Chapter 78 Has Xavier Discovered Her Secret?
When Grace woke up the next day, she felt a numbness in her brain.
Sitting up, even after a few seconds, she felt a dull pain. She regretted drinking so much the night before.
Once she regained some clarity, she looked around her surroundings.
Oh!
This unfamiliar yet familiar place, wasn't she taken home by the driver last night?
Why... why was she at Xavier's place?
Why did this feel similar to last time?
Last time, she was bullied at a restaurant and then woke up at Xavier's place.
She remembers encountering a couple of gangsters at the bar last night, but now she wakes up at Xavier's place again.
Did she time travel?
She couldn't really remember how she got here. Did she get drunk and give the driver the address of The Bameran Villa?
Grace prepared to get out of bed and then lowered her head, only to discover that she was wearing a short skirt school uniform.
Her pupils widened, filled with shock, and she immediately covered her face.
Yesterday, she went out without any makeup, which means she looked like her original self now!
Grace rushed into the bathroom and saw her reflection in the mirror, her expression filled with frustration.
So, Xavier saw her like this?
It must have been a meeting. She could only have come to the Bameran villa with the owner's knowledge.
But what should she do now? Did Xavier know that she was Grace?
She had kept her secret hidden for so long. Would it be discovered just like that?
Grace was unsure about how to leave. Last time, when she accidentally removed her makeup in the middle of the night, she could still cover it up by turning off the lights. But now, in broad daylight, anyone with eyes could see.
At that moment, the voice of a servant could be heard from outside. "Miss? Miss?"
Grace came out of the bathroom. "I'm here."
The servant breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Grace.
She held a glass of lemon water. "Miss, you're awake. Please drink this lemon water quickly."
The kitchen prepared it under Xavier's instructions, but the maid was not allowed to tell Grace that he had asked for it.
"Lemon water?"
"I noticed you had a bit too much to drink, so I had the kitchen make some lemon water. Otherwise, you would have a terrible hangover all day."
"Wait a minute, how did I end up here?" Grace wanted to know this more than anything else.
"Mr. brought you back." The maid replied.
"Mr.? Xavier?"
The maid nodded.
Grace was completely stunned. It seemed like her secret had been exposed. But how did she end up meeting Xavier last night?
"Where is he?" Grace asked.
"In the gym."
Grace fell silent.
See, the plot was the same as last time.
First, Grace called Angela to ask where she was. Angela said she was at home.
"Angela, do you remember how you got home last night?"
"Of course, the driver took us home, didn't he?"
"Did you see me when you got back?" Grace asked.
Angela hadn't drunk as much as her and said, "Yesterday, you went to the restroom and disappeared. I was looking for you everywhere. Then the bartender said you seemed to have gone home, and a driver came and took me home as well. Were you away from home last night? Is everything alright?"
"No... I just got drunk and don't remember what happened."
Grace didn't tell Angela about being at Xavier's house. After all, she hadn't figured it out herself yet, and if Angela asked more questions, she wouldn't have any answers.
"As long as you're okay, my head still hurts, and nobody is making me a cup of lemon water," Angela sighed.
Grace looked down and saw the glass of lemon water in front of her. "As long as you're safe at home, I'll hang up now."
After hanging up the phone, Grace finally drank the lemon water. After all, Xavier likely prepared it.
When it came to the driver, she picked up her phone and flipped through the call history. There was only one call last night, which was from the driver.
Strange, did she remember if she had called the driver last night?
She couldn't recall.
Because she didn't have any clean clothes, Grace was still wearing her school uniform. Her hair was still up, but this time, it was in a bun instead of a high ponytail.
Instead of going to the gym, Grace waited for Xavier in the lobby.
Not long after, Grace saw Xavier coming over, having finished exercising, showering, and dressing neatly.
For a moment, she didn't know how to explain herself.
Clearly, Grace's face was filled with panic at the moment, and she tightly clenched her hands in nervousness.
"I…."
"Are college students nowadays so open-minded?"
Grace and Xavier spoke at the same time, and she paused when she heard Xavier's voice.
What did Xavier mean by his words? It sounded like he didn't recognize her at all. Could it be that Xavier didn't even know she was Grace now?!
"What?"
Xavier admired Grace's expression, capturing her moments of panic and surprise.
Grace was still wearing yesterday's clothes, her small face devoid of any makeup. It was the second time that Grace stood in front of him in her true appearance.
Her high ponytail from yesterday was casually pinned up, but it carried a sense of messy beauty.
Xavier deliberately said, "Just casually hugging a stranger on the street and going home with him."
Grace didn't know whether Xavier was telling the truth or not. Did she hug Xavier first?
But why did Xavier appear around Skigeth University?
However, this also relieved Grace. Luckily, Xavier didn't know her secret.
"I had too much to drink last night," Grace said. "And we're not complete strangers, Mr. Montgomery. We met at the Turner family's banquet."
Xavier's gaze remained calm. "Oh? So, you planned this?"
"I didn't expect to run into Mr. Montgomery. I don't remember what happened last night."
"Thanks for taking me in, Mr. Montgomery. I'll repay your kindness in the future. I have something to take care of, so I'll leave now."
Grace just wanted to make a quick exit. The less she said, the better.
"Wait."
Just as she turned around, Xavier's voice came from behind.
"You're from Skigeth University, right?"
Grace nodded. "Yes."
She had graduated from Skigeth University. If Xavier wanted to investigate her in the future, he could do so freely because she had never revealed her true identity on campus. Even if he were to investigate, he might not necessarily find anything.
"What's your name?"
Grace hesitated for a moment before blurting out a name. "Mia Clark."
"Mia Clark?" A barely perceptible smile appeared at the corner of Xavier's mouth.
Grace was quite clever in coming up with such a fake name for herself.
"Yes," she nodded.
There was a reason for choosing this name - her mother's surname was Clark.
Seeing that Xavier didn't say anything further, Grace said, "If there's nothing else, I'll go now."
However, it was at this moment that Xavier spoke up, "Since the last encounter at the banquet, my nephew hasn't been able to forget about you. I heard he searched the entire Skigeth to find you. His devotion is truly remarkable."
At the mention of Ryan, Grace had a foreboding feeling.
Sure enough, immediately after, she heard Xavier say the next sentence, which sent a chill down her spine.
