Chapter 575 Hypnosis
The more Dorian read the news, the more upset he felt. It was like a heavy stone was lodged in his chest, making it hard to breathe.
Just then, there was a knock on the door of his hospital room. "Come in," Dorian called out.
Robert, Jane, and his private doctor entered together. Xavier and Grace had been at the hospital too. Seeing that everything was fine, Xavier said, "Let's go."
Grace nodded and left with Xavier.
When they came in and saw Dorian, Robert asked, "Dorian, why are you crying?"
Dorian reached up and touched his face, realizing that tears had been streaming down his cheeks without him even noticing. Why was he crying? Was it because of Grace?
"Dorian!" Jane rushed over. "Dorian, you fainted earlier. Are you okay? Did you see someone?"
Dorian looked at Jane with a distant, indifferent gaze. "I'm fine."
He put down his phone, and Jane glanced at the screen, seeing text in Vesperian, which she couldn't understand. Robert, who knew a bit of the language, noticed a familiar name and asked, "Dorian, were you searching for Grace?"
Jane's heart tightened. Why was Dorian searching for Grace? Could he be interested in her?
"Yeah," Dorian replied, surprised at how long he'd been searching. From the time Robert and the others flew over to the hospital, it had been at least four hours.
"Why were you searching for Grace, Dorian? Do you have feelings for her?" Jane asked, realizing she sounded anxious and then fell silent.
Robert added, "Grace is a good person. I heard she brought you to the hospital. A few days ago, when Jane was in trouble, it was Grace and Xavier who arranged her rescue. We should thank her properly."
They hadn't even had the chance to thank her for the last time, and now Grace had saved Dorian again.
Dorian nodded. "We should definitely thank Grace. Arrange a time when they're available, and we'll visit to express our gratitude."
He wanted to see Grace again, to understand how this resilient woman had come so far. But Dorian found it strange that he couldn't recall her face. Even now, he couldn't picture her; it was all a blank.
"Of course, I'll arrange it right away!" Robert said enthusiastically.
But Jane interrupted, "Robert!"
"What is it, Jane?"
"This isn't urgent. Let Dorian rest first. Given his status, he can't just visit a commoner. What would people think if this got out?"
Jane continued, "You handle the thanks. Give them whatever money is appropriate. We don't need to go."
"Jane?" Robert was shocked. Jane was usually the most courteous person he knew.
"Grace is my friend and business partner. Meeting her to thank her is the least we can do. She saved your life, Dorian. This isn't something money can repay," Robert argued.
Grace didn't need money, and Xavier was incredibly wealthy. Offering money would seem stingy.
Jane countered, "People from Vesperia are not to be trusted. Grace used you to open up international sales channels and grow her company. This whole situation is suspicious. I arrived in Vesperia and immediately got into trouble, only to be saved by them. Then Dorian gets into trouble and is saved by them too. What if this is all part of their plan?"
"Jane! How can you think that?" Robert was incredulous.
"Are you so taken by Grace's looks that you're not thinking straight?" Jane scolded Robert.
That face had bewitched many men, just like Elizabeth had. Now her daughter was doing the same. Her brother, who never spoke up for any woman, was now defending Grace.
"Jane!"
Robert realized that since coming to Vesperia, Jane had changed. Her thoughts were now filled with fear and malice, especially towards Grace. But he knew Grace well.
"I think Robert is right. Grace is your friend. Didn't she create that dream perfume for you? You were very pleased with it," Dorian said.
Jane had been pleased, but that was before she knew Grace was Elizabeth's daughter. Now she despised Grace and wished her gone.
"Go ahead and arrange it," Dorian said.
Jane wanted to protest but couldn't be too obvious. She watched as Robert went to make the arrangements, clenching her fists and looking at Dorian.
"Dorian, you saw Grace today. Why were you looking up information about her? Did she say something to you? How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine," Dorian replied.
Jane was terrified. "I brought Davi to check on you. He's been taking care of your health."
Dorian didn't resist and let Davi examine him. Davi gave Jane a look, and she understood.
"I'll go check on Robert. Let Davi finish the examination," Jane said, leaving the room.
Now alone with Dorian, Davi looked into his eyes. "Your Majesty Dorian Astor, you are very tired. You need to rest. Close your eyes and feel your dream. Before you is your favorite summer, with white clouds in the sky..."
Davi began to hypnotize Dorian. He was skilled in both medicine and hypnosis, knowing Dorian well enough to induce a deep trance quickly. Sure enough, Dorian's eyes slowly closed, and under Davi's influence, he fell into a deep hypnotic state.
