Chapter 310 Trapping Grace for a Lifetime

"Yo, Mr. Montgomery, we got some fresh dirt. Evelyn was at the scene when Mrs. Montgomery got whacked."

The guy on the other end of the line spilled the beans fast. They'd been snooping around and found some solid proof that Evelyn hit the beach that same day.

Last time, they figured out the two had a blowout, and Evelyn even threatened to off Donna.

This time, the evidence was rock solid, showing Evelyn was right there when it all went down.

Digging into what happened back then was a nightmare, but these bits and pieces were starting to make sense.

Even if Evelyn didn't pull the trigger, she sure as hell wasn't innocent.

Donna had a rough life, and in the end, she got found floating by the beach, her once pretty face all puffed up like a balloon.

Hearing this, Xavier's heart sank, and he clenched his fists tight.

Donna was always his soft spot. But why did it have to be Evelyn? And why was Grace her kid?

At first, Xavier was just looking for some fun, but he got sucked into the whole mess.

If he could rewind time, if he had stayed away from Grace from the start, would he be chill now?

Xavier couldn't bear to look at Grace inside so he stepped out, lit a cigarette, lit it up, and took a deep drag.

The nicotine hit him hard, spreading from his tongue to his brain. He rarely smoked, only when he was seriously stressed.

The cigarette burned out fast, but Xavier was still lost in his thoughts.

The evidence was thin, but it was enough to point fingers at Evelyn.

During his time with Grace, he almost forgot about all that drama.

But now, this new info hit him like a ton of bricks. Was Donna trying to tell him something? Did he screw up by choosing Grace?

Just then, there was a knock on the glass door to the balcony. It was Grace.

Grace pointed to the door, signaling she wanted to come out.

Xavier opened the door, and Grace walked over with a coat in her hand.

Grace said, "You said you were making a call. Why are you out here in the wind? Something up?"

Xavier's eyes narrowed, and his face looked grim.

He looked away. "Nothing."

The news about Donna messed with his head, but Xavier wouldn't take it out on Grace. The old generation's mess had nothing to do with her.

"Then why are you out here smoking like a chimney?" Grace noticed the cigarette butts.

She didn't know what was bugging Xavier, but she knew he had something on his mind.

She knew Xavier's style; he kept everything bottled up and never talked about it.

"Nothing." Xavier's voice was raspy, probably from too much smoking.

Grace said, "If you say it's nothing, then it's nothing. Put on your coat; we got a flight tomorrow. Get some rest." She draped the coat over Xavier.

Xavier looked at her, his eyes filled with emotions Grace couldn't read. It was like he was holding something back.

"What's wrong, Mr. Montgomery?" Grace stood in front of him, looking at him.

The night was dark, but Grace seemed to be glowing.

Xavier shoved Grace against the railing, her back hitting it with a thud. It didn't hurt, but his sudden move made her gasp.

Before she could even react, he kissed her hard.

Xavier's kiss was rough, like he was trying to drown his sorrows in it. Grace could feel his turmoil, his distress.

Then, without a word, Xavier scooped Grace up and carried her to the bedroom.

Xavier thought, 'Grace is Evelyn's daughter. This is what they owe me. Should I keep her by my side, trap her forever, make her suffer with me as payback for Evelyn's sins?'

The next morning, Grace woke up to find it was almost ten o'clock.

The room was empty; Xavier had an early flight and was already gone. But the room still held the echoes of their night together.

Grace got up and headed to the walk-in closet to find some clothes.

Every time Xavier brought her back, Grace looked the same as before, but the next day, she always felt different. Even though Kieran didn't know the full story, he could guess something was up.

Kieran had breakfast ready. "Ms. Lewis, have some breakfast before you go."

Grace shook her head. "No, Kieran, I have things to do at the company. If you haven't eaten, don't waste it."

She quickly left The Bameran Villa and headed to the company.

The studio was still small, and Grace had big plans to expand it.

She'd had this idea before, but now she wanted to take the company to Oakworth.

Xavier had asked if she was willing to go to Oakworth with him, and Grace was on board, so she needed to get things rolling.

Iris's store could also open there first. They already had factories and employees, so it would be easier to grow.

Grace planned to visit Oakworth for a few days to check things out and, of course, see Xavier.

With a clear plan for the company's future, Grace felt more motivated.

In truth, Grace's focus had shifted from the company. With the business booming, she was now diving into financial investments. She was stable enough to take risks on a few small companies she thought had potential.

As the workday was winding down, Kelly showed up at Grace's studio.

"Ms. Simmons, or should I say Mrs. Montgomery, it's only day two of your marriage, and you have time to come here?" Grace teased, easily guessing Kelly's reason for visiting.

"Or did you already get what I wanted?" Grace asked.

"Grace, what the hell are you doing bringing my parents here? I didn't sleep at all last night!" Kelly had dark circles under her eyes.

"On your wedding night, after all these years, your dream finally came true. Isn't it normal to not sleep?" Grace smirked.

"Ugh, screw you!" Kelly snapped.

It wasn't the wedding night that kept her up. She'd sent Samuel and Julia to a hotel, thinking they'd be happy with a nicer place. But they showed up at The Montgomery Mansion's gate in the middle of the night, causing a scene.

Even calling the cops didn't help. If they weren't let in, they threatened to camp out and live stream the whole thing, showing off the mansion to the world.

This was clearly Grace's doing, and the Montgomerys had no choice but to let them in.

Once inside, Samuel and Julia caused quite a ruckus.
