Chapter 469 Her Eyes Only See Xavier
"Did he rush back?" Grace knew that if Xavier found out she was in trouble, he would definitely rush back immediately.
But it wasn't necessary. She wasn't some fragile doll that would break at a touch, and she wasn't dependent on Xavier.
If Xavier rushed back, it would actually put pressure on Grace.
However, Xavier had called her so many times, he must be worried about her.
Sterling, standing nearby, said coldly, "You're pregnant, and he left you here to face danger. If Xavier can't even protect the person he loves, what's the point of keeping a man like that? You might as well break up with him."
Grace looked up, her eyes filled with surprise. "You know I'm pregnant?"
"The doctor insisted on telling me."
It wasn't like he was prying into other people's privacy.
Grace, however, smiled. "But no one should be by my side all the time. Compared to that, he's already done very well. He has his things to do. His world shouldn't revolve around me."
"And he should go back to work. There are people at the company who need him more than I do. They all rely on that job. I shouldn't take up his time."
Sterling hadn't expected Grace to think this way. He smirked. "Are you stupid?"
"So are you." Grace quickly realized what she had said. "I don't mean you're stupid. I mean, your company also has many people who need you. And both you and Xavier are very capable people. You should go to work instead of wasting time on me."
Grace saw things clearly. If it were another woman, she might have wanted to tell the whole world that Sterling and Xavier were revolving around her.
But Grace was very low-key. Even when she was with Xavier, she never flaunted it.
Grace said, "Mr. Wallace, you should get busy. I'm fine now. I'll be able to leave the hospital soon."
"I don't have much to do in Skigeth. Just consider me a tourist."
"Then I need to look into some things and won't be able to attend to you."
"Go ahead." Sterling waved his hand.
"Alright."
Grace got busy. She wanted to investigate what had happened to the Montgomery family, but Mason called her first.
"Ms. Lewis, Mr. Montgomery asked me to contact you first. He's already on his way back."
"I know. Actually, I'm fine. He doesn't need to come back."
Mason said, "You know Mr. Montgomery. Once he decides something, no one can change his mind except you. And Mr. Montgomery won't be at ease until he sees you with his own eyes."
"Before he got on the plane, he asked me to look into the Montgomery family. There's something you should know: Kelly's child is dead."
"What?" Grace hadn't expected the child to be gone. The last time she saw Ryan and Kelly, they were still at the hospital.
Mason continued, "The child wasn't Ryan's. Now the entire Montgomery family knows, and it's caused a huge uproar. Ryan is divorcing Kelly, but Kelly is pregnant again and is being kept in a hotel by Patrick."
Mason briefly explained the situation. They had people planted in the Montgomery Mansion, which was essentially under Xavier's surveillance.
Grace hadn't expected so much to happen in just a few days.
"Whose child is Kelly carrying? Does the Montgomery family know?"
"Besides Patrick, no one else should know."
Of course, if Patrick didn't know, he wouldn't be keeping Kelly.
So Grace immediately guessed that Patrick might be targeting her, possibly under Kelly's influence.
"I understand. Mason, can you help me get the hospital's surveillance footage? I'll send you the time and location."
"Sure."
"Thank you."
Mason was very efficient. Soon, he sent the surveillance footage to Grace.
Grace watched the footage and saw that Wendy was nearby when she was talking to Kelly. After she and Kelly left, Wendy immediately went to find Ryan. It seemed Wendy had told Ryan everything.
"I could have helped you with this too," Sterling said from the side.
Grace smiled lightly. "I wouldn't want to trouble you."
"You don't mind troubling others, so why not me?"
Grace thought Sterling was the "others." Besides, she was quite familiar with Mason.
But if she said that, Sterling would definitely be unhappy.
Speaking of which, the first time Sterling rushed into the Montgomery Group to save her was also because of Kelly's schemes. And now, it was Kelly again.
Grace got out of bed. "Mr. Wallace, I need to leave the hospital. I'll treat you to a meal next time to repay this favor."
"I'll go with you. You're going to find Kelly, right? What if something happens to you?"
Grace thought for a moment. "You have a point. I'll wait a bit. Xavier should be here soon. I'll go with him."
With Xavier around, he wouldn't worry so much about her.
If she went alone or with Sterling, Xavier would be even more upset.
Sterling was silent.
He shouldn't have said those two sentences. It seemed Grace only had eyes for Xavier.
This made Sterling even more curious. He wanted to see just how deep the relationship between Xavier and Grace was.
Grace didn't stay idle in the hospital. She called Kelly and asked to meet.
Kelly already knew the plan had failed because Xavier's people had captured Patrick.
Kelly knew Grace wouldn't let her go, so she wasn't foolish enough to meet her.
Grace said, "If you don't want to come, then let's meet at the Montgomery Mansion."
Kelly regretted it. "Grace, what do you want? Where do you want to meet? You decide, and I'll meet you."
"It's too late."
Grace hung up the phone and then did some other things. Not long after, someone rushed into the hospital room.
Xavier saw Grace and finally felt relieved.
He immediately hugged Grace, holding her tightly and stroking her hair.
"I'm sorry," he said hoarsely.
Grace blinked. "No need to apologize. I'm fine. The doctor said I'm okay. You didn't need to rush back."
"I wouldn't be at ease if I didn't come." When Xavier found out Grace was almost in trouble, he really panicked.
Although rushing back was indeed troublesome, Xavier didn't regret it.
"I was just about to go to the Montgomery Mansion."
"I'll go with you."
"Okay," Grace agreed.
Then Grace realized that Sterling had quietly left at some point.
