Chapter 436 New Year's Eve Date
Xavier's stomach started to hurt again after not eating all day.
He squatted on the ground, clutching his abdomen.
It seemed like he heard footsteps behind him. Xavier stubbed out his cigarette and said hoarsely, "I'm leaving now."
He thought it was Steven and the others, coming to make him leave.
He stood up, and when he saw the person behind him, he was stunned.
"Grace?"
It was actually Grace!
He thought he was seeing things. How could Grace possibly show up? How could she come to see him?
Grace had just seen him from the room and wondered if Xavier's stomach was hurting again or if he was pretending.
She knew she shouldn't have come down, but her actions seemed to be faster than her brain.
"How long have you been here?"
"Not long, I just got here." In fact, he had been hanging around nearby for the past two days.
"Have you eaten?" Grace asked.
Actually, he hadn't eaten all day, but he didn't want Grace to worry, so Xavier nodded, "I have."
"Alright, then I'll throw this away." Grace was still holding something in her hand.
Only then did Xavier realize that Grace had brought him food!
"Don't throw it away, I haven't eaten." He was already starving.
Xavier was really happy to see Grace at this moment; he thought she wouldn't come out.
Xavier directly grabbed Grace's hand, "I'll take you somewhere!"
"I haven't agreed yet!"
Xavier didn't care and pulled Grace into the car, then started the vehicle.
"Where are you taking me?" Grace thought she must be crazy to let Xavier pull her into the car like this.
"You'll know when we get there."
Xavier took Grace to the coastline, and Grace realized there were fireworks here, a grand display like a sky full of stars.
There was also a New Year's countdown, and the bell rang as many people cheered.
Grace watched the fireworks blooming in the sky; they were really beautiful.
Xavier looked at Grace's expression, a smile on his lips. He didn't expect to be lucky enough to spend New Year's with Grace.
"Grace," he called her.
"What?" Grace withdrew her gaze from the fireworks.
The bell had already started counting down, five, four, three...
Xavier's lips moved. He originally wanted to say something, but instead, he made another move. At that moment, he pulled Grace into his arms and kissed her.
"You..." Grace didn't even have time to react.
By then, the bell had counted down to one; it was already the new year.
It turned out she had spent New Year's with Xavier.
Xavier then let go of Grace. Although she was already wearing quite a bit, Xavier still took his jacket from the car and draped it over her, wrapping her up.
"Happy New Year," Xavier said.
Grace lowered her eyes, avoiding Xavier's gaze.
Xavier's usually cold eyes were now unbelievably gentle, more dazzling than the fireworks just now, like a vortex that could suck people in. Grace was afraid that if she looked a little longer, she would fall into Xavier's gentleness again.
"I'm glad you came out."
"Don't get me wrong, I just thought you were an eyesore standing there and wanted to tell you to leave."
Xavier knew Grace was lying, "You even brought me food."
"I was afraid you'd starve to death there and blame it on our family. It would be hard to explain then."
Xavier knew Grace was just being tough on the outside but soft on the inside. She was a person who said one thing but meant another; she was actually worried about him.
The food Grace brought was already cold. Xavier opened it and saw it was quite a feast.
"All my favorites."
Grace hadn't specifically picked Xavier's favorites; he was really lying.
"It's just leftovers. The Coleman family doesn't have a dog, so it would be a waste to throw it away."
"I can take care of your leftovers from now on."
"You're dreaming. It's already cold; don't eat it." Grace snatched it from Xavier's hand.
His stomach had already been feeling uncomfortable, and eating something cold would probably make it worse.
"It's not cold; I can eat it." Xavier thought Grace didn't want to give it to him.
"But I'm hungry too," Grace said.
"Then I'll take you to eat!" Xavier put the food Grace brought back into the car, saving it for tomorrow.
Xavier quickly took Grace to a 24-hour restaurant and ordered a lot of dishes.
Grace had already eaten quite a bit for dinner, so she wasn't very hungry now.
But Xavier kept putting food on Grace's plate, and soon, there was a lot.
Grace took a couple of bites, "I can't eat anymore."
"It's okay, I'll finish it for you." With that, Xavier ate all the food Grace hadn't finished.
Seeing this, Grace's eyes flickered as if she had gone back to when she and Xavier were still together.
"You're walking around with that face; aren't you afraid of being laughed at?" Grace looked at the wounds on Xavier's face that hadn't healed yet.
"It doesn't matter."
Xavier never cared about his appearance, especially since Steven had caused the injuries; it wasn't embarrassing.
After eating and drinking, Grace said, "It's too late; I need to go back."
"I'll take you."
For Xavier, being able to spend these few hours with Grace was already very satisfying.
Tonight was like a date. Whether it was or not, in Xavier's heart, it was already a date.
When Xavier's car arrived outside the Coleman Mansion, Grace, in the passenger seat had already fallen asleep. She was so quiet.
The streetlight shone on Grace's face; her beautiful eyes were closed, and her face was still so lovely.
Xavier just watched her. He didn't know when he would see Grace again, so he took out his phone and secretly took several photos.
He leaned over and quietly placed his hand on Grace's lower abdomen.
Although Grace said she had aborted the child, Xavier didn't believe it. Knowing Grace's character, she wouldn't give up the child.
He didn't know if he could use the child to gain Grace's forgiveness.
Xavier stayed close to her, feeling the presence of life through her clothes.
Before he could feel it for long, Grace woke up and saw Xavier close to her. She moved, "What are you doing?"
"Nothing, I was just about to wake you up. We're here."
"Okay" Grace said. Tonight, I just couldn't sleep, so I went out for a walk. At most, you're just a driver and bodyguard. Don't get any ideas."
"I understand, I know."
"I'm going back." Grace prepared to open the car door.
"Wait." Xavier grabbed Grace's hand as she reached for the door.
"I said we were over before for a reason. I was shot at the time, and Joseph saved me. He didn't make it. His dying wish was for me to marry Stephanie."
A flash of surprise crossed Grace's eyes. What was Xavier saying?
Did Joseph die because of a shooting?
