Chapter 287 Grace, I Want to Be With You
Grace's legs went all jelly, and Xavier's hand shot out to keep her from face-planting.
First time Xavier had ever given her a piggyback ride. Dude's back was solid, and Grace's arms were looped around his neck.
Her head rested on his back, and from this angle, she could see the back of Xavier's head. If she tilted her head just a bit, she could see his ear, his cheek, and his Adam's apple.
Man, Xavier's Adam's apple was something else—super prominent and kinda hot.
Angela had mentioned before that guys with big Adam's apples usually...
Grace quickly shook off those naughty thoughts. No science to back it up, but Xavier seemed like he'd be a beast in bed, just naturally gifted.
Thinking about it, Grace giggled softly.
"What's so funny?" Xavier heard her laugh and couldn't help but grin too.
"Nothing!" No way was Grace spilling what was on her mind.
She quickly switched gears, "Actually, I was just kidding. If I'm too heavy, you can put me down. I can walk."
Xavier said, "Even if you gained some weight, I could still carry you."
Honestly, Xavier thought Grace was too skinny. Every time he held her, she felt like a feather.
Lately, she seemed even lighter. He'd have to make sure she ate more.
Xavier's steps were steady as he slowly walked to the small villa.
They passed some folks on the way, and Grace noticed some heads turning. Looked like she was getting some envious stares.
Not many people could get Xavier to carry them, after all.
The walk wasn't short, but it felt quick to Grace because the small villa was already in sight.
Maybe it was because Xavier's legs were long, so he walked fast?
"Xavier," she called his name.
"What?" Xavier responded.
"When are you going back to Oakworth?" Grace asked, "The DG Group's main stuff is in Oakworth, so you should be heading back, right?"
"Yeah," Xavier replied.
"So when do you plan to leave?" Grace's voice was right by his ear.
Xavier's steps paused for a moment, then he kept walking.
He should've left a while ago. He came back to Skigeth just to see the Montgomery family crash and burn.
Even though the Montgomery Group was still around, the Montgomery family was under his thumb. It looked all fancy on the outside, but he could pull the plug anytime and watch them crumble.
But he hadn't done it yet. If he took down the Montgomery family, he'd have no reason to stick around.
Right now, he didn't want to leave.
"I don't know," Xavier said.
He'd thought about it but didn't have an answer.
Maybe there was something here he wanted to hold onto, something he didn't want to leave behind.
Maybe he was waiting for the right moment, wanting to take certain things with him when he left.
Grace chuckled softly, but Xavier felt her laughter wasn't really happy.
Xavier was gonna leave eventually, so they'd part ways sooner or later. They weren't from the same world. So it was better not to start anything.
These past few days, she had been really happy, she...
Xavier asked, "Would you like to go back to Oakworth with me?"
"What?" Grace's head snapped up, and her arms tightened around Xavier's neck, almost choking him.
They had arrived, and Xavier gently set Grace down.
Xavier said, "I don't really dig Skigeth, but I know it's your hometown. I'm gonna leave eventually. Wanna come with me?"
Grace smiled, a totally different smile from before. "So, Mr. Montgomery is inviting me?"
"Yeah," Xavier admitted, no hesitation.
The streetlights were dim, but their eyes locked. They could both feel the vibes between them.
"So, Mr. Montgomery, in what capacity are you inviting me?" Grace was super close to him.
At first glance, it seemed like Grace was testing him.
But really, the reluctance and control in those eyes were all Xavier.
Grace said, "I don't wanna be your side chick, and I won't be a secret lover. If you just see me as someone to hook up with whenever it suits you, and then toss me aside with some cash, we got no reason to continue."
Xavier said, "That's not what I mean. I never saw you as a side chick or tried to pay you off.."
It was just that repeated interactions had made him deeply infatuated.
Even though Grace was that woman's daughter, Xavier felt that the matters of the previous generation had nothing to do with Grace; she was innocent.
When he saw Grace with other men, he would go crazy with jealousy. He wanted to possess Grace, to make her belong only to him, to have her eyes always follow him.
Xavier leaned in close, his breath warm against her ear. "Grace, I wanna be with you."
Grace stared blankly at Xavier, unable to believe these words came from his mouth.
She could clearly hear her own heartbeat, beating for Xavier.
Xavier didn't give Grace a chance to respond, pulling her close and wrapping his arms around her waist. "Do you wanna be with me? To go back to Oakworth with me?"
His voice was full of temptation, and with his handsome face, Grace almost nodded.
But reason told her that being with Xavier would bring many difficulties.
She had always wanted a peaceful life, free from conflicts and schemes. If she chose to be with Xavier, it would inevitably be tumultuous. But Grace still wanted to try because she liked Xavier and wanted to marry him!
"I do, but..." Before Grace could finish, Xavier impatiently kissed her.
As long as Grace was willing, nothing else mattered.
"We're outside... There are people over there..." Grace's voice came out in broken fragments from her throat.
She always felt like someone would see them!
Xavier picked Grace up and used facial recognition to open the door to the small villa.
Xavier carried Grace inside and placed her on the sofa, his tall body pressing down on her.
His lips were hot, and the skin Grace touched felt like it was burning.
Grace tilted her neck, passively accepting Xavier's kisses. Although his movements were always rough, this was the happiest she had ever been.
Her dress had no extra embellishments, and Xavier easily stripped it off.
The sofa was not small, but with Grace and Xavier's bodies entwined, it seemed not big enough.
Grace's dress was a strapless one, and Xavier pulled it down, his hot lips landing on her shoulder, leaving a bite mark.
