Chapter 512 The Conman Scott
The Ross family had left, but Edith became scared.
She held Ainsley's hand and shook it, "Mom, don't marry me off to the Ross family. There must be a way, right? This is all Angela's fault. Angela went and got married herself, leaving our family in a bind. I can't marry in her place, Mom."
Edith's eyes were red from crying, and Ainsley felt a pang of heartache as she looked at her.
"Let me think about it," Ainsley said, unsure of how to resolve the situation.
If not handled properly, they could offend the Ross family.
If the Ross family got angry, it would be not good if they took it out on Omari.
"Mom, we can't just let Angela get away with this. Angela has gone too far. Who knows what she'll do next? She doesn't respect you at all; otherwise, she wouldn't have done this."
Edith was furious. If it weren't for Angela, she wouldn't be in this situation.
She was really scared, afraid that the Turner family would marry her off.
She liked Omari, although she had never expressed it. She thought that as long as she and Omari didn't get married, they could maintain their current relationship.
Ainsley's eyes were filled with disgust as she looked at Cruz, "It's all because you spoiled her. You never disciplined Angela, and now look at what she's become!"
Cruz said, "I'm always at work. You were the one taking care of the kids, weren't you?"
Cruz was also angry, "Now we've offended the Ross family. What are we going to do?"
"What are we going to do? How should I know? That Angela, the next time I see her, I'm going to kill her!" Ainsley's eyes were filled with rage.
Scott's car was still parked outside the hotel. Angela got in first and received a message on her phone.
Angela picked up her phone, thinking it was just spam, but then she took a closer look!
Was this a scam message?
The message said that fifty million dollars had suddenly been transferred into her account.
This seemed too real. How could the sender even know her previous balance?
Angela even took a screenshot and sent it to Grace, telling her it was a new type of scam.
When Scott got in the car, he saw that Angela didn't look too happy.
He asked, "What's wrong?"
Was she still upset about the Ross family and the Turner family?
Scott arrived just in time. Angela showed him her phone, "Look at this."
Scott looked at the message. It must be the money he had just transferred. Was there a problem?
"Scammers are getting bolder. They even tried to scam me with fifty million dollars. Who would be stupid enough to give me fifty million dollars?"
"Do you believe that the next step will be a phone call asking me to return the fifty million dollars or saying my account is frozen and I need to click a link to unfreeze it? Forget it, you wouldn't understand."
Scott didn't know what to say when he was called a stupid foreign scammer. For a moment, he felt like he had forgotten his native language.
"I'm not a foreigner. My parents and ancestors are all from Vesperia."
Scott paused, "And I was the one who transferred the money."
Now it was Angela's turn to be stunned, "What? Fifty million dollars? You transferred it? Why would you give me money?"
Is this how rich people operate?
"Your mom said I didn't give any money for the marriage. I don't know if this amount is enough. If not, I can transfer more."
Angela didn't know what to say. She said, "My mom asked you for money, and you gave it to her? Did she ask you to give it to her, and you gave it to me instead?"
Scott said, "It was meant for you."
Angela suddenly felt a lump in her throat. She never intended to take money from the Coleman family, and her marriage to Scott was fake. They would divorce in a year.
Wasn't Scott afraid she would run off with the money? Fifty million dollars was a lot.
She suddenly reached out and hugged Scott.
"Thank you," she said, her clear voice ringing in Scott's ears.
Scott's body stiffened. When Angela hugged him, his heart skipped a beat.
Even after Angela let go, he hadn't fully processed it.
Angela said, "I can't take this money. I'll return it to you later."
It wasn't hers to take. Their marriage was already benefiting her more.
"No need to return it. It's necessary, whether the marriage is real or fake. If you need a wedding, I need to prepare."
Although Scott didn't like women, he wasn't one to cut corners. He wouldn't skimp on anything.
"No need, no need for the trouble," Angela quickly refused. If they had a wedding, everyone would know when they divorced.
It was better to marry quietly and divorce quietly.
"Don't get too emotional, and don't fall in love with me. We're destined to divorce in a year," Scott said clearly.
He was reminding Angela not to get too emotional.
Angela was silent.
Scott was so full of himself. Did she seem like someone who would be moved by such a small gesture?
Even if she was a little moved, it was all gone now.
"Don't worry, I'm not interested in you, and I won't be moved. But what if you fall in love with me?"
"That won't happen."
"Good!" Angela sat back, sitting properly. She would definitely return the money to Scott.
If Scott didn't want it, she would return it when they divorced. She wouldn't touch it.
Liking Scott? That would never happen!
Grace saw the message and asked Angela if it was a scam or a payment from a partner.
Angela said, "It was a misunderstanding. I've figured out the source."
She had made a fool of herself, calling it a scam.
"That's good. Didn't you meet with the Ross family today? How did it go?"
"It was great. You should have seen their faces. They were so upset. I don't think the Ross family will let the Turner family off easily. But they brought it on themselves. They were too much, forcing me to marry. I even suggested Edith marry instead. But it seems the Ross family isn't picky. We'll have to wait and see."
Angela was waiting to see the drama unfold. Her plan was perfect.
Edith had been arrogant for so many years, playing the good daughter. Now it was time for her to face the consequences.
