Chapter 242 Are You Jealous?
Grace and Xavier stood together.
"Ryan's outburst won't affect you, right?" Grace asked, worried.
She wasn't too concerned for herself but didn't want Xavier to be affected.
Xavier shrugged off Ryan. "He can't cause any trouble."
Ryan was too foolish, despite his privileged background. He had every advantage but wasted it, leaving his future uncertain.
"What if Stephanie finds out?" Grace asked, looking at Xavier.
Xavier frowned at the mention of Stephanie. "Are you worried about her or what she might do to you?"
"Is there a difference?" Grace replied.
She didn't seem to care if Stephanie came after her. In her mind, even if Stephanie leveraged her influence to intimidate others, she could handle it, and besides Iris, she had nothing to lose.
"Then why worry about Stephanie? Are you jealous?" Xavier asked.
"Of course not!" Grace said, though her ears turned red.
"If you're not, then don't worry about her. I've told you, I have nothing to do with Stephanie," Xavier said.
"But Stephanie is very jealous, and I didn't handle it well. Be careful," Xavier continued. He planned to have people protect Grace but still worried about gaps in security.
Xavier hadn't realized he now saw Grace as someone to protect.
Grace nodded but still felt uneasy. The Montgomery family and Stephanie were a headache.
Grace always felt watched, but when she looked around, she saw no one.
Not far away, Jared was watching Grace, holding a tablet with her information.
Grace's background was surprisingly ordinary. Her mother, Evelyn Clark, was a plain-looking woman from the countryside. Her parents seemed indifferent, barely interacting with her over the years.
Grace's father, Zach, was also incompetent, having messed up both his company and family.
It seemed impossible for Grace to be connected to Elizabeth Coleman. They just had similar eyes, which didn't mean anything. What was he hoping for?
The Elizabeth that Jared knew didn't have the last name Clark.
Just then, a voice called from behind Jared. "Jared."
Jared turned to see two young men in suits. He greeted them warmly.
"Steven, Scott, glad you could make it," Jared said, hugging them.
"Jared, I didn't expect your birthday party to be in Skigeth. I thought it would be abroad," Scott said.
Jared and the Coleman family had been family friends for generations, with a particularly good relationship.
Decades ago, the two families lived close to each other. Elizabeth and Jared even grew up together.
"I've been abroad too long and missed home. I just bought a yacht, but Oakworth doesn't have a sea, so Skigeth was the best choice," Jared said with a smile. "I didn't expect you two to return. When did you come back?"
"We've been back for..." Scott started but was nudged by Steven. Scott changed his words. "Not long ago. We came specifically for your birthday."
Steven added, "Jared, happy birthday. My grandpa knew I was coming and asked me to send his regards."
Jared smiled. "Our families are so close; no need for formalities. It's my fault for not visiting Mr. Coleman in a while. How's his health?"
"He's doing well," Steven replied.
They chatted for a bit, but Jared, being the host, soon had to attend to other guests.
Scott sighed. "He's so devoted, staying single for Aunt Elizabeth."
But Elizabeth...
A flicker of something passed through Steven's eyes. He looked ahead and saw them.
Grace and Xavier stood together, looking well-matched.
Previously, outside a restaurant, Steven had caught a glimpse of Grace with those familiar eyes. He had investigated and found out that Grace's last name was Lewis, and her mother's was Clark, not Elizabeth.
Later, at a fashion show, Steven and Scott saw a woman on the runway with a veil covering her face, showing only her eyes. Those eyes looked very much like Elizabeth's.
Steven immediately contacted the organizers to investigate the model, but it turned out not to be Elizabeth.
However, the model's face and eyes seemed different from what Steven saw on the runway.
But when Steven dug deeper, he found nothing.
To this day, they remained unaware of Elizabeth's exact whereabouts.
Steven started walking towards Grace.
"Steven, where are you going?" Scott quickly followed.
Xavier was introducing someone to Grace. "Over there is Neil Turner, the owner of the AT Group. He's a decent guy. Although their business isn't related to yours, they often need gifts for clients. If you can connect with him, it could mean a lot of sales."
"That gentleman is hard to deal with, but his wife is easier to talk to. If you want to collaborate, you can start with his wife."
Grace noted everything down, planning to make contact later.
These people were indeed big shots, ones Grace usually couldn't reach.
"Mr. Montgomery."
A voice came from behind, and Xavier and Grace turned around together.
"Mr. Coleman, I didn't expect to see you here." Xavier nodded in greeting.
"The Coleman family and the Peterson family are old friends, so we're here to celebrate," Steven said, his gaze falling on Grace.
Every time Steven saw her, he marveled at how much Grace resembled Elizabeth.
"Is that so? Then Mr. Coleman must be busy. We won't disturb you," Xavier said indifferently, ready to leave with Grace.
"Mr. Montgomery, aren't you going to introduce the lady beside you?" Steven said.
Xavier's eyes narrowed. He knew Steven, who was usually reticent. Steven wasn't typically the curious type, but why was he suddenly interested in Grace?
Xavier remembered that during the fashion show, Steven and Scott had also gone backstage to see Grace.
Xavier didn't know what Steven was up to. He pulled Grace closer, a gesture of claiming his territory.
"This is my date, Grace," Xavier said.
"Hello, I'm Steven, and this is my brother, Scott." Before Xavier could introduce them, Steven took the initiative to introduce himself.
