Chapter 645 Repeated Encounters
Grace was still thinking about the last time she accidentally fell into his arms when she opened the door. Meanwhile, on the security footage, a group of thugs had started to provoke them. The man protected Grace and single-handedly took down the entire group with ease.
"Wow, that's awesome!" Marcus exclaimed.
The man's fighting moves were incredibly impressive. He was so fast that Marcus could barely keep up.
Marcus wondered if the guy could teach him. He wanted to be that cool too!
Grace watched as the lead thug pointed a gun at the man. To her surprise, he swiftly disarmed the thug and took control.
His movements, his demeanor—it all reminded her so much of Xavier.
Except for his face, everything about him seemed familiar to Grace.
But appearances can be changed, right? Grace herself had disguised her face before. Could this man's appearance have been altered too?
Then, the man pushed Grace aside and walked away. Just as she was about to fall, he caught her again.
Later, he picked her up and carried her out of the bar.
The security footage ended there.
Grace's heart trembled. She had to know who this man was!
"Hey, can I get a copy of this footage?" Grace asked the bar's security.
"Sure thing."
Grace watched the video several times in her car.
Then she turned to Marcus. "Sweetie, you're pretty good at this stuff. Can you help me find out who this guy is?"
"Mom, are you interested in him? How about I just kidnap him for you? If he doesn't want to be with you, we won't let him go. How about that?"
Marcus was serious. His mom finally showed interest in someone, even if the guy looked a bit ordinary. But he seemed really impressive.
Marcus thought about it seriously. If it were just a regular kidnapping, the guy would probably escape easily.
So, he decided to drug him, maybe with a laxative, so he'd be too weak to run. Then his mom could do whatever she wanted!
"What are you thinking? I want to know his identity."
He felt so familiar to her. Grace's fingers clenched tightly, and she bit her lip, her eyes slightly red.
"Alright, I'll look into it!" Marcus said, heading off to gather information.
Marcus was a computer whiz and a top hacker. Hacking into a major corporation's system was a piece of cake for him. Finding information on one person should be a breeze.
But now, he felt like he hit a wall. Why couldn't he find anything on this guy?
"Mom, this is weird. There's no information on him, but his face seems to show up a lot in Thalassia."
"Thalassia?" That chaotic country?
And Marcus couldn't find anything? That made it even stranger.
This could only mean that the man was definitely not ordinary. He must be hiding something!
If Marcus couldn't find anything, Dorian surely would know.
Grace took a shower to clear her mind. The next morning, she went straight to see Dorian.
"Mr. Astor, please tell me who he is. It's really important to me!" Grace was desperate to know his identity.
Dorian sighed. "Grace, do you think he looks like Xavier?"
The man's height, build, and even his calm, cold demeanor were all very much like Xavier.
Dorian had the same thought when he first saw him.
Although he hadn't seen Xavier many times, Xavier had left a deep impression on him.
Someone like Xavier, once seen, could never be forgotten because he was so unique.
Grace nodded. She thought he looked a lot like Xavier, which is why she came to ask Dorian.
Dorian said, "I can't tell you his identity, but I can assure you, he is definitely not Xavier."
He was a top assassin, someone close to Hugh.
He was extremely dangerous, and Hugh wanted to use him for his plans. If Grace got close to him, she could become a pawn in their game.
And this matter involved Aetheria's decisions. Grace was now a Vesperia citizen, so he couldn't tell her.
"Are you sure?" Grace asked.
Dorian replied, "From every angle, he can't be Xavier. Grace, I understand how you feel."
Their family had suffered so much. Elizabeth had left him for so many years, and now Xavier had left Grace, leaving her alone with a child.
The situations were eerily similar. The one left behind always bore the endless pain.
Hearing Dorian's words, Grace felt like a bucket of cold water had been poured over her.
Dorian looked at her with sympathy. "When are you and Marcus planning to leave Aetheria?"
"Probably in the next few days," Grace said, feeling lost.
"Before you go, could you and Marcus join me for a meal?"
"Of course," Grace agreed.
Then she left Dorian's place.
Driving herself, she still felt an indescribable sadness. Even though she had faced disappointment many times, knowing he wasn't Xavier still hurt deeply.
Grace's mind was a mess. As she drove through an intersection, a car suddenly sped towards her. She quickly turned the wheel and hit the brakes, avoiding the oncoming vehicle.
In doing so, she collided with another car.
The loud crash left Grace shaken. She forgot to get out of the car.
The other driver got out and knocked on her window.
Grace opened the door. "I'm sorry, the car in front of me suddenly sped up, and I..."
She stopped mid-sentence when she saw the man's face.
"It's you!" Grace was surprised. She hadn't expected to run into him again so soon.
It was the man from the bar. What was he doing here?
"Miss, do you like pretending to crash into people?" The man looked surprised to see her but then sneered.
After several encounters, he was on his way to see Dorian, and this woman seemed to be coming from the direction of the palace.
Killer was increasingly convinced she was one of Dorian's people.
This woman was beautiful, but could Dorian be using her to try to change his plans?
And this woman, pretending to be innocent, was actually doing it on purpose. Otherwise, how could they keep running into each other?
It seemed her plan to seduce him last night had failed, and now she was risking her life to crash into him.
