Chapter 276 Kissed Her Again
When Joseph listened to Stephanie's words, his eyes turned red.
As Stephanie's sole grandfather, Joseph naturally wished for her well-being and happiness.
However, now, Stephanie actually said she wasn't happy living with him and wanted to find her parents.
He was doing it for Stephanie's good. Having seen so many people, he knew that Xavier didn't like Stephanie..
If Stephanie persisted in pestering Xavier, it would only make him resent her even more.
Joseph was most worried about Stephanie. With her temper, she was bound to suffer a lot in the future.
To Joseph's dismay, Stephanie resorted to extreme measures like going on a hunger strike and even threatening her own life in order to achieve her goal of going to Skigeth.
However, to prevent Stephanie from regretting it in the future, Joseph had to harden his heart and not let Stephanie go to Skigeth.
"I don't care if you eat or not, you just stay at home obediently, and you're not allowed to go anywhere!" With that, Joseph slowly went upstairs with his cane.
Stephanie said, "Grandpa, please let me go. I'm begging you, Grandpa!"
However, Joseph didn't stop at all.
Stephanie angrily pounded the sofa. After Xavier went to Skigeth, he hardly returned to Oakworth.
If Xavier stayed in Skigeth any longer, he might really be tempted by Grace.
Stephanie couldn't leave Oakworth now, but what could she do to get Xavier back from Skigeth?
Xavier wasn't even answering her phone; the only person who might be able to reach him was his grandfather.
But her grandpa didn't call Xavier. What should she do?
Stephanie thought for a moment and suddenly had a plan. What if her grandpa got sick, seriously enough to be hospitalized? Wouldn't Xavier come back then?
In the ward, there were enough blankets, and the sofa over there was quite wide.
Grace said she would sleep on the sofa, and Xavier nodded, letting her take the blanket to the sofa.
Grace kept urging Xavier to sleep, yet Xavier still had endless work to do.
Grace originally leaned on the sofa, insisting Xavier had to sleep before eleven.
However, before she could remind Xavier to sleep, Grace herself fell asleep firstleaning on the sofa.
Xavier glanced at the time, it was half-past eleven, and Grace was already sound asleep.
Despite the unfinished work, Xavier hadput down his laptop.
Xavier got up from the bed and walked towards Grace.
He bent down, his hands passing under Grace's armpits and knees, gently lifting her up.
When he placed her on the bed, Grace's eyelashes fluttered, and in her drowsiness, she half-opened her eyes, seeing Xavier's face up close.
"Xavier..." she called his name, as if instinctively knowing who he was.
"Sleep," Xavier whispered.
His voice gave her a sense of peace, leaving Grace to quickly close her eyes and fall asleep.
Then, Xavier also got in the bed and turned off the light. The room was pitch-dark, with only Grace's almost inaudible breathing.
Grace had been busy with both the hospital and work these past two days and was indeed very tired.
When Grace woke up the next morning, she found herself on the bed but couldn't recall when or how she had ended up there.
And beside her, Xavier was holding a tablet, reading financial news.
"I... wasn't I sleeping on the sofa?" Grace sat up.
Xavier's expression was natural, lying through his teeth, "I don't know, maybe you sleepwalked last night."
"Impossible, I've never sleepwalked." Grace leaned closer, looking at Xavier. "Could it be that you carried me up?" she asked.
Xavier said, "You're overthinking it."
"Really not?" Grace didn't believe it at all!
However, Xavier turned to look at her with unreadable eyes.
Xavier asked, "Do you really hope it was me who carried you up?"
Grace turned her face away. "No."
Xavier said lightly, "Maybe you smelled my scent and got in the bed yourself."
Grace said, "I'm not a dog. You didn't even shower last night. Even if I were a dog, I might have disliked you."
Xavier's eyes darkened. "If I were a dog, you would dislike me?"
"I was just joking, I didn't mean it that way," Grace said as she got up from the bed.
But before Grace could leave, Xavier pulled her back, and with a flip, their position became ambiguous.
"What scent do I have?" Xavier pressed down on Grace and they were very close, their breaths mingling.
"I... I was really just joking." Grace looked like a startled deer, her eyes wide open.
She had washed her face before resting last night. Despite being makeup-free, Grace looked beautiful and charming.
At this moment, Grace was still chattering, constantly flattering Xavier.
Grace said, "In fact, there's no scent, Mr. Montgomery. No matter when or where, you always smell nice."
"Really, what kind of scent?" Xavier didn't intend to let Grace off easily.
Grace's brain froze. For a moment, she couldn't describe it at all.
Xavier hadn't exercised or sweated in the room, so naturally, he didn't have any sweat smell.
And the cool scent on him actually made people feel very fresh and comfortable.
"Can't describe it?" Xavier asked again.
Grace nodded."I really was just saying it casually, I..."
Before Grace could finish her sentence, Xavier leaned down to kiss her lips.
The refreshing mint flavor gradually filled Grace's mouth. Clearly, Xavier had brushed his teeth, and his lips and teeth were cool.
Xavier's kissing skills seemed to have improved a lot; previously, he was very rough, but recently he seemed to have become gentle.
It should be said, Xavier inexplicably seemed like a different person.
A while ago, Xavier was unusually irritable and inexplicably fierce, but these past few days, Xavier had been extremely gentle.
When Grace's mind went blank, Xavier released her. "Now, do you know what kind of scent it is?"
"You... I... I haven't brushed my teeth yet!" Grace was flushed.
Xavier chuckled lightly. "I didn't mind, but you mind yourself?"
At that moment, there was a knock on the door. "Mr. Montgomery, your breakfast is here."
When Grace heard the voice, her heart skipped a beat, as if she was having an affair with Xavier and was caught by someone.
She pushed Xavier away. "I'll go freshen up first."
Grace ran away. Then, Xavier let the person outside come in.
Kieran brought in breakfast and looked around. "Ms. Lewis isn't here?"
Xavier said lightly, "She's sheepish."
