Chapter 635 Five Years Later

Five Years Later

The sun was shining brightly outside the window. Inside the study, Grace was dressed in casual home clothes but was in the middle of a video conference.

"Not a single cent off the price. If they don't agree, just cancel the deal. We don't need to worry about their opinions."

Grace's voice was cold and commanding.

Everyone on the other end of the video call nodded in agreement. "Understood, Ms. Lewis."

"And this proposal isn't good enough. We need to change the direction on the details. No need to highlight the company's strengths; DG Group doesn't need us to overemphasize. The focus should be on product optimization. Make sure everyone understands the differences between the new and old versions."

"Got it, Ms. Lewis!"

Grace continued to outline the strategic plan. Everyone listened attentively, taking notes and preparing to act on them after the meeting.

Just then, the study door quietly opened, and a small head peeked in.

"Mommy!" A young boy's voice rang out.

The next second, the door swung open completely, and a boy, no older than five, walked in holding a laptop. Despite his young age, his expression was serious, giving him a mature demeanor.

"Mommy, remember that bank that tried to scam us? I just hacked into their internal system and found out they have a lot of debt. I decided to send all this information to the regulatory authorities. They're going to be in big trouble!"

The people on the other end of the video call were silent.

This wasn't something to be announced loudly!

And for someone so young to hack into a bank's internal system, well, he truly was Xavier and Grace's child.

Grace's expression turned stern as she looked at the boy. "Marcus, why are you at home? Why aren't you at kindergarten?"

The boy looked guilty. "Mommy, I'm too old for kindergarten."

"And besides, I'm doing important things at home. Isn't that better than wasting time at kindergarten?" he tried to argue.

Grace glanced at the laptop he handed over and then said, "Alright, there are indeed significant vulnerabilities. Look at this data; they've been scamming a lot of people recently. Report it."

"Okay, Mommy! So, does that mean you won't make me go to kindergarten?" The boy looked at Grace with hopeful eyes.

Grace sighed and patted his head. "Just this once!"

"Okay!"

Grace turned back to the people on the video call. "Does anyone have any other questions? If not, we'll end here for today."

After ending the video call, Grace turned to look at her son, who was intently focused on the computer.

In the blink of an eye, five years had passed. She and Xavier's child, a boy named Marcus Coleman, had been born safely, taking her grandfather's last name.

Now he was five years old, growing up healthy and happy, and his face bore a striking resemblance to Xavier's.

Marcus had a mischievous streak, always getting into trouble and loving to cause chaos.

Despite being only five, he was incredibly skilled in various things, clearly inheriting Xavier's genius mind.

His favorite activity was challenging himself, like hacking into other companies' systems.

What he disliked the most was going to kindergarten.

Grace wanted him to experience life like other children, but Marcus felt that kindergarten was an insult to his intelligence. The other kids were noisy and annoying.

Marcus preferred being alone. Because he was good-looking, many kids wanted to be friends with him, which he found irritating.

He never mentioned it, but another reason he disliked kindergarten was that some kids said he didn't have a dad.

His personality meant some people didn't like him, and they would talk behind his back.

Somehow, word got around that he didn't have a dad, and some kids would tease him about it.

When Marcus couldn't take it anymore, he would fight back, and then those kids would cry, which he found extremely annoying.

Given all this, he preferred not to go to kindergarten.

And when he fought with others, their parents would come, but he only had his mommy. He had never seen his daddy!

Daddy seemed to be a taboo topic at home. Even his uncle and aunt never mentioned him.

Sometimes he would skip school secretly, and sometimes Aunt Angela would cover for him. In any case, he avoided kindergarten whenever possible.

Grace watched her son as he quickly finished his task.

He hit the enter key, sending the anonymous report with solid evidence.

Marcus looked up. "Mommy, I did it."

Grace nodded. "Good job, my son!"

"Marcus, I might have to go on a business trip abroad for the next couple of days. You'll stay at your aunt's house, okay?"

Since taking over DG Group, Grace had hardly had any rest.

In the past few years, DG Group had grown significantly, and Grace's leadership was no longer questioned.

She often traveled for work, leaving others to look after her son.

Recently, it had been five years since Xavier left. Grace had taken her son back to Skigeth and was now living with Marcus at The Bameran Villa.

"Got it, Mommy!"

Five years had passed, and she still had no news of Xavier, but Grace never gave up.

When she gave birth to Marcus, it was premature, and she was malnourished. The baby was weak and frail, and it took a lot of effort to nurse him back to health. Even now, he often got sick.

But seeing her son doing so well now made Grace genuinely happy.

Xavier, are you watching?

You must be doing well too, right?

Grace called Angela to inform her about the business trip.

Angela said, "No problem. I'll come to pick up Marcus tomorrow. Your son is so adorable; he makes people want to have kids!"

Grace chuckled. "If you like him so much, why don't you have one with my cousin?"

"Don't even joke about that. You know we're just..."

"Just an agreement! How many times have you used that excuse? What kind of agreement lasts five years without a divorce?"

Grace thought the whole agreement thing was ridiculous.

At first, she thought they might really get divorced after a year.

But then Angela showed her another agreement, saying they had renewed it.

Grace was stunned. What kind of nonsense was this? Like renewing a work contract?

Angela said she and Scott had renewed for three years. By now, the one-year plus three-year agreement had long expired, but they still hadn't divorced and kept using the agreement as an excuse.
