Chapter 349 First Place in the Perfume Competition
Grace snuggled into Xavier's arms, clearly exhausted from the past few days. She drifted off to sleep almost immediately.
With one arm around Grace, Xavier grabbed his phone with the other.
He glanced at a photo of a crystal and shot a message to Mason: [Check out where this crystal came from.]
Mason replied in no time: [On it.]
Xavier sent another text: [The crystal should be at The Montgomery Manor. Get someone to find it, make a copy, and swap it out.]
He didn't know what the crystal was for, but he figured it was better to have it for Grace's sake.
After sending his instructions, Xavier looked down at Grace in his arms.
If Grace wanted a peaceful life, he'd make sure she got it. As long as she was with him, she wouldn't have to worry about the craziness of the outside world.
He just wanted her to be happy, every single day.
Grace handed her project proposal to the partner, and soon they picked a company to work with, Iris.
Madison was livid. She had busted her butt on the project, only for Grace to snag it effortlessly.
She was fuming. The results of the International Fragrance Competition were out, and Iris had taken first place.
Even though Madison didn't get first, she did snag third with her perfume formula.
Madison was over the moon. She bought a bunch of trending topics on YouTube, packaged herself as a big deal, and posted her award-winning photos, feeling like she had shut up her critics.
She was a fragrance whiz with a big ego, and she was getting more and more wary of Grace.
The fragrance formula was Grace's; Madison had only tweaked two elements, yet she still managed to get third place.
Grace hadn't even entered the competition; otherwise, she might have taken the top spot!
Madison was super jealous of Grace's talent in fragrance. Why didn't she have it? She felt her fragrances were just as good as Grace's, but even with the same scent and formula, her fragrance was different from Grace's.
Iris's reputation skyrocketed. In just a few months, it had become a hot perfume brand.
Landing a big overseas order meant Iris was breaking into the international market!
The Lewis Group had been around for over twenty years and hadn't managed to crack the foreign market, yet Iris had done it in no time.
Madison, undeterred, reached out to the overseas company through Daniel, bragging about her award and claiming her company was better than Iris's. But the company still chose Grace.
Grace won again!
Grace sat in front of her computer, looking at the winners of the International Fragrance Competition. She was first again.
Over the years, she had always been first, so Grace wasn't too surprised.
Winning came with a big award ceremony, but Grace had never gone. The trophies were still with the committee. She did see Madison's name on the list.
Grace didn't care about Madison winning an award, but Madison would definitely go to the ceremony and use the chance to promote herself.
Grace quickly closed the award page. Outside her office, Lily and the others were still chatting about the fragrance competition.
"Just like I said, Iris snagged first place again. No surprise there. She's always on top every year. It's incredible! I really look up to her."
"She's such a mystery. Who is she? I'd love to meet her."
"I wonder what Iris looks like and how old she is. You know, her name is Iris, and our brand is called Iris too. It's funny, right? Maybe Iris is our secret boss!"
"No way. Are you saying Grace is Iris?"
"I think it's just a coincidence. Grace didn't even enter this fragrance competition. She's so talented, but I don't get why she didn't join."
"Yeah, it's a shame. I really wanted to see Grace compete."
The employees outside were buzzing, talking about Iris's skills.
Being a perfumer might be a rare job, but it was super relevant to everyday life.
The International Fragrance Competition was the biggest deal, a huge award, and Iris always took first place. Everyone in the fragrance world knew her name, but she was super mysterious.
"Anyway, Iris is my hero. I got into this field because of her," Lily chimed in.
The others laughed, "Isn't your hero Ms. Lewis?"
Lily said, "Ms. Lewis is also my hero. Both of them are amazing. I want to be like them!"
Having worked with Grace for so long, Lily really admired her.
Grace was about to call Lily over to discuss something, but hearing Lily's words, Grace was a bit taken aback. She had always looked up to Xavier as her hero and role model, striving to be like him. She hadn't expected to become Lily's hero.
The feeling was pretty awesome.
"Lily," Grace called from behind.
Lily quickly stood up, "I'm here!"
Grace said, "Come to my office for a moment."
Lily hurried over and explained, "Ms. Lewis, we weren't talking bad about you. We were just saying it's a shame you didn't enter the fragrance competition. If you had, Madison wouldn't have stood a chance! How could she have won?"
Lily was also annoyed. Even though their office was new, many employees from Skigeth had joined, adding some fresh faces and creating a good vibe.
Grace didn't mention the competition or tell anyone she had actually participated.
Grace said, "I need to go on a business trip for a few days. The project is finalized, and I need to go abroad to sign the contract. I'll also take the chance to study the overseas market and preferences. You'll need to take care of the company while I'm away."
Iris had landed a big order that would impact next year's performance. The overseas market was opening up, potentially leading to more business in the future.
Grace needed to go abroad to sign the contract.
"No problem!" Lily agreed.
However, Grace hadn't told Xavier about this yet. She planned to tell him when she got home in the evening.
Lily said, "Ms. Lewis, the project was successful because of the proposal. Did you get help from someone impressive?"
Grace responded quickly, "No, someone else wrote the proposal."
"Someone else?" Lily made a bold guess. The proposal was so unique, with ideas beyond their usual thinking, almost like a learning template. Maybe it was written by Grace's future husband.
Lily joked, "Ms. Lewis, you should really thank that person."
Grace thought for a moment and realized she should indeed thank him!
