Chapter 335 Collaborating with Sterling to Bring Down Xavier
"If that's all you have to say, then there's no need to continue. My time is my life," Sterling had no interest in apologies or drinking.
As long as he wanted, countless people would come to apologize to him. If he wished to observe others drink, they would drink themselves to death without his say-so.
"Mr. Wallace, please wait. I called you here today for another reason," Patrick quickly tried to keep him.
It had taken him several days to arrange a meeting with Sterling.
Someone like Sterling wouldn't normally pay him any attention; otherwise, they wouldn't be meeting just now.
Patrick said, "If I'm not mistaken, there seems to be some conflicts and unpleasantness between you and Xavier, Mr. Wallace."
"Mr. Wallace, both you and Xavier have always been rivals; it's well-known. But last time, Mr. Wallace protected Grace. Grace used to be my son Ryan's fiancée. Xavier got involved with Grace to retaliate against the Montgomery Family. It's no secret, and in some ways, we have a common enemy."
"Now, Grace and Xavier have a special relationship. Aren't you curious why Xavier chose Grace? You know Xavier better than I do. Grace is quite plain and has no power. Why would he be interested in her?"
Patrick's words piqued Sterling's interest.
Sterling lazily leaned back on the sofa, and someone beside him had already lit a cigar for him. "Go ahead."
"To be honest, Grace does have a secret. Being with her can get you something valuable. Grace herself probably doesn't even know about it."
"But Xavier is too selfish. Once he found out, he wanted it all for himself, so he seduced Grace. She was supposed to be my daughter-in-law; Grace and Ryan were already engaged as before."
"Xavier has been targeting the Montgomery family, so if there's anything to gain, I'd rather Mr. Wallace get it than Xavier. So, Mr. Wallace, are you interested in a partnership?" Patrick said.
Sterling looked at him with interest. "Is what you're saying true? So Grace has such secrets."
"Yeah, it's absolutely true. I have no reason to deceive you, Mr. Wallace. I genuinely want to be in cooperation with you." Patrick said.
Sterling took a puff of his cigar. "Cooperation? What do you want?"
Patrick finally revealed his intentions. "Once we get that thing, I hope Mr. Wallace can give me half of it. Also, I hope Mr. Wallace can assist the Montgomery Group. The Montgomery Group is willing to serve you. Anything you need, just name it."
"How do we get that thing?" Sterling asked.
As for the truth of Patrick's words, Sterling would have someone investigate.
Patrick probably didn't have the guts to lie.
"It's simple. Marry Grace, get the marriage certificate, and I have a token."
"Do you want me to marry her?" Sterling sneered, as if hearing a joke.
Patrick quickly added, "It doesn't have to be you specifically. Anyone would do. But Grace is smitten with Xavier and likely won't agree to marry anyone else. That's why I came to you, Mr. Wallace."
"Grace doesn't know about this, so I hope Mr. Wallace can keep it a secret. If Grace knows it, we won't get that thing."
Sterling gazed into the distance, intrigued. So that's why Xavier had lingered in Skigeth, involving himself with the seemingly unremarkable Grace. He had an ulterior motive. And Sterling had a habit of taking what Xavier wanted. He wondered who Grace would find more alluring, him or Xavier.
"Alright," Sterling agreed. "Mr. Montgomery, let's have a pleasant cooperation."
The Montgomery Villa was deserted.
Kelly's parents had been sent back. Kelly gave them a large sum of money and agreed to buy them a house. When they called Grace to ask about Kelly's offer, Grace told them to take it.
Ryan was working at the company as he didn't want to come home and was tired of the place. He hadn't been back much lately, unwilling to see Kelly.
Patrick hadn't returned yet, and Amy hung out with her socialite friends. Kelly hadn't seen Wendy for days and didn't know where she was.
So the villa was left with just Kelly, who was resting, and the servants.
For Kelly, this was a great opportunity.
Kelly said she was going upstairs to sleep and ordered the servants not to disturb her.
Since no one was on the second floor, Kelly quietly went to the study.
She had previously figured out the password to the study. She wanted to see what secrets it held.
Patrick usually didn't let anyone into the study, not even for cleaning. Kelly had been in there before, looking for Grace's mother's ashes, but found nothing.
But a few days ago, Ryan had clearly taken the ashes from the study, meaning they were indeed there. She hadn't found them before, so there must be a hidden compartment or something.
Kelly knew that to establish herself in the Montgomery Family, she couldn't rely solely on the child she was carrying. She needed to catch Patrick's weaknesses.
Kelly sensed that the study held some secrets. Otherwise, Patrick wouldn't be so secretive about it.
With everyone's absence, Kelly decided to search again.
She quietly entered the study, which looked the same as before. She searched but found nothing.
The desk held only some company documents, nothing confidential.
If there was nothing important, why did Patrick value the study so much? She was sure there was a place to hide things.
Kelly almost turned the bookshelf upside down but found nothing unusual.
If there was anything unusual, it was that the bottom shelf was much thicker than the others.
Its thickness appeared sufficient to conceal something.
Kelly carefully removed the books, taking photos first to see if Patrick had marked anything.
After removing the books, the shelf looked normal and flat.
Kelly tapped it and found it hollow, not solid wood. This made her even more certain something was hidden there.
Kelly searched around, trying to find something. Suddenly, after picking up two books, she heard a small sound, like something falling.
Looking at the thick bottom shelf, she saw a hidden compartment with a box inside.
