Chapter 367 Conducting a DNA Test with the Coleman Family Brothers
Grace knew getting the crystal back would be tough, but once she confirmed it was in Patrick's hands, things would get a bit easier.
She quickly left Patrick's office. Ryan wanted to chase after her, but Patrick stopped him.
"Hold up!" Patrick said. Ryan tried to explain, "Dad, I just want to talk to Grace for a sec."
When Grace visited, he didn't get a chance to say a word to her. He was dying for even a brief chat.
"Seriously, Ryan? With everything going on, you're still acting like a child. How can I possibly entrust you with the company?" Patrick was still disappointed in his son.
Even though Ryan had calmed down a lot lately, he still wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
"Dad, now that Grace returned the shares and you have the crystal, why didn't you tell me sooner? I had no idea marrying her would be such a goldmine."
Had he known, he would have jumped at the chance, never rejecting the proposal in the first place.
Ryan glared at him, "Idiot!"
If Ryan weren't so clueless, there wouldn't be all this drama.
He hadn't told Ryan because he knew his son couldn't keep a secret. If Grace found out, she'd be even more resistant to the marriage.
Plus, the one engaged to Grace as a kid wasn't Ryan, so Patrick had to make sure everything was airtight. He didn't expect Xavier to come back to Skigeth.
Patrick and Ryan chatted for a bit, then the secretary knocked and came in, "Mr. Montgomery, two guys are downstairs blocking Grace."
Patrick immediately pulled up the surveillance footage. Seeing the two men, his eyes narrowed, "Go, send someone to follow them and report back to me right away."
Ryan was confused, "Dad, who are those guys? What's their deal with Grace?"
Patrick found the two guys on the footage familiar. Or rather, their vibe was definitely not ordinary.
Downstairs, Grace was about to leave.
In the elevator, Grace was deep in thought. If what Patrick said was true, there was no way Evelyn had that kind of money.
Three hundred million dollars as a dowry wasn't chump change. If it were a small sum, Patrick wouldn't be so fixated on it.
The fact that Patrick was after that money meant it was a big deal.
Grace was sure Evelyn was hiding something. The money, the goddess statue, her disguised appearance – it was all too much of a coincidence.
Just as Grace was lost in thought, she saw Steven and Scott as she walked out of the Montgomery Group's door.
"Steven, Scott? You're still in Skigeth?" Grace greeted them.
Steven looked at her, "We went back to Aetheria to see Grandpa. Thanks for taking him to the hospital that day."
"It was the right thing to do. Is he okay?" Grace was still worried about Chase.
Steven said, "He's fine. He's been discharged."
"That's good." Grace felt relieved.
Steven continued, "You probably know about our family. We've been looking for our aunt. Even Grandpa thought you looked a lot like her when he saw you, so I have a favor to ask."
Grace responded, "Go ahead. If I can help, I will!"
Steven said, "Even though we've checked your background and your mom isn't the aunt we're looking for, we still want to take a shot in the dark. Can we get a couple of strands of your hair for verification?"
Grace never thought she had any connection with the Coleman family. But with all the mysteries surrounding Evelyn and that huge sum of money, she started to suspect Evelyn might be the person the Coleman family was searching for.
She wondered if Evelyn had fabricated a false identity, deceiving the entire Coleman family. A DNA test couldn't hurt.
"Sure thing." Grace was also curious if she had any ties to the Coleman family. "I'll go to the hospital with you. I need a check-up anyway."
She'd been feeling nauseous while eating lately, so it was better to get checked out.
"Alright." Steven nodded, "Hop in our car, and we'll go together."
Grace told her bodyguards they could take off and followed Steven and Scott.
Patrick watched this from the surveillance room, his eyes narrowing.
The guys Patrick had sent to follow them quickly reported back, saying they went to the hospital and gave him the address.
"Got it." Everything was going according to Patrick's plan.
"Dad, what's going on? Who are those guys?" Ryan was clueless and pacing around.
Patrick furrowed his brows, ignoring Ryan, and made a phone call.
The call was quickly answered, and Patrick said, "Luca, long time no see. When can we grab a meal together? You're the dean now, and I haven't properly congratulated you. How about tonight?"
Patrick continued, "We're friends; no need for formalities. But remember when you were going for the dean position, the Montgomery Group had your back. You haven't forgotten, right?"
"Good. I need a small favor. Don't worry, it'll be perfect, and no one will find out." Patrick then explained what he needed.
Ryan listened in shock. After Patrick hung up, he finally spoke, "Dad, you..."
Patrick warned, "Shut up! Don't tell anyone about this, got it?"
Ryan said nervously, "But Dad, I don't even know what you're doing. Who are those guys, and what's their deal with Grace?"
Patrick coldly replied, "You don't need to know."
Ryan continued, "Dad, messing with DNA samples is illegal, isn't it?"
Patrick huffed, "What do you know? No one will find out. I'm doing this for the Montgomery family!"
Grace, Steven, and Scott quickly arrived at the hospital. DNA testing can be done with any body tissue, but for accuracy, they chose to draw blood.
"How long will it take?" Steven asked the doctor.
The test would take some time. The fastest result could be out today, but it would be later.
If they were in Aetheria, they had their own medical team and could test it directly.
But in Skigeth, they didn't have their team, so they chose to come to the hospital.
Steven decided to wait at the hospital for the results.
Grace had other matters. She told Steven and Scott, "I've been feeling a bit nauseous lately. I want to get it checked out."
"We'll go with you," Steven said.
"No need, I'll go myself." Grace politely declined.
To be safe, Grace wanted to visit the obstetrics and gynecology department, which wouldn't be convenient with Steven and Scott tagging along.
