Chapter 92 Giving Grace a Lesson
In the restaurant, Zach was beaming with joy as he had everything arranged and was waiting for the arrival of the esteemed guest.
Messages on the phone kept coming in one after another, which Zach had hesitated to open before as they were all reminders to settle overdue accounts. However, the situation had taken a different turn now.
Last night, Mr. Gunter instructed someone to transfer a staggering sum of thirty million dollars.
He was now able to release the final payments for various projects, and all outstanding salaries had been settled.
However, this was just enough to keep the company running, not enough to completely get through the tough times. So, Zach still had to think of ways to earn some money from Mr. Gunter.
Just then, the door to the private room swung open, and the waiter brought in Daniel. His mood seemed pretty good.
Zach immediately greeted him, "Mr. Gunter!"
"Thank you, Mr. Gunter, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to have dinner with me," Zach said, bending over.
"Zach, you have always been the son-in-law I have had high hopes for. Otherwise, I wouldn't have married Taylor to you back then."
Although the good time was interrupted yesterday, Daniel had already played everything he should have played.
"For Mr. Gunter to grant me his approval stands as the paramount honor of my existence. I raise this glass to Mr. Gunter, offering my gratitude for your intervention that rescued both myself and my company."
"Oh, no need for such formality; we are indeed kin. "My granddaughter, too, had been absent for quite some time before last night, and we engaged in a nostalgic conversation. It's unfortunate concerning your elder daughter; she appears to lack discernment, disrupting a pleasant moment shared between me and my sweet granddaughter."
Zach naturally understood. "I know, Mr. Gunter, I apologize on behalf of my irresponsible daughter!"
Daniel smirked. "No need to apologize. I didn't take it to heart. But when young people have such a temper, it's good to put them in their place. I've already taught her a lesson for you."
At his command, those factories naturally refrained from shipping to Grace, considering it a lesson imparted to her.
"I understand, Mr. Gunter. You may discipline as you please, but Mr. Gunter, isn't this sum of tens of millions of dollars a tad insufficient? You are aware of the scale of my company. It's not just about this sum we discussed before, is it?" Zach delicately interjected.
Daniel played with the wine glass in his hand, his drooping face looking particularly sleazy.
"I have an abundance of wealth; I've been in Skigeth for a while now and haven't really had the chance to explore. I've heard that a new resort is about to open, generating quite a buzz. If my granddaughter is willingly inclined to accompany me to this resort for a vacation, then all shall be well."
Zach hesitated for a moment. "Mr. Gunter, that's not what you said before."
'Mr. Gunter just asked Madison to accompany him once before, but now, why does he want Madison to go on vacation with him?
'And willingly, how could Madison agree to that?'
Daniel also lost his appetite. "Since you're not willing, I won't force it. After all, I have many goddaughters, and there's more than just you as my son-in-law. There are plenty anticipating their inheritance of my wealth."
Daniel stood up, ready to leave, without stopping his steps, no matter how loudly Zach shouted from behind.
Zach gritted his teeth. Given Madison's past experiences, one, two, or three more occurrences hold little significance.
Before, Zach was still reluctant, but now, he had long lost his humanity.
Having seen so much money, Zach realized that making money could be so easy.
Selling his daughter once could earn me tens of millions, which is more than his company could earn in a year.
Zach immediately picked up his phone, transferred seven hundred thousand dollars to Yaeli, and then gave her a call.
"This matter must not be disclosed to anyone, and you must not mention that we have been in contact."
"I got it, thank you," Yaeli said happily, never before having set eyes upon such a substantial sum of money.
After masquerading as a wealthy individual at school for such an extended period, this marks the first occasion on which she truly embraces the sensation of embodying affluence.
"You did well this time. If Madison asks you, tell her that yesterday in that room, Grace threatened you to take Madison there."
Yaeli didn't know what had happened in that room. It was just that Zach had found her last time and told her to find an opportunity to get Madison to that room. Once the deed was done, he would give her a large sum of money.
Curious as she was, Yaeli agreed, knowing that even though it was Madison's father, she wouldn't be harmed.
"Mr. Lewis, why did you say it was Grace?" She knew that Grace was her current boss.
Yaeli had so much money. How could she still be working?
"Just do as I say. You must make Madison believe this thing. Once it's done, I will give you the money."
Yaeli readily agreed to the offer of money, saying, "No problem at all."
With everything arranged, Zach finally smiled. It seemed that raising Madison was not in vain, unlike Grace, who was quite a schemer!
Grace attempted to contact the factory, yet they failed to answer her calls. And even if they did respond, their replies were filled with excuses and avoidance.
Inevitably, she had to venture to the factory herself. However, the officials in charge hesitated to make an appearance, citing various excuses, such as being on a business trip. They adamantly denied Grace entry, emphasizing that access to the premises was strictly prohibited without authorization. Consequently, they effectively barred her from entry.
Grace asked about the situation, and they were also vague, pushing things off whenever possible.
"Our agreed-upon delivery deadline is clearly stated in the contract," Grace asserted, brandishing the document.
"Yeah, but we can't do anything about it. Why don't you go through the legal process and sue us, okay?"
The penalty for breach of contract wasn't much anyway, and going to court would be time-consuming and costly. Dragging it out without compensation was the only option, and Grace couldn't do anything about it.
These people were just troublemakers. Offending someone like Grace was nothing. If they offended Mr. Gunter, their factory might have closed down directly.
Grace went to several factories, and they all gave her the same response.
Having bumped into the wall a few times, the assistant, Lily, was getting anxious. "Boss, what should we do now?"
"There are already many people urging orders in the background now, and we have told them that the goods will be shipped in the next couple of days."
If the goods cannot be delivered, Iris's reputation will be affected as well.
"There will be a way," Grace said with a serious expression.
Grace contacted other contract factories again, and without exception, all of them rejected Grace's request.
Even at the mention of the name of Grace, the other party hung up the phone immediately.
It's past the end of the workday now. Grace asked her assistant to leave first, but she decided to stay back to figure things out.
When she was looking for sales channels, she also remembered that no one wanted to distribute her perfume because of Mr. Reed.
Later, she created her own brand and inaugurated a storefront.
But back then, it was because there was still time. Setting up a factory from scratch involves a complex process encompassing site selection, procurement of machinery, and recruitment of skilled labor, among other intricate components that cannot be hastily arranged.
Even if she didn’t eat or sleep, it's still impossible for her to deliver on time.
Grace knew these were all Daniel's handwriting, and she also knew these were the consequences and prices she should pay, but she didn't regret what she did yesterday.
Even if it happened again, she would still choose to rush upstairs.
