Chapter 468 The Look in the Eyes When You Like Someone Can't Be Hidden

Sterling forced the hospital to give Grace a full-body checkup.

Fortunately, there was nothing serious. Grace had just inhaled some sedatives and might have taken a while to wake up.

Sterling asked, "Shouldn't she take some medicine or something?"

The doctor said, "It's not recommended for pregnant women to take medication. Your girlfriend will wake up soon."

Sterling was stunned. Was Grace pregnant?

Xavier's child?

Grace's phone kept ringing. Sterling picked it up; it was Xavier calling.

Sterling didn't answer. Soon, his phone started ringing.

How annoying, it's Xavier again!

"What do you want?" Sterling answered gruffly.

"How is Grace?" Xavier's tone was anxious, and he was already on his way to the airport.

When he got the call from the bodyguard, Xavier almost couldn't breathe.

He had arranged for someone to protect Grace, but she still ended up in danger. If it weren't for Sterling, Xavier couldn't imagine the consequences.

"She's in the hospital, still not awake."

"I owe you one for this."

"Don't." Sterling refused.

Knowing that a favor from Xavier could get you a lot, and Xavier never owed anyone favors, showed how much he cared about Grace.

Sterling said, "If anyone owes me, it's Grace, not you."

"Don't get any ideas about Grace. She's mine!"

"I never thought she should belong to anyone. She's her person. Xavier, if you can't protect her, you should let someone more capable do it."

Xavier retorted, "Who is more capable? You?"

"Sterling, I know you don't like Grace. You're just trying to get at me. You can have anything you want, whether it's a project or land, don't go after Grace."

Sterling didn't expect Xavier to make such a concession. In the past, he would have agreed immediately.

But now...

Sterling looked at Grace lying on the bed. He wasn't sure what he felt about her.

Maybe it wasn't love yet, but he felt comfortable around her.

Grace's indescribable quality was rare and admirable. Even though she used to be afraid of him, her unyielding nature was indescribable.

"How do you know I don't like Grace?" Sterling countered.

"Xavier, saving Grace has nothing to do with you. It's between me and Grace. I don't want to talk to you about this. I'm hanging up."

With that, Sterling hung up first.

Xavier was silent.

On his way to the airport, Xavier had already ordered someone to capture Patrick.

Daring to harm Grace, Patrick was courting death.

He hadn't acted against the Montgomery family before, not out of old feelings, but to watch them slowly disappear, making Patrick helpless as his family failed.

But now he really wanted to kill Patrick.

However, he would deal with that after seeing Grace.

Knowing Grace was safe, he felt relieved.

But thinking about the troublesome Sterling gave Xavier a headache.

Fortunately, Grace liked him, and Sterling had no chance.

Not long after, Grace woke up.

Seeing Sterling and the surroundings, she rubbed her dizzy head.

"Was I kidnapped, and you saved me?"

"Yeah, no need for thanks. I prefer practical actions, like you repaying me yourself."

Grace was silent.

Sterling was really not modest at all.

"Thank you, Sterling."

"I just said, I hate hearing those insincere words. Forget it, eat this." Sterling handed over the porridge he had made.

"What is this?" Grace took it. "Porridge?"

But she had already had breakfast.

"Yeah." Sterling's face was calm, even looking outside.

"Did you buy it?" Grace was unsure. Who buys just one serving of porridge?

"Yeah, hurry up and eat." Sterling urged, feeling a bit nervous inside.

After all, it was Sterling's first time cooking, though the result wasn't great.

"But I've already had breakfast."

Even though Xavier wasn't there, he had someone from The Bameran Villa deliver breakfast early in the morning.

"Did you have breakfast? If not, you can have it." Grace handed it back.

Sterling's face turned cold: "If you don't want to eat it, just throw it away."

Grace was silent.

Sterling's way of speaking and doing things was so similar to Xavier's. No wonder they were enemies.

Grace thought Sterling had kindly bought it seeing her faint, so she opened it: "I'll have a sip then."

Sterling watched her, his tone unknowingly tense: "How is it?"

"It tastes like porridge. Want to try?" Grace was about to hand the spoon over but then remembered she had eaten from it. She and Sterling weren't that close, and she had Xavier as her boyfriend, so it wasn't appropriate.

Grace pulled back: "You better not try it. But thank you, Sterling, for saving me and for the porridge."

Grace took another sip to show appreciation.

"Alright, if you don't find me annoying, I find you annoying. Don't force yourself if you don't want to eat. Get some rest."

Sterling snatched the porridge from Grace's hand.

As soon as Grace started to speak, he threw it into the nearby trash can, too quick to stop.

"By the way, do you know who tried to kidnap me?" Grace returned to the main topic.

"They said it was Patrick's order."

"Patrick?"

Grace frowned. Although her feud with the Montgomery family wasn't recent, why did Patrick suddenly act?

Grace picked up her phone to check the Montgomery family's recent activities and saw many missed calls from Xavier.

"Why did he call me so many times?"

Grace quickly called Xavier back, but it went straight to voicemail.

Grace panicked. Why was Xavier's phone off? What happened?

Seeing Grace's worried expression, Sterling knew her concern for Xavier was genuine. It was clear Grace liked Xavier, which was why she called him first and worried about him.

At that moment, Sterling felt an unfamiliar emotion, something not good.

"Alright, stop calling. He's probably on a plane and can't answer."
