Chapter 404 Falling into a Familiar Embrace

"With all these eyes on us, you know exactly who's stirring the pot. You just don't wanna take off your makeup, so you're making excuses," Stephanie thought Grace was just scared. She whipped out some makeup remover. "I've got some right here. Care to try?"

Grace shot back with a calm smile, "I'm game."

Stephanie chuckled, "Fine, I'll go first."

Stephanie wasn't worried about taking off her makeup. She wanted to show off her natural beauty first, then have Grace do the same, highlighting the stark contrast for everyone to see.

With that, Stephanie expertly removed her makeup.

People nearby started murmuring enviously, "Wow, she's pretty even without makeup. So jealous."

"Yeah, her face is a bit puffy, but it doesn't matter. She looks like a celeb."

Hearing this, Stephanie felt super proud. She turned to Grace, "Your turn. Go ahead."

Grace didn't even acknowledge her, nor did she take the makeup remover from Stephanie. She was wary it might be tampered with.

Grace had her own makeup tools in her bag, including some quick makeup removal wipes.

Coincidentally, her doctor had advised her to avoid using cosmetics as much as possible. Sooner or later, people would see her real face anyway.

Grace wiped off the dark foundation on her face, and with just one swipe, Stephanie was floored.

Stephanie was baffled. Grace's face, usually dark, rough, and freckled, now looked so delicate where she had wiped off the foundation.

Her skin was so soft it looked like it could be pinched, like a baby's skin.

Others were also watching Grace curiously, but as she slowly removed her makeup, their jaws dropped.

If Stephanie's bare face was beautiful, then Grace, who looked plain with makeup, was like an angel after removing it, unbelievably stunning.

They thought her eyelashes were fake, long and curled, but they were real, and she hadn't even used mascara!

At the same time, they were mesmerized by the captivating allure of Grace's radiant skin.

Even Stephanie, who was closest to Grace, was stunned. She widened her eyes, looking at Grace in disbelief.

Grace ignored Stephanie's shocked expression and said directly, "You see? What you do with Xavier is none of my business. You don't need to prove anything to me. If you bother me again, don't expect me to be polite!"

Her warning tone, cold eyes, and stunning face gave off a queenly aura.

Stephanie's breath hitched, "You..."

Grace didn't even glance at her and quickly left the beach.

Stephanie stood frozen for a long time, still unable to comprehend the remarkable transformation in Grace's appearance without makeup.

Stephanie's mind was in turmoil; the Grace she remembered was merely an unattractive woman. Finally, she realized that Grace had been deliberately hiding her true beauty. She believed Xavier must have seen Grace's real face as well.

Those who previously praised her beauty now began to whisper and point at Stephanie. "Everyone can see who is truly more beautiful. She probably tried to steal someone else's boyfriend and, failing that, has come to slander others."

"That's possible. Look how aggressive she is, it's laughable. Competing in makeup removal to see who's prettier, how embarrassing."

Stephanie, who cared most about her reputation, felt more humiliated by their whispers than a slap in the face.

Her face burned with shame, and she felt utterly humiliated!

Her fingers clenched tightly into her palms as anger morphed into jealousy. She resolved to ruin Grace's face!

Stephanie picked up her phone and made a call, "Get me something."

The Coleman family was in their room, and Grace went back there directly.

The shortest route was to walk straight back, but it would pass by the mansion, which held too many memories. Grace didn't want to think about them, so she took a longer route.

When she got back to her place, she saw Steven at the door.

"Steven," Grace walked over and asked, "Why are you outside?"

Steven inquired, staring at Grace's striking face, "Grace, why did you remove your makeup?"

"I just did," Grace didn't want Steven to worry.

Steven was anxious, "I heard something happened at the beach. Did someone give you trouble?"

Grace hadn't anticipated that news would reach Steven so swiftly. She said, "Someone did come looking for trouble, but I've already dealt with it. She didn't manage to bully me."

"Grace, if you're upset, tell us. Don't keep it inside. We're your family, and you can always rely on us." Seven said softly.

"I know, Steven. I won't let myself be wronged."

"Do you want me to teach that person a lesson?" Steven added.

"No need. Besides, she's a woman. What would it look like if you stepped in? And I've already slapped her. It felt great!" Grace smiled.

Thinking about the two slaps she gave Stephanie, Grace felt satisfied. "Let's go inside."

There were no suites left, so each of the Coleman family member had their own room in this row. Grace went to keep Chase company for a while.

When it was time for dinner, Grace thought about having it delivered to the room, but Chase wanted to eat in the restaurant.

So the family went to the restaurant. There were quite a few individuals dining there. They found a spot and ordered food.

Chase seemed to like it there. He smiled, "The environment and air here are nice, perfect for recuperation. Let's stay here longer. What do you think, Grace?"

Grace nodded, "Of course, stay as long as you want."

"Then you have to stay with me," Chase held Grace's hands.

"No problem," Grace agreed. She indeed needed a good rest and some relaxation.

With Lily and the others managing the company, everything was on track, and Grace felt very reassured.

While they were eating, someone suddenly approached and called Grace's name, "Grace!"

Grace only saw some fluids being thrown at her. The next second, a familiar figure quickly shielded her, and she fell into a familiar embrace.

The familiar scent made Grace look at the cold face in a daze, her mind going blank.

Her eyes suddenly felt sore, and uncontrollable emotions surged up.

It wasn't until she heard a piercing sound and smelled something burning that she reacted.

Before she could react, Xavier had already let go of her.

Xavier did not dare to look at Grace; instead, his murderous gaze was fixed on Stephanie. In an icy, bone-chilling voice, he demanded, "What are you up to?"
