Chapter 415 Mr. Montgomery Regained His Clarity
Grace woke up to find it was already daylight. She quickly realized she was in Xavier's arms, her face pressed against his warm chest, and he was holding her tight.
Still groggy, Grace lifted her head and saw Xavier's face. She quickly pushed him away, sending him tumbling off the bed and onto the floor with a thud.
Xavier let out a muffled groan as Grace scrambled to her feet. "I didn't mean to! Why did you climb into my bed?" she demanded.
"Are you sure it was me who climbed into your bed?" Xavier shot back.
Grace suddenly remembered that Xavier had fainted yesterday, and she and the doctor had helped move him onto the bed. But how did they end up in bed together, all cuddled up?
"Now that it's daylight, you can leave!" Grace decided to drop the subject.
Xavier said, "Grace, I have a lot to say to you."
"You don't need to say anything. Let's just pretend you weren't here last night. Don't show up in front of me again. If you get drunk and bother me again, I'll call the police!" Grace threatened.
Xavier found Grace's blushing face incredibly cute.
Grace pointed to the door. "Just get out! Now!"
Just then, there was a knock on the door. "Grace, are you awake? Want to go have breakfast together?"
It was Scott, and he was right at the door.
Xavier's face was still a bit pale, possibly due to illness. After a night's rest, the redness in his eyes had subsided.
Xavier said, "Are you sure you want me to go out now?"
Grace was unsure. Why did Scott suddenly come, and at this exact moment? Couldn't he have come a few minutes later?
If Xavier went out now, he would definitely run into Scott, and no explanation would suffice to elucidate the situation.
"Grace? Are you still asleep?" Scott mumbled. "That's strange. Grace usually wakes up earlier than anyone."
Scott's eyes widened. Could it be that Grace was in some kind of trouble?
With that thought, Scott knocked harder on the door.
Scott anxiously shouted, "Grace, are you okay? Grace, open the door."
Grace had no choice but to push Xavier into the bathroom. "You hide in there first. Wait until my brother leaves before you come out!"
Xavier remained silent.
Xavier felt like a secret lover, forced to hide.
After warning him, Grace dared to open the door, pretending to have just woken up and yawning. "Scott, why are you here at this time?"
"I came to ask you to have breakfast." Seeing that Grace was fine, Scott breathed a sigh of relief. He had noticed that Grace's mood had been off lately and was worried she might do something drastic.
"Let's go have breakfast then." Grace thought that once she and Scott left, Xavier would naturally leave.
"Why are you not wearing pajamas to sleep?" Scott noticed the wrinkles on Grace's clothes, indicating she had slept in them. Shouldn't she be wearing pajamas to sleep?
Grace glanced down at her clothes. She had indeed worn pajamas last night, but Xavier had torn them.
Later, before the doctor arrived, Grace had hastily put on some clothes.
Grace explained guiltily, "I was watching TV last night and fell asleep without changing."
Scott nodded. "I heard some noise outside my room while I was asleep last night. Did you hear anything?"
"No," Grace replied nervously, unsure if Scott had heard the noise from her room.
Their rooms were all in the same area. With Steven and Thomas's empty rooms in between, there was some distance between her room and Scott's.
She had called the doctor over last night, causing quite a commotion.
Scott said, "Let me use your bathroom, and then we'll go to the restaurant."
With that, Scott was about to walk inside.
Grace was shocked.
She quickly stopped him. "Scott!"
Scott asked, "What's wrong?"
Grace looked pitifully at Scott. "I'm a bit hungry. How about we come back later?"
"I'll be quick in the bathroom, just a moment."
"Scott, I..." Grace couldn't think of an excuse. She directly pushed Scott out and closed the door behind her.
"Scott, sorry. I accidentally closed the door. Oh no, I forgot my room key. Could you use another bathroom?"
Although Grace knew her behavior was suspicious, she had no choice but to keep Scott out of her room.
Scott looked at Grace strangely. "Grace, are you hiding a man in your room?"
Grace was silent.
"Scott! Don't say such things!"
"Then why are you so flustered and afraid of me going in? And what's on your neck? Let me see." Scott reached to lift Grace's hair.
Grace's long hair covered some marks on her neck, but they were faintly visible.
Grace covered her neck. "I felt a mosquito flying around me last night while I was sleeping. It was itchy, and the mosquito must have bitten me."
"Scott, stop overthinking. Let's go eat. Grandpa must be getting anxious. Let's go." Grace pulled Scott away quickly, afraid that if she delayed any longer, Xavier in the room would get impatient and come out, leading to an awkward situation.
While having breakfast, Grace told Chase that she needed to go out during the day.
She had a meeting to discuss a collaboration scheduled for the evening.
After breakfast, Grace didn't know if Xavier had left, but she didn't dare to go back.
Scott drove Grace back to her studio. Xavier was still waiting for Grace to return after breakfast. After waiting for two hours, he realized that Grace was hiding and wouldn't come back.
Perhaps it was because last night was the only time in recent days that Xavier had a proper rest. His mind was unusually clear now, and he managed to untangle the thoughts that had been troubling him for days.
He couldn't stop liking Grace; he couldn't let her go. As for Stephanie, he would try to find a compromise.
Xavier called Mason, asking him to send over any urgent documents and to check Grace's schedule. Stephanie was still being held by the Coleman family. Xavier didn't want to see her or rescue her for now. He wanted Stephanie to calm down, which would also make it easier for him to handle many things.
Xavier said, "And send me all the information about that accident, including all the surveillance footage and records!"
Xavier had been in a low mood lately, almost in a daze. Mason hadn't heard Xavier speak in such a calm and assertive tone in a long time.
