Chapter 345 Xavier Actually Wants to Get Married
Xavier took Grace out of the bar and back to the car. He carefully checked her over, first looking at her wrists to make sure there were no marks from being tied up, then checking her waist for any bruises. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.
However, Grace looked at him and said with amusement, "Xavier, are you checking to make sure I'm okay, or is this just an excuse to get handsy?"
Xavier, slightly embarrassed, replied with a frown, "Sorry, I didn't expect such a crowd tonight."
Originally, he had only called a few friends, including Colin as a result of this situation.
"What's there to apologize for? It's not your fault, and I think it's actually a good thing. Now everyone knows I'm not someone they can easily mess with. Stephanie will think twice before pulling another stunt."
"But Mr. Montgomery, this is all your fault!" Grace deliberately extended her finger, hooking Xavier's chin, mimicking a teasing gesture.
Xavier let Grace hook him. "Ms. Lewis, don't you have a bunch of admirers around you, too? We're even."
"How is that even? I don't have any admirers, and even if I did, you could easily handle them. Those people are like mice seeing a cat when they see you. Stephanie is different; she has a background and is much more formidable than me."
Xavier chuckled lightly, "You have a background, too."
"What background?"
"Me. Remember, if anyone ever gives you trouble, just drop my name. Whatever you need, I’ve got you covered."
As long as Xavier had it, he could give it to Grace. He wanted to buy her many things, but he was afraid she wouldn't accept them.
"Then I want you, not your money!"
Xavier leaned in to kiss her. "I've always been yours."
In the following period, Grace was extremely busy and often came home late.
Xavier was also busy with his own affairs.
Joseph's health had improved significantly, and he could be discharged from the hospital.
On the day of his discharge, Xavier went to see him.
Last time, Stephanie had complained, exaggerating the situation. Actually, Joseph was not very happy.
"Xavier, has our family been a burden to you?" Joseph said.
"Mr. Park, please don't say that," Xavier replied.
"I’ve been told you have a girlfriend now," Joseph continued, his tone cautious, as Stephanie stood by with a sullen look.
Xavier said, "Yeah, my girlfriend."
When Xavier admitted to having a girlfriend, Stephanie's face turned very sour as Joseph's expression darkened, though he quickly recovered.
"Stephanie has added that last time at the hospital, one of your people slapped her, and there was some conflict at the last gathering." Joseph was clearly seeking an explanation.
Stephanie was his most cherished granddaughter, and if she was bullied, he wouldn't let it go easily.
Even if Grace was Xavier's girlfriend, Xavier still had to show him respect.
Xavier said, "That's true."
Hearing Xavier admit it, Joseph was unhappy. "Xavier, I only have one granddaughter, and I've always spoiled her. I've never hit her."
"Mr. Park, I respect your feelings for your granddaughter, but my girlfriend deserves the same respect. She’s not someone who can be pushed around. I suggest we review the surveillance footage together; it will clarify things."
Joseph knew Stephanie's temperament and that she likely started the trouble with Grace. If there was surveillance evidence, he couldn't side with Stephanie.
Downstairs, in the car, Joseph and Xavier were in the same vehicle, but Stephanie was not.
Joseph looked at Xavier. "Xavier, we've really relied on you lately. Without you, the company would have been in chaos."
Xavier nodded. "It's my duty."
"Remember what I have told you last time? Stephanie has a bad temper, and you should be more tolerant. She's been spoiled by me as my only family. She likes you a lot, and you should know that. With you suddenly having a girlfriend, she's bound to be emotional. If she did anything, don't take it seriously."
With this, Xavier disagreed.
"I can let it go, but my girlfriend can't. I can ignore it, but my girlfriend and Stephanie have no relationship. I understand your love for Stephanie, but my girlfriend is also important to me. She shouldn't be bullied because of me or anyone else." Xavier said.
"Mr. Park, since you care so much for Stephanie, I hope you can teach her better. I'll consider her previous actions as childish, but if she targets my girlfriend again, I can't guarantee what will happen." Xavier added.
Xavier had an imposing presence, and even someone as experienced as Joseph could see that Xavier was angry.
'What kind of woman can make Xavier so protective?'
'Xavier has never been one to indulge in romantic affairs. For him to acknowledge Grace as his girlfriend, can he really be in love with her?' Joseph mused.
"Our families have been friends for a long time. Why don't you bring your girlfriend over for a meal sometime?" Joseph's tone softened considerably.
Xavier said, "She's busy with her startup and might be quite occupied. When we have our wedding, I'll definitely invite you, Mr. Park."
A flash of surprise crossed Joseph's eyes. 'Is Xavier serious?'
Joseph had asked Xavier before if he had considered settling down, given his age.
Xavier had said he had no such plans and might never marry.
But now, there was a woman who made Xavier want to get married. Who was she?
With the conversation at this point, Joseph couldn't say much more. Stephanie's chances of winning Xavier over were slim.
Given his relationship with Xavier, Xavier was even unwilling to take extra care of Stephanie, let alone marry her.
In Skigeth, Kelly's belly was growing day by day. She stayed home all the time, doing nothing, with a bunch of people waiting for her.
Her child was already five months along, but she still had no status in the Montgomery Family. Patrick avoided her, Ryan disliked her, and they slept in separate rooms. Amy was always against her as well as Wendy.
With this, Kelly realized she hadn't seen her in a long time. Where had Wendy gone?
Kelly asked the servants and found out they hadn't seen Wendy in a while, either. That night, she unexpectedly saw Wendy.
Wendy looked the same as before, but she was wearing sunglasses at night.
Previously, Wendy would always curse at Kelly when she saw her. This time, she went straight upstairs.
This was very strange, completely unlike Wendy's usual behavior.
"Wendy," Kelly called from behind, but Wendy kept walking as if she hadn't heard.
Kelly followed her to her room. "Wendy, what's the matter with you? If something happened, you can tell me."
She still wanted to get along with Wendy, as Wendy was Ryan's sister.
"Get out. I have nothing to say to you," Wendy's tone was as bad as ever.
Kelly thought it was odd for Wendy to wear sunglasses at night. WithWendy's distraction, Kelly snatched the sunglasses off her nose.
Seeing Wendy's eyes, Kelly was shocked. "Wendy, you..."
