Chapter 332 Xavier, She Hit Me
Stephanie was all like, "What I want is mine, period!"
Ever since she was a kid, anything Steph wanted, she got. No questions asked.
Grace just laughed. "Oh, come on, Steph. By that logic, I like Xavier too. So, does that mean he’s mine now?"
Stephanie was fuming. "You..."
Grace cut her off. "Look, you can like someone all you want, but that doesn’t mean they’re gonna like you back. If Xavier liked you, you wouldn’t have to try so hard. And if he doesn’t, well, even without me, he still wouldn’t."
Steph couldn’t handle it. "Grace! Who do you think you are, lecturing me? You’re just a homewrecker, always stealing other people’s boyfriends!"
Grace shot back, "Steph, if you haven't read up on it, just Google it. Wanna bet who the real homewrecker is here?"
Steph was livid. Was Grace seriously calling her the third person? It was Grace who messed up her thing with Xavier, making him dump her. If it wasn’t for Grace, Xavier wouldn’t be so grossed out by her.
Then, Steph heard footsteps. Xavier was coming out.
Out of nowhere, Steph grabbed Grace’s wrist and slapped herself hard, letting out a dramatic scream. "Grace, how dare you hit me!"
Right then, Xavier showed up at the door.
Grace was floored by Steph’s stunt. She thought only someone like Kelly would pull that kind of crap, but here was Steph, playing the victim.
Steph still had Grace’s hand near her face, making it look like Grace had just slapped her.
Seeing Xavier, Steph ran to him. "Xavier, she hit me! I was just talking, and she lost it, slapped me, and called me a homewrecker. She’s so two-faced."
Steph’s act was so lame, even Kelly wouldn’t sink that low.
Grace walked over. "Yeah, I hit you."
Steph was shocked. She thought Grace would deny it and play innocent in front of Xavier.
While Steph was still processing, Grace slapped her hard across the face.
"Grace, how dare you!" Steph was stunned.
Grace said, "I don’t explain myself, and I hate being misunderstood. You said I hit you, so I made it true. No apologies here. You lied about me, so we’re even. Plus, there’s a camera up there. Wanna check the footage?"
Steph’s cheeks turned bright red. She thought Grace was a pushover, but now Grace had slapped her right in front of Xavier.
"Xavier, you saw that, right? Grace hit me. It hurts so much." Steph’s eyes filled with tears.
But when she looked at Xavier, all she saw was coldness, no sympathy at all.
Xavier was like, "Steph, if you put half this effort into your work, your grandpa wouldn’t be stressing so much."
Steph was caught off guard. "I don’t get all that business stuff. Anyway, I’ve got you. Even if my grandpa can’t help me later, I’ve got you. I trust you’ll take care of me!"
"I can’t babysit you forever," Xavier said.
"I don’t care. You have to take care of me for life!" Steph totally ignored Grace.
"You’re nothing to me. I’m not responsible for you," Xavier shot back. "Your grandpa’s stable now, and the docs are on it. I’ve got stuff to do, so I’m out."
Xavier pulled his arm free from Steph and walked over to Grace.
He stopped, looked back at Steph, and said, "I know exactly who Grace is. No need for your drama."
Then he held out his hand to Grace. "Let’s go."
It was clear he wanted Grace to take his hand, so she did. With her other hand, she waved at Steph. "Bye, Ms. Park."
Steph was about to lose it. She got nothing out of this, and now her face was swollen from the slap. She gritted her teeth, fuming.
Grace was just riding on Xavier’s current interest, pushing her around! She had to find a way. If Xavier couldn’t like her, she’d make him hate Grace.
Steph already had a plan. She was good at this kind of thing.
She’d driven away so many women from Xavier’s side; she could definitely get rid of Grace!
She knew Xavier was swamped with Park Group's workload and meetings, leaving little time for Grace. Perfect timing for her.
Grace and Xavier went downstairs and got into the elevator, still holding hands.
Grace tried to pull her hand away, but Xavier held on tight.
"Steph’s gone; you can let go now," Grace said.
Xavier looked at their hands. "You think I’m holding your hand just for Steph to see?"
Wasn’t that the case? Grace thought Xavier was just standing up for her.
Grace said, "I just slapped Steph. What do you think? Should I have done that?"
Xavier said, "No biggie. She tried to frame you first. Steph’s always been like this, spoiled by Joseph since she was a kid. She probably won’t let it go easily. Be careful."
Grace said, "Okay, got it."
They got out of the elevator together. Xavier said, "There’s a party in a few days. Come with me, and I’ll introduce you to some people."
Xavier had his influence in Oakworth. Over the years, even if he didn’t actively make friends, he still had a few close ones and some big shots he could introduce to Grace.
"Sure," Grace agreed. "What do I need to prep?"
Xavier said, "Nothing, just be yourself."
Grace and Xavier got into the car at the hospital entrance.
Xavier asked, "Where to? I’ll drop you off."
Grace didn’t hesitate and gave her address. Lily was coming today, and she needed to take Lily to the factory.
After dropping off Grace, Xavier picked up his phone and sent a message to Mason, asking him to arrange for some people to quietly follow Grace and ensure her safety. Knowing Steph, she wouldn’t let Grace off easy.
