Chapter 290 You Were Just Spying on Me for So Long

Sterling strolled over and handed the pool cue straight to Grace.

Sterling's eyes were dancing with a mix of amusement and aggression, and his face was a total mystery.

Grace glanced at the pool cue in front of her, but before she could even react, Xavier had already pressed it down for her. He had this dominant vibe going on, and his gaze turned ice-cold.

Xavier smirked, "I don't think a match with Mr. Wallace would end in a tie. You can't beat me."

Xavier's words were dripping with arrogance, even more than Sterling's. Sterling shot back, "Oh, really?"

"Isn't it, Mr. Eternal Second Place?" Xavier's jab made Sterling's eyes darken. He absolutely hated being called that.

Back in school, no matter what they did, Xavier was always first, and Sterling was always second. Even in projects, he couldn't outshine Xavier.

Sterling always felt like Lady Luck was on his side, but every time he bet against Xavier, he almost never won.

Xavier, cue in hand, effortlessly sank each ball with masterful precision. His high-difficulty shots had Victor's jaw dropping.

Victor blurted out, "Xavier, why didn't you show this skill earlier? Were you not planning to save me?"

He thought, 'If Xavier had played like this earlier, Sterling would have been toast long ago.'

Grace watched Xavier with concern. She didn't know much about pool, but she could tell he was a pro.

With the final shot, Sterling didn't even get a chance to play.

"Won, won!" Victor was more pumped than anyone.

Xavier's win meant that Victor's hand and the land were safe.

Feeling cocky, Victor started to gloat, "Weren't you all tough just now? You're still Xavier's loser. You said it yourself, if you lost, it would be written off, and you have to agree to one of Xavier's conditions!"

Victor was now super pleased and arrogant.

"A bet's a bet. What's the condition?" Sterling wasn't one to back down from a bet.

Xavier said, "I'll hold onto it for now."

"Alright." Sterling nodded, but his eyes lingered on Grace.

Losing interest, Sterling left with his crew.

Victor raised his fist behind him, like he wanted to punch Sterling, but of course, he only dared to make a show of it.

Once Sterling was gone, Victor said, "So if Grace hadn't shown up just now, were you not gonna play your best?"

He could tell that Xavier's reckless style was driven by his desire not to drag Grace into it.

"You can't fix the mess you made yourself, and you still have the nerve to blame me?" Xavier's cold eyes bore into him.

Xavier hadn't yet settled the score with Victor for interrupting his good time.

"I was wrong, okay? Why are you so fierce?" Victor quickly begged for mercy.

"If you ever need my help , I've got your back!" Victor even swore.

"He doesn't blame you." Grace tugged on Xavier's sleeve, knowing that Xavier wasn't really mad at Victor.

Grace said, "Mr. Hastings, it's getting late. How about we head back and rest? We can keep the fun going tomorrow."

Isaac nodded. "I'll take Victor away then."

So Isaac dragged Victor away, leaving just Grace and Xavier.

"I didn't expect you to be so good at pool. Is there anything you can't do?" Grace was curious.

She thought, 'Is there really anything in this world that Xavier can't do?'

Xavier grabbed a cue and handed it to Grace. "Wanna learn? I'll show you the ropes."

"Sure," Grace said, taking it. "But why teach me?"

Xavier shrugged, "It's always good to have more tricks up your sleeve."

Grace nodded. Made sense. Having an extra skill never hurt anyone.

"Alright, I'll make sure to pay attention in Professor Xavier's class," she joked.

Xavier set up the pool balls, pushed them to the center, and started explaining the game to Grace.

In his head, Xavier thought, 'Why teach Grace? Duh, I have my reasons. If I don't, someone else might. What if she wants to learn later and ends up with someone like Sterling? No way.'

Grace picked up on things fast. She quickly got the hang of what Xavier was saying, and after a few rounds, she was already pretty good for a beginner.

Xavier grinned, "If you play against Victor now, you shouldn't lose."

Grace smirked, "Then I'll practice with him tomorrow."

If Victor knew he was gonna be Grace's practice dummy, he'd probably be crying right now.

Grace yawned, "It's getting late. Let's call it a night, Mr. Montgomery."

Xavier nodded, "Okay."

They headed back to their place. Grace had already showered and smelled amazing.

When she went to find Xavier, she had put on makeup again, so the first thing she did when she got back was to take it off.

Grace was ready to crash. Nothing had happened between her and Xavier, so it shouldn't continue, right?

After washing her face, Grace came out of the bathroom, makeup-free. Her face was delicate, and her features were both alluring and gentle. She was a perfect mix of innocence and allure, with every move exuding a fatal attraction.

Grace saw Xavier sitting on the sofa. Even when chilling, he dressed sharp, in a shirt and dress pants.

Now, Xavier sat there, legs crossed, exuding a restrained allure. And between his legs was Xavier's undeniable pride. Even in black, it was hard to miss. Despite sitting, the shape was already very impressive.

Grace's face turned beet red, and she quickly looked away. She was a decent person, not a lecher.

Her gaze moved up, and Xavier's prominent Adam's apple was lethally sexy. His shirt buttons were undone, revealing his collarbone and the firm muscles of his chest.

He was holding a tablet, reading some messages. Before Xavier noticed her, Grace quickly averted her gaze, but the blush on her face was obvious.

Suddenly, Grace felt a bit parched, probably because of the heat!

She went over to pour herself a glass of water and asked Xavier if he wanted any.

But Xavier had already put down the tablet and was walking towards her.

As Xavier got closer, Grace felt the air grow hotter.

She quickly brought the glass to her lips, drinking water to cover her reaction.

She had barely taken a sip when she felt Xavier's hand wrap around her waist, pulling her into his embrace. Her scorching body pressed against Xavier's chest, and due to her height, her eyes were fixed on his Adam's apple as it moved.

Grace's mind went blank, filled only with Xavier's male presence.

At the same time, Xavier's voice whispered in her ear, "You were sneaking looks at me for a long time. Do you think I want a drink?"
