xavier's question back at him.

Xavier said, "I haven't dined with other women."

Grace shot back, "You're lying. Didn't you have a meal with Stephanie? She even brought you a late-night snack yesterday."

Xavier replied, "I tossed it. Didn't eat a bite."

After Stephanie left, the food went straight to the trash. Besides, didn't Grace know what he ate last night? She was the one who ordered it.

After some more chit-chat, Grace hung up.

She had a flight to Oakworth tomorrow night and wasn't sure when she'd be back, so she had to get a lot of stuff done beforehand.

Grace was burning the midnight oil at the office. She knew Xavier was probably working late too, so she wasn't alone in her grind.

The Montgomery Mansion.

Samuel and Julia refused to stay in the hospital or a hotel and insisted on crashing at The Montgomery Mansion.

Patrick was swamped and had no time to deal with Samuel and Julia.

Faced with the shameless duo, Amy was also at her wit's end. The whole mansion was a madhouse.

Ryan couldn't stand it either. With Kelly stubbornly holding her ground, he had no choice but to enter Patrick's study after Patrick got back in the evening.

Kelly watched from the shadows. When Ryan came out of the study, he had a box in his hand. It looked like it was Evelyn's ashes.

Kelly found it odd. She'd been in Patrick's study and searched it. There were no ashes there. Could there be a hidden compartment in the study? Next time she had the chance, she'd search it thoroughly.

Kelly saw Ryan put the ashes away but kept quiet, just kept a close watch. She knew that even if she asked Ryan for the ashes, he wouldn't hand them over.

As long as the ashes were with Ryan, Kelly felt somewhat relieved. However, she couldn't easily hand the ashes over to Grace. At least, she needed to use them to control Grace.

The next day, Kelly hadn't made any moves, but Grace had already decided not to give her a chance.

As a major shareholder of the Montgomery Group, Grace rarely visited the company.

The shares hadn't been transferred out last time, so Grace still held ten percent of the Montgomery Group's shares.

When Grace showed up at the Montgomery Group, Kelly knew immediately.

Now, Kelly was Ryan's wife, and everyone knew it, including the employees at the Montgomery Group. So Kelly took the opportunity to bribe some employees, including the receptionist.

When the receptionist saw Grace at the Montgomery Group, she immediately informed Kelly.

Kelly asked, "What is she doing at the Montgomery Group?"

The receptionist said, "Ms. Lewis didn't say. She just mentioned she was here to see Patrick and has already gone in."

This made Kelly panic. Was Grace really there to see Patrick and spill the beans?

Kelly called Grace, but her calls went unanswered. She quickly took a car to the company.

Grace was led into the Montgomery Group's lobby. She paused and glanced back at the receptionist who was informing Kelly. She smiled slightly.

Entering the elevator, Grace quickly reached Patrick's office. Patrick waved off the person who brought Grace in.

Patrick didn't look pleased with Grace. "What are you doing here?"

Grace asked, "As a shareholder, it's not weird for me to be here, right?"

Mentioning the shares, Patrick's expression changed.

Grace said bluntly, "I'm here today because I have something to discuss with you."
