Chapter 640 Bumping into His Arms

Dorian's birthday came around fast.

As the top leader in Aetheria, Dorian's birthday was a big deal. The guest list was small but packed with some of the most famous people from all over the world.

Grace and Marcus showed up at the party. Marcus was dressed in a tiny suit, his hair slicked back with gel, looking like a little grown-up. His face, which looked a lot like Xavier's, had a mix of cuteness and a bit of coolness, making him especially adorable.

Grace wore an evening gown, her hair done up elegantly. Even though she was twenty-nine, she still looked youthful, like a college student, drawing attention wherever she went.

The birthday bash was held at the palace. Grace walked over to give Dorian her gift but was stopped by Robert.

"Grace," Robert called out as he approached her.

Grace was surprised to see Robert there. Given the messy situation between Dorian and Jane, which was publicly framed as an amicable divorce but was quite ugly behind closed doors, she hadn't expected him to attend.

Jane had acted like a madwoman, begging Dorian not to divorce her. Robert had even confronted Dorian physically, though Dorian never disclosed the real reason for the divorce to Robert. For the past few years, the York family and Dorian had no contact, so seeing Robert here was unexpected for Grace.

"Robert, I didn't think I'd see you here."

"Hey there, little man!" Robert greeted Marcus, who looked every bit the charming child of Grace and Xavier. He was sure Marcus would break many hearts when he grew up.

"Hey, I'm not a little man. I'm already an adult," Marcus shot back, not liking being called small.

"Grace, it's rare to see you in Aetheria. How about we grab a drink sometime?"

"Sure, what do you want to drink? I'm up for anything!" Grace agreed enthusiastically.

As they chatted, the party got underway. Grace, who used to feel out of place at such events, now navigated them with ease. Her name was well-known, and many political figures wanted to connect with her. After mingling, Grace looked around but didn't see Dorian.

Considering Dorian was the guest of honor, he should have been present. Feeling curious, Grace let Marcus play on his own and went to find Dorian.

Dorian was in a nearby room, facing another tall man. Killer had altered his appearance, a tactic he used for missions to avoid unnecessary trouble from enemies. Though he wasn't afraid of threats, they could be bothersome.

"This is Mr. Ramirez's message. I didn't mean to interrupt your birthday, but the other kings have agreed. King Dorian, please think it over carefully," Killer's voice was cold and imposing.

Dorian, who had faced countless challenges, felt the intense presence of Killer. He hadn't expected Hugh to send Killer, whose ambitions were clearly growing. Agreeing to Hugh's plan would mean his dark forces infiltrating Aetheria soon.

"My answer's still no. I won't agree to Hugh's plan in Aetheria," Dorian replied firmly.

"Are you sure you won't reconsider?"

"Nope. My answer's always gonna be the same. I don't agree."

"Alright, I'll let Hugh know."

Killer turned to leave. Grace, having heard Dorian might be there, came to check. As she opened the door, it was pulled open from the inside, and she stumbled into someone's arms.

The person inside instinctively held her waist. Grace's body trembled; the embrace felt familiar, making her eyes well up. She looked up, expecting to see Xavier, but found a cold, unfamiliar face instead.

Killer was also momentarily stunned. He recognized Grace from the airport incident where she was threatened. Though they had only briefly seen each other, he felt a strange familiarity.

"Grace," Dorian quickly composed himself and approached, worried Killer might harm Grace. But Killer released her and left swiftly.

Grace watched his retreating figure, noting his height and build, which reminded her of Xavier. The familiar feeling of his embrace lingered, and she couldn't take her eyes off him until Dorian called her several times.

"Grace, were you looking for me?" Dorian asked.

"Yeah, I heard you were here. Lots of people outside are looking for you, Mr. Astor. Who was that guy?" Grace inquired.

"Nothing important. I don't really know him. Since people are looking for me, I'll head out."

He didn't know him? The atmosphere had seemed tense, and their conversation appeared unpleasant. If Dorian didn't know him, why were they talking?

Grace felt Dorian was hiding something but knew he wouldn't tell her. Who was that man? He felt so familiar, except for his face.

After leaving the room, Grace searched the party but couldn't find the man. Maybe he had left.

"Mommy," Marcus approached Grace. "What are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for you," Grace teased.

"You're lying. I've been around you several times, and you didn't notice. Tell me, Mommy, which man were you looking at?"

"There's no other man. Stop making things up."

"You've been single for so many years. It's time you found someone!" Marcus said, sounding like an adult.

"Where do you learn these things? I should send you to preschool to cleanse your mind!"

Mentioning preschool, Marcus reacted strongly, refusing adamantly, "No, I don't want to go! I don't want to go to preschool!"
